Very good presentation. Mr, Krause speaks clearly and slowly. Cicero's writings are regarded as a model of Latin prose and, in addition to being a philosopher he was also a statesman and orator. His later writings introduced Greek philosophy to Rome. Wonderful man who stressed the use of Reason as Mr. Krause observes. Thank you for this excellent lecture.
What did Cicero make of Abraham and Isaac? What would he say to Kierkegaard who points out that we must must choose either Athens or Jerusalem? Is it enough to be a philosophical theist? Does poor Cicero await us philosophers in Limbo? Can we have a synthesis between these 2 traditions? Can we accuse Cicero of having faith in reason?

Besides Cicero, I would suggest reading The Abolition of Man by C. S. Lewis.
