    Dark stories can be adapted for the kids and done so while keeping close to the source material. "Wishbone" was proof of this. I mean he covered "Faust," "The Count of Monte Cristo," "Frankenstein" and "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde." If I remember correctly, they did cover the main points of the story and themes, with a lot of the humor coming from the bizarre scenarios that inspired these trips into literature and just how light hearted they felt in contrast. E.G. A teacher performs in secret at a local pizza place? Let's tell the story of Mr. Hyde. A wacky robot is on the loose? Let's tell the kids about Frankenstein.

    • @mastermarkus5307
      @mastermarkus5307 6 лет назад +12

      How the feck did Wishbone cover a story about a man selling his soul to the devil? I can think of work arounds for the others where you just remove the violence and stuff, but that seems like something that would cause a huff.

    • @dr.penguinstein3426
      @dr.penguinstein3426 6 лет назад +17

      Well he did it, the "real life" scenario centered around his owner being offered a VR system in return for Wishbone by a traveling salesman who wanted him to be his mascot.
      Really the only episode that caused a huff I remember was "Imaginary Invalid" where it was banned because parents were afraid that health warnings, allergy scares, etc. would not be taken seriously.

    Lessons GoodTimes has taught me:
    Hunchbacks are magic.
    People with dark circles under their eyes, black hair, or bad facial hair are evil.
    Angels exist and can interact with our world, but only to help obnoxious white kids or save Christmas for some stupid town.
    Children going off into dangerous environments is perfectly fine, as is leaving them alone for long periods of time.
    Death is something that can easily be overcome and should not be dwelt upon when it happens.
    Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go become the villain the dark circles under my eyes indicate I am.

    Oh boy, Call of the Wild! It was my childhood! Not the book tho, but an anime adaptation. The dogs didn't talk in it at all and there was quite a lot of narration. It wasn't a perfect adaptation but there was certainly more death and violence, including the murder of the one nice guy Buck had after being stolen. And there wasn't some female wolf to make him want to join the wolves. God forbid someone wanting to change their life for any other reason than getting some tail.

    Ok, we KNOW Goodtimes "Staff" have no original or creative ideas, hence why they just steal Disney's idea of adapting old stories _(But forgetting to put the fresh and new take on it, naturally)_ but
    1.) Why stories like this noone (or at least comparatively few people) knows about?
    2.) Why stories Disney hasn't made movies about?

    • @markcobuzzi826
      @markcobuzzi826 6 лет назад +2

      Actually, I heard that there were two versions of that short story by Jack London. In the earlier 1902 version, the man supposedly suffers from frostbite but gets rescued before he can die, allowing him to become “sadder but wiser”. It was not until the more well-known version later, that the protagonists ends up freezing to death.
      +Tommy Deonauth's Archives
      I remember being assigned to read it in School many years ago, right before we would then read “The Call of the Wild.” I recall it being about a traveler that ignores the advice of the Old Timers and goes out in the Alaskan wilderness at the height of winter. He gets caught in the cold storm and needs to build a fire. It is about his struggle against nature, how his inexperience and increasing desperation leads to him making mistakes (like finally setting his fire, but underneath a tree with lots of snow in its branches), how a canine animal acts as it follows him around, and his mindset progresses as he starts staring death in the face and becoming more accepting of it.

    Fantastic review! Woof was clearly the best character. John’s mom is going to be quite surprised with her new house guest and her soon to be new husband! Truly whacky! Definitely appreciate Old Man’s cameo!

    I read both Call of The Wild and White Fang in 8th and 9th grade and I like White Fang better, because stories of corruption making me depressed.

    Lol, "So the dogs were in the hands of the mean-spirited Burton". All I can picture is him yelling at them "You have to be more careful, you were almost a dog sandwich!"

    I'm shocked phelous didnt mention that the other dogs that were captured would be pretty useless as sled dogs.

    Why do Goodtimes animations look like 90s WB and Disney cartoons teamed up with DIC Entertainment?

      Not to mention looking like the '90s trying to imitate the '60s in terms of animation.

    What exactly would Young Moby Dick be about? How he got his taste for human legs?
    If they made Moby sapient like they tend to do then that would just completely go against the entire point of the novel.
    Welp, the dad is clearly the same one from Angel for Christmas. Maybe he was just looking for a way to get away from that town of idiots?

      VauschthePuca The moral of the novel is its impossible to get petty revenge on an animal. Animals have no ill in their hearts like most humans do.

    • @redkingrauri3769
      @redkingrauri3769 6 лет назад +2

      That's my point. If Moby is sapient then he clearly can understand morality and can get grudges or think for himself rather than being a mindless animal that really only has its own survival in mind. If it can think then it would either feel remorse for biting off Ahab's leg, or none which means it would be either cold and unfeeling or evil.

      VauschthePuca Animals aren't mindless but yea I get what you mean.

    at least Goodtimes never made an animated adaptation based on Cujo, although that would honestly be kind of interesting to see now. XD
