So nice to see a full length video from ETCG. I forgot how much I miss watching these. Thanks!
*INCREDIBLE TO SEE YOU AGAIN MISSED YOU SO MUCH THE O.G.*
The only person that put original Honda parts on a type R
TypeR. Lol
Probably Gixxer as well!!😂
There is no orginal Honda parts anylonger like back in the days..that time is passed u know.. now other factorys does parts to Honda.
I have all the OEM Honda parts to replace all tie rods, end links, bushings, including things Eric couldn’t find such as the front & upper control arms. Most are still available and Hardrace, Mugen, and Spoon can fill in the blanks.
So where is all that oem parts comming from and have been all theese years?
Whoever buys this car is going to Have the Best Type R on the road. They are going to be Extremely Satisfied! ETCG Certified Stamp Of approval needs to be Somewhere on the Car!!
In this episode of ETCG!!
Its gonna be a good friday!!
And its 2 weeks till good Friday. Yes, good Friday came early this year!
"I have no lift, and I must wrench"
Good to see you back on video my man
Oh snap, it's Eric AND Cameraman Brian!!
Eric, I got a notification on my phone like an hour into my shift turning wrenches at BMW saying there was a new ETCG video. AND it's about the ITR?! Longest 8 hour shift of my life, always happy to see you put out new work. I've learned quite a lot from you over the years
So much PTSD from restoring my civic in Wisconsin. Cut out and torched nearly every bolt. Absolute nightmare. Stay strong!
I live in WI totally agree
U.K. too ... complete reshell, many sawsall blades and propane.
...thought Eric retired... a new video...great.
Snagged some factory wires for my Del Sol project because of an old recommendation you made. You were spot on - worth their weight in gold for those things.
Giving me flashbacks to when I was 24 redoing all the suspension on my GSR. On the floor, in a 10x20 storage unit, fighting soooo many suspension bolts (in ohio too). I had to have gone through 15 sawzall blades. Bought my first map gas torch. Managed to get the rear toe control bolts out with heat and an impact. I'm only 32 and can't imagine doing that again any older lmao. Thanks for the nostalgic entertainment! 😂
Who says you need a big fancy garage to make good content. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed these videos.
Yay!!!! I'm so tired from night shift but I'm watching anyway.
Don’t sell that type r. You’ll instantly regret it.
I agree, but he could probably get over $50k for that thing - and he’s got a family. Can’t fault him too much for it.
@Vashed555 No let them eat Ramen, I sold my S2000 for a good price used with 100k and to this day I regret it.
I know I regret selling mine…
As a EG guy I couldn't even imagine selling mine.
Maybe he's getting an S2000 or NSX... 😉🤔
This is what I enjoy. Hope all is well with you and familia. Im 71 retired lineman diyer, been following for mucho tiempo. Currently troubleshooting a po302 on my 2006 subaru sti. Did all the swapes except for injector. Did a compression and leakdown. All cylinders within specs. Did vacuum leak test with smoke machine. No smoke. Did same exhaust side got 2 leaks on both sides of secondary catalytic converter. This may be my po302 issue. I learned all this watching your videossaved me mucho denero.
Nice to have you back Eric 🥳
Never clicked so fast in my life ❤
Im not much of a mechanic, and I've never made a video, but I'm impressed by your vid making skills, and I have learned more than I expected about fixing things. Hats are off to you, sir.
Thank you! However, this particular video was shot and edited by my cameraman, Brian.
You're a RUclips anomaly. You've got over a million subscribers yet your comments and interaction are more personal and don't get crazy amounts of up votes. I used to watch your videos years ago but then forgot you existed for a few years. Didn't even realise you had a break and now I've found you again and I'm excited to follow your story again. Hope you're doing well. Never stop doing what you're doing if you can make it work around your life. You're one of if not the most relatable content creator I've seen.
Man I miss your regular videos. Good to see you back on RUclips again!
Don't sale that eric. I have been watching you for over a decade. You are the mechanic goat of youtube. Is nice to see someone that don't cut corners and get in there with the cars. Thank you for helping me fixing stuff through the years.
GOAT loving your work and back to grass roots fettling! No lifts just like your average chap has to contend with! 🇬🇧
Seeing you showing and talking about the struts/springs brings back memories of one of your old videos of compressing, and disassembling struts, when you almost got popped with one of the springs. I always took struts and springs very seriously after watching that video ha.
Absolutely Incredible, Eric! You EARN those great results!
Ive literally just got done doing this sort a work on a EK Honda Civic EX and i know its a bit over kill for just a civic BUT i have been a owner to a brand new car prior and oh my goodness the ease it was to maintenance it with out having to worry about ceased bolts and nuts was just a delux that i just HAD to do it to my little old civic as well. Still working on it! Hoping to get it as new as possible. Maybe pass it on to my son one day.
This is just like the old days of ETCG... Love it!
Cameraman Brian is BACK! Heck yeah! And of course, always great to see you, too, Eric :)
ETCG has always had love for Integras... a true OG. 😎
Woke up at 3 am, still at work but had to stop for a sec to give my attention to ETCG, gonna watch the rest on my lunch break but great to see a new video, señor 😎👌🏼 much love from Los Angeles 🌴
I have done similar work on my civic typeR.
Also in the process of finishing my 7th gen celica GT UK spect, think it's called trd in the USA.
90% of the suspension components have been replaced mostly with OEM parts. Unfortunately for me I run out of money for there rear shocks but still kept them in hope toyota can source the genuine ones. If they can't then I'll have to restoring them.
Having flashbacks to the old school b series days when we all gooned over your videos in highschool not knowing you were filming only 4 miles away
Good morning Eric 🌞 I'm glad you're back you never disappoint. 😉👍👍
First and foremost, Erikàh, your videos are always very informational and. Correct with the work you do.
Love the fact that you’re restoring a Honda/Acura type R as we all know these are the pinnacle of the racer/modification car scene.
Why get rid of, such a rare car specially after restoring it properly?
Great to see you again. :) First off and genuinely meant; without you and your Honda and general spannering vids and advice my own Type R would have cost me a lot more in time and money and one of the reasons it's parked in my driveway all these years later is down to your good self. Thank you.
+1 on the rear suspension setup. It particularly grinds my gears(1st world problem :)) when I see guys swapping in polybushes for that big main bush thinking it'll tighten things up. Oh it will, but the OEM bush is part of Honda's patented design whereby horizontal give in the bush dials in toe in under braking and stabilises the rear end. It's a major factor why Honda's of this period are famed for their handling.
I've replaced most of my bushings and because I got mine rust free from Japan and then smothered it in anti rust wax the week after I got it the bolts came out good as gold. I check and reapply that gunk every summer. At this stage it's more wax than car. I'm _that_ paranoid about the tin worm. :) I think it helps too that mine is my daily. It doesn't sit for long and gets the wind through it as it were.
YES! The original engineers of the car really knew what they were doing. It's very hard to improve on their work in my view.
He's alive!!!
It’s good to have you back, Eric. 😊
ETCG is back. Nature is healing.
Good to see you back at it again, Eric
Eric, it's nice to see you again, it's nice to see you again my friend.
Good to see you Eric!
I did a very similar restoration on a Subaru legacy GT wagon. I went more in depth but also had a lot more rust. I tore the car down and everything down to the body. I took all of the suspension components, subframes, and all other miscellaneous items to an industrial sandblaster to have everything blasted down to bare metal. That’s way too much work to be wire wheeling everything which has almost always has failed results because you can’t really ever truly get it down to bare metal especially with rust. Industrial sandblasters are usually $150 to $200 an hour, and they had the entire job done in a 1hr and 10 min. That was an entire car components. As far as the body I did wire wheel the unibody underneath, and I acid brushed all the surface rust spots and then painted. Just something to think about.
back to old school ericthecarguy, before he had a lift!!!
YESSSS! NEW ETCG VIDEO!
Yay, another ETCG video! 😎
Yes!!! Can’t wait. Back to your roots.
New ETCG, it's gonna be a good day!
Good to see you again. Can't wait to see more content.
Glad you are back... with a series no less. EXCELLENT!!
im excited for this series!
Great to see your videos again 👍😁
Glad you are back.
I am also restoring my 95 Civic coupe suspension with mostly OEM parts and Sankei 555.
Happy to see you back!
Awesome to see you back Eric! Can’t wait for the next video
Finally!! A full video! I missed this so much!
Great video...glad to have you back
Excellent video as always
Good to have you back eric
Good to see you put out a full length video. Thanks and keep up the excellent work!
It's good to see Eric back.
Going to miss that car!
My favorite ETCG Video was him saving a Honda Civic from a near Catastrophic Engine Failure of the Timing Belt breaking. He put a new timing belt and water pump in that Civic and it survived!
Nice to see a full length video again!!! Cant wait for the next one.
Going all original and then selling. I cannot believe you are not crying making this.
Good to see a video from ETCG.
Glad to see you back and posting!!
Good to see you again! Nice episode!
The king returns!!
It's a good day when we're treated to a new video from Eric. Hope you're doing well 👃
Full circle, on the ground, which is where I started watching ETC too long ago. !!
Love watching your videos. Your Honda knowledge is vast and I enjoy your channel
How easy we forget how hard it is to find these cars before we end up selling them 😂😂. What a putz
Yay! Eric the Man is back
Damn it's good to see you back in full production Eric!!!
Welcome back man
I just detailed my 2000 integra ls and posted it for sale 😢 absolutely love these cars, just need something bigger for my kids.
Nice to see ya again, man.
Awesome to see the longer repair videos again, just like old times!
Started watching you and subbed 13 years ago because I started working in vehicles. Your drum brake videos came in extremely clutch. Here I am today, have learned so much from you thanks for bringing us along on your journey.
Oh yes I remember laying on the floor before I got my lift.. I'm sure you miss yours. Glad you're posting some videos keep on keepin on bud.
Welcome back!!
Been watching for a long time. Ever since you were at the dealer in the way way back old shop. Glad to see you back. Thanks for the vid.
Eric, I wish you had the chance to do the refresh of your ITR well before you decided to sell it! Man, if you liked the way it drove before, just wait. You’re going to regret selling it! But you’ve had it for longer than most car RUclipsrs keep their cars, at least. I hope the catch can doesn’t scare off some prospective buyers, thinking you ran it hard on track. That’s what the ITR was for, but many owners now just take them out on nice days, exercise the VTEC, and otherwise cruise. Great video! Lots of things these cars need by age and miles you’re sorting out.
Yeeeeeeesssssssssssssss! The legend has returned with long-form videos!
ERIC ERIC ERIC !!! This video is like a return to form, from way, waaay back in the day. :D
Shame the R is leaving, but that's how it is some times. Cars we like have to go, we can't keep them all. I've 2 cars i won't part with, family heirlooms, but other than those, i've sent away quite a few over the years, never gets easy.
And you're 100% right. One of the best FWD cars ever made.
Always good!
Awesome to see a new ETCG video. It's sad to see you selling the type R but you'll make someone very happy with all the time and care you're putting into restoring it.
Good job Eric!
Omg yessss Eric is backkkkkkk thank god been waiting so long plz upload more videos

Eric back making videos, and a new Billy Joel hit
2024 is shaping up to be quite a year 😅
Wohooooo Eric is back! Nice to see you again man!
Loved the videos brother. I miss your videos. You are one of the few mecha ics that explains everything and goes into detail.
OMG! YES, ETCG is back!
