Interesting. I actually use the app 'Say No To Notch' (in the App Store) which does this full time. There are others which turn the menubar black, but taking anything to full screen changes it back.
01:28 So important! I hear a lot of complaints about how the notch reduces the screen size, but the menu bar is part of a vertical strip of EXTRA pixels.
Makes sense in this case, since I'm talking about an aspect of the physical screen. But I wouldn't want to shrink the screen capture any more for my normal videos, which would make things harder to see. Plus it would look weird when I need to zoom in.
@@macmost because the notch is covering the app buttons so you don’t see all the buttons. I want to have them available for me at a glance for all the time. Apple designed this part of the MacOS really poorly in my opinion
@@allaboutferrets It shouldn't cover any buttons unless the app developer has really messed up. It should be part of the Menu Bar. Which app are you seeing this with?
Hi Gary, I see that the menu bar on your mac exactly matches the height of the notch. Whereas on my mac (and by default if I'm not wrong), the menu bar extends below the notch taking up some additional pixels below the notch. How do I adjust its height to match the notch? This is something I searched at a lot of places, but no luck. Could you please tell me how you did that?
I really wish this worked for me. I have a new M3 Pro Macbook on Sonoma 14.5 and changing the app setting to scale to fit below camera literally does nothing. Not even in full-screen view. The biggest issue is the icons on the right, which will get obscured by the camera app if there are more than fit to the right of the notch. I wish that section had a "collapse" option of some sort, or I could just move everything to the control center itself so that if I need one of those icons, I can click to open that to get to them.
I want the opposite. I like how the new mac menu bars look, appear bigger and cleaner, but i have an older mac. any way i can do this? (im not talking about the text size, im talking about the menu bar itself)
Not sure what you mean. If you have an older Mac, then you have no notch. As far as the look of the Menu Bar, that would depend on the version of macOS you have.
Think of it this way: Your MacBook has a notch. It just goes all the way across the top. It isn't removed screen space in the middle, it is added space on the left and right.

How can I get the program menu bar to stay at the top of the program as it does with windows. I love my Mac but I use a wide screen and having to look 2 feet left to the menu bar is a huge pain. It’s like Apple didn’t consider wide external displays.
Hi I enjoy your videos immensely. I have one question that as I said before, I feel only you can answer: I exhausted Apple support and other searches ,etc. : " How can I add a printer to the iMac and my iPhone that is NOT an air printer? I have no problem using that printer on my Windows desktop"????? I would greatly appreciate your help. As always, thank you in advance Sincerely, Biagio Bisignano ♥️

I love the new way you showcasing the screen record.
You should keep using this way. I prefer this look.

Thanks very much, Gary, for this informative video! Some interesting new settings here.
A very useful and informative video tutorial today! Thank you, Gary!👏🏻❤️
Thank you for allowing us to see those deep down features that they deliberately hid into the system!
Thank you! Been looking for a solution to this for awhile now!
There’s an App “Say No to the Notch” wich allows you to have your Menu Bar below all the time, no matter what screen resolution you’re using.
I don't get that. Why would you not want to use all of that screen real estate at the top?

You can't. What you see in this video is a representation since the notch doesn't appear when you do a screen capture.
Appreciate the tip Gary!

Whoa, I had no idea! Thanks so much for sharing this!
This was very helpful, thank you so much for the video.
I don't have a newer macbook... but that notch out of the top would bug the heck out of me I think. Didn't know the new macbooks did that.

You should keep the device surround on your screen captures, looks good.

You can't. That's how Windows works, not how macOS works. The Mac Menu Bar applies to the app, not the windows inside the app.

Depends on the printer and how it is connected to your network. Consult the documentation for the specific printer to see what it says.
Interesting. I've had 4 or 5 different Macbooks for over about 15 years and have never had the camera notch get in the way like that.
This is only since the M2 MacBooks, where they brought the camera notch sticking into the screens
@@andydavies27 Ah, TY. I just got a M2 that I haven't opened yet, so this info will be very useful.
Yes yes, but I wish they would just give us the whole screen while in full screen mode. I hate when I drag the mouse up it gives me the black bar.
