Great presentation on the almost forgotten battles in Spain. Interesting that the French co ordination with Spanish guerillas as opposed to the Napoleonic campaign in Spain.
Fact: the Duke of Vendome's name is Louis Joseph de Bourbon, a great grandson of King Henry IV of France. Also unlike his elder brother in Oudenarde, Philip V was able to cooperate with Vendome which gave him victories.
Hooray, Vendôme has returned to kick the British into the dirt. Quality is as nice as it has ever been; maps, script and animation looks fantastic! Great work!
I just finished painting up all regiments for the Allies army for this battle, this was more info for the battle then anywhere else that I could find. Thank you
Concerning the French troops participation in the battle under Vendome...below is an extract from Wikipedia : The Bourbon army was rapidly refitted and reorganized by French general the duc de Vendôme, who was lent to Philip V's service by the latter's grandfather, the Sun King. Spanish volunteers and regular units were joined by the Irish brigade and by French troops secretly directed to enter Spanish service.
Nice work ! Just a few words, according to Fadi El Hage, Vendôme was the only frenchman fighting in theses battles. There were no French regiment sended in Spain at this time.
@@skiteufr Yes indeed, my concern was the Vendôme military's campaign in 1710, not the Berwick's one three years earlier. By the way, I'm seeking some informations about the battle of Fleurus in 1690. In his book "The nine year's war and the British army" John Childs assure that some british units were present but I don't find anything in the Waldeck's allied OB.
Wow, truely Epic! Mostly because it is so underrated. We all heard about the Spanish war of Succession but not much is said about it. This is the first video (That i started watching) which covers it in depth. Muchas Gracias Señor 🙏🏻
What a battle ! It shows that it is in battle that glory is won , there is no other source of it , in this world . I thought the battle was very well explained. Adding computerized animated figures makes it cutter , but it does not add to the clarity of the explanation, which was crystal clear .
Hello Field Marshal, thanks for liking my comment. I just have a question; what about the nine years war? do you plane to do something ? Fleurus, La Boyne, Landen..etc It will be great !
its crazy you crank out so much high quality content and only have 4k subscribers. need to figure out what the youtube algorithm trick is. Maybe putting DOCUMENTARY in the titles, one history channel i watch does that.
1711 was when the Hungarians in the forgotten eastern theater lost their war against the Austrians :( most of our small castles are in ruins in Transylvania since 1711 ...
@@mrfreeman2911 napoleon's brother didn't even control the peninsula, there were many cities in spain and areas that he had to conquer before ruling effectively the country, not in vain he was known as an incompetent man for his brother and people in france for his failures
The upshot: the British have lost more battles and wars with Spain than with any European power. Only in the Seven Years’ war was there a decided advantage.
@@smal750 I think you might be a bit confused. When was the last time London was invaded? 1000 years ago. In that time Paris was invaded multiple times. So many times, I lost count ;) Even Germans call the white flag the french flag.

Philip V did work very well with Vendome. They were even said to talk to each other rather casually even on the battlefield.
Cooperation is always good for victory.

Awesome! I love minis too
Love this in depth wss coverage!
Encore une fois une excellente narration accompagnée d'animations très utiles. Remarquable
This is how the Bourbons truly claimed Spain and kept it till now!
Ironically the Spanish guerrillas pursued the British during these battles but were allied with them 100 years later.

Queen Anne despised what was happening in Spain. Like her people, she was tired of the British loss of men.

The spanish artilleryman Rafael de Silby? De Silby is NOT an spanish name. De Silva seems more credible.
That's his name, perhaps he has other origins but was born in Spain.
