Once, in high school, I ignored someone who asked me where I got my hoodie because they liked it. He was visually and audibly angry, storming off after saying something rude to me. Ignoring him wasn’t on purpose, I just froze because I didn’t want to be bullied for telling him I shop at Ross. I grew up with the love of my family but not very much money. That hoodie made me feel good and accepted when I wore it, I didn’t want anyone to take that from me or use it to hurt me. I hope any of you who have been bullied find resolve. Cherish what you have.
My autistic ass being completely unaware they were insulting my Walmart shoes, " they were 7 dollars I think?" I kept going for another minute and they eventually just said, "your family is poor" and then left. I called out "yes, we are." It took me years to realize what this interaction meant. I was never able to be verbally bullied, and I was much bigger than everyone so they never physically bullied me. Thank God for autism because it saved me from misery.
It hits hard, especially the part of the single mother who worked really hard to get it... People these days 😢 Also check the replys on this video, it VERY inspirational. This actually happened to me and quite a few people I know. It’s really sad how cruel some people in the world can be, but I know my mom works hard to provide everything I have and I’m soooo grateful I have someone who cares for me❤
I cant believe that people would actually make fun of someone for something like a backpack Fortunately im lucky enough to have everything I need, but some people cant afford things like a backpack and it just hurts to see someone being made fun of for something that their parent worked so hard for
My mother is a single mother making minimum wage. I’ve had a lot of people insult the things she provides for me: my shoes, our home, and my clothes. They don’t know the effort she puts for me. So I ignore them. Be thankful for the people that are there for you. Doesn’t matter if it’s a family member or even a friend.
We got bullied a lot on school cause of pretty much everything for no real reason at all, so we know what that's like. Back then we were too insecure to stand up for ourselves, but now we would definitely give bullies a rough time of they messed with us. We have always appreciated the for ex. clothes we got from our mum or grandparents though, even if we got bullied for wearing them because they weren't of any brand like Adidas or Nike. Kids and young teens can be the meanest people on earth to someone they see as a weaker being. But that doesn't mean you are weak. They just can't see your strength and potential ❤
When I was around 8 or 9, my mom had gotten me a ballerina themed umbrella with the little money she had. I absolutely loved it and I took it to school the next day, only to get made fun of by my classmates. They laughed and made all kinds of comments about it being "too childish" and that I should "grow up". Feeling embarrassed and wanting to fit in, i agreed and acted like my mom was making me use the "stupid, ugly umbrella". I tossed it onto the ground before we all went inside. Later at recess, I saw older kids kicking it around. I wanted to act like I didn't care but I told them to stop and that it was mine. I don't remember what happened afterwards but I still think about this. Back then, I didn't understand why it hurt and felt so bad but now I understand. My mom has always been a single mom of two, struggling to afford food. That umbrella probably cost us a few meals
Ppl should appreciate gifts like this. If ur mom works hard to get u a gift, don't fell ashamed to take it out somewhere. If people make fun of it, tell a mean comment like "At least my mom worked hard to get it for me, unlike u" or some other comment don't come telling her u want something else, she bought it with her love and money soo, don't throw it away. 💔💔💔
Ok, first of all that back pack is super cute and people don’t understand. Moms get gifts they think you’ll like and it’s sad when people don’t appreciate them ❤
I know my mom is single as well. You never know what someone else is going through until they tell you. I had a disabled girl at my school shadowing yesterday and she was so sweet. Her Lunch spilled and I offered her some of mine but she said her parents didn’t want her to have anybody else’s food because she is allergic to some things. I said well it’s okay because the teacher can give you some fruit and she can text your mom. She then told me that she didn’t have a mom, and she passed away two years ago. I gave her a hug and she was very sweet and grateful for me being welcoming to her. Her favorite animal was a dragon which I could have never guessed 😅 but anyways she was so sweet in general and she has a single dad who works so hard for her and she was so funny and kind and the kids that were bothering her I offered to help her and she said “no babes I’ve got this” and told them very strongly and confidently to go away and leave her alone. You don’t know how hard someone has worked to get gifts for you and if you just neglect them it really hurts their feelings. Please be aware of what you say and always stay kind. ❤️
People in this world will judge others not knowing what they are going through or how hard they work. I feel awfully sorry for whoever goes or is going through this kind of stuff. Forever stay positive ❤️
It’s just sad how ppl judge or make fun of the gifts your parents gave you, it’s just makes me sad ngl, especially when you love your parents a lot too
This is so true. I went to London and got a tote bag with butterfly's on it. Accurately represented ones and one of the boys was making fun if it but I love butterfly's because they remind me of my dad who passed because the day he died a butterfly landed on and just say on my arm for a bit then flew off.

I was mostly raised by my grandparents who couldn't afford much and so aside from a good pair of Nike or Reebok shoes from JCPenney's, they got my clothes from Walmart/Target/Kmart and kids at school would tease me for such "cheap" clothes such as Rustler or Wrangler branded jeans. I ended up getting a job my freshman year in high school working for a neighbor and started buying my own "in style/fashion" clothes from JCPenney and Sears for myself - things like Levi's or Jordan stonewash/acidwash jeans (which were huge when I was in high school during late 80s and early 90s), popular printed t-shirts and etc. It also lifted some of the burden I was on them.
I still have a backpack that my husband's uncle got me one year for Christmas from Amazon, a backpack that my husband got me from the thrift store, and a satchel that was given to me at a yard sale, because I was admiring it, and the girl running the sale told me it was from when she was in high school; even has a patch over a hole worn in by time. After a while in life, you stop caring about what others think of your stuff, cuz they know nothing about what drives you to wear it/keep it/love it.

My girls would consider it a compliment because I taught them how to be frugal and to get the Best Buy for the lowest buck. Sometimes that meant they shopped at Walmart, Ross or a thrift store. We also like to explore yard sales too! Don’t let people who don’t know how to use their money wisely, make you feel sad. Always comeback with “ Why, yes I found this at Ross and for what I paid for it, it is both stylish and cost effective. Do you have a problem with that?”
