    LOL! I moved to Nicaragua in 2014. I chose to live in a smaller town. I rent a 2 bedroom each with air conditioning, 2 bathrooms with hot water in the showers, 2 interior patios, full kitchen, laundry room, dining area, living room and garage. It has ceiling fans in every room. It's in the center of the city I live in. It's 2600 SQ ft and only $250 a month. you'll get a lot more for your money in a small town and staying away from the tourist towns like San Juan del Sur and Granada.

      Yes, are you referring to the first house or the second house, or both? I think the first house is certainly very expensive for what you get, but it is in San Juan Del Sur which as you probably know is very overpriced. The second house is in Rivas which while being a little over priced, it does come furnished and all bills included so I feel $300 is a fair price for that. It's hard to find a furnished house to a high standard in Rivas. Managua is a lot easier :)

  • @enchantedrockview

    3:10 Not sure if the music is from the bus or a nearby store, but the bus music was the only thing I enjoyed when I used to travel that way. I always had a good time listening to the songs since they were either: happy cumbias, lovesick songs or spicy (double meaning) songs, so you can imagine what the lyrics are like; they’re so funny 😂😂😂
    As you mention, every place has its pros and cons but you have the benefit of checking several out while renting and can easily explore a new area depending on your contract or arrangement.
    Tip: there’s likely to be a neighborhood WhatsApp group in most places. Be sure to ask a neighbor so they can add you. You’ll find useful information about the area, particularly on how safe it is (e.g. they’re likely to inform if a theft has occurred. In my experience it’s not common but at least you get to know as soon as it happens). The chat will be in Spanish, of course, but you can simply use a translation service.

    • @travellingroots
      @travellingroots 11 месяцев назад +4

      I think at that time stamp it is from a near by store. But the best of the music was definitely at 4:14 :) And that was on the bus, so we were really happy to hear some great songs playing. Definitely the best part of travelling by bus. Thank you for the advice, we will definitely look into it :)

    • @travellingroots
      @travellingroots 11 месяцев назад +1

      Let us know when you are down here in Nicaragua, we can recommend a good lawyer. He sorted the whole process for us and charged very little.
      A lot of perpetual tourists put the car in someone else's name and just drive it. But this can be a bit adventurous.

    • @newworldmoney8926
      @newworldmoney8926 11 месяцев назад

      @@travellingroots - I have been watching Scott Alan Millers channel and what he has said confirms exactly what you have said and thanks for the response. Can you share an approximation of cost, if not all good? When you say it is a bit adventurous, it is legal but some people might not want to do this as it does not conform to certain first world ways of doing things if I am getting your understanding? On a side note please share your BTC Lightning address so we can tip for your response for us viewers as we appreciate the helpful feedback as well. My family is big into crypto so that is why we have been looking at El Salvador as well but I have always had an affinity for Nica as well.

    • @travellingroots
      @travellingroots 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@newworldmoney8926 You're very welcome. Scott is a great resource on Nicaraguan life and was a great help to us too, before we moved!
      Happy to speak about cost. The car cost us $3000 dollars, and the lawyer was $35. He had the seller take the car to the office of the sellers lawyer, and went over all the paperwork (and made some changes) to ensure everything was above board. Those were the only costs involved so far. The car came with papers and insurance. Important to make sure the car has the green registration card. You need to carry it (and the insurance) document with you when driving, along with your driving licence.
      You are absolutely right regarding regarding our use of the term "adventurous". A lot of people are not comfortable doing this although it is legal. For us, we certainly wouldn't recommend doing it with an expensive car. A cheap little run around is another story. If you want to buy an expensive car, then we recommend you opening a corporation and putting the car in the name of your company. With cheap cars this isn't really cost effective, but expensive cars it's certainly worth it.
      That's really cool about your crypto background! El Salvador is certainly the place for that. I've added our BTC Lightning address to our linktree page found in our page description :)
      Any donations are certainly extremely welcome! Don't discount Nicaragua though! Much more affordable than El Salvador (since El salvador switched to the US dollar prices have shot up) and also just a really cool place with great diversity of nature.
