Ironically, I'd *love* to see a video of what products you hated! It's nice to know what doesn't work for your hair type, or just doesn't work AT ALL (for what's described/advertised, anyway), so we can be more informed, save money, and buy something else that works instead!
Also, long ramble ahead, but I tried out the Tootilab leave-in and gel due to you and your sis' recommendations from a previous video, and I rather love them! Helps they were on sale and I was running low on my hair products. (I got the shampoo and conditioner too but haven't used them yet, trying to use up my previous Verb volume set first, will update when I do use them.) I appreciate that they're concentrated so I don't have to use a lot of either the leave-in or gel for my fine but long 2C-3A dark hair, so it'll last me a good, long time, which is automatically more bang for my buck! So far, they work splendidly for the moody weather that is south-eastern Texas. We literally haven't gotten a cold spell that went under 50 degrees Fahrenheit until this very week (hadn't even gotten below 65 F until the middle of Nov. lmao), so fighting any potential humidity has been a godsend. Not absolutely zero frizz, but pretty close (especially with my lazy/quick methods of styling)! Even with using more than I should for the gel to make more of a cast, it does get scrunched out overnight, and maintains my curl memory the best I've had in a long time, if not ever. I went 2 days without needing a refresh, and simply refreshed with a few sprays of water, maybe a little oil if it was particularly dry that day. Lasted 4-5 days until I needed to shampoo, but still looked pretty good for the level of frizz I was used to. I wanted to mention that my previous almost-empties (will be empty soon enough, haha), the Eva NYC leave-in conditioner mentioned here (the fine hair version), and the Curlsmith hydro style flexi jelly, weren't really working well for me. I wasn't getting enough conditioning from the leave-in, even in the heat of summer, nor enough humidity blocking to stop the frizz from either the leave-in or the gel. The gel would maybe last one night, and leave me with frizz and a lack of curl retention. If I tried to refresh, I'd end up needing to brush it out and rewet it entirely to remotely get my curl back (usually S-shaped or ringlets, depending on the part of the head they come from). I also used the VERB curl foaming gel before it got reformulated, and while I like it for the softness and curl definition it gives, it can only do so much to keep the frizz away. Still, while trying to use up the last I have of the bottle, it seems to be working pretty well with the Tootilab leave-in conditioner, so it's a win on the dryer days at least. My last gel, Curlsmith's shape-up aqua gel, worked pretty well, but had the same issue of lack of curl retention (to a lesser degree), and made my hair a little too crunchy/crispy, leaving a white cast, despite scrunching it out and all that. I remember their air-dry cream worked nicely, but that I needed a bit more moisturizing. So, I believe my hair loves moisture and dislikes protein (maybe not entirely but doesn't need a lot), but needs humidity blocking on top of that so the moisture holds. Makes sense since I don't blow-dry more than once a week (I do use a microfiber towel, the perfect haircare one), nor blow-out or straighten my hair, maybe only once in a blue moon, making it rather healthy (despite the back of my head/crown area being the most prone to breakage). Still willing to try out their shine gel or in-shower style fixer though, whenever I get around to it, haha. Hopefully they restock the shine gel since I think my hair would like that formula more. On that note, I'm still waiting on that hair bonnet to solve all my tossing and turning issues, causing the cap to fall off (entirely or partially), and flattening my hair in some form or manner. Best luck I've had so far in retaining my curls at night is using a flat lay claw clip to loosely sorta pineapple my hair on top of my head. Doesn't help the back layers from flattening that much, even doing the two-part method (front half pinned up, back half left down), but it's better than letting it all loose.
Mel!!!! Do you understand that we all love you ? 😊 we love the whole long whatever you are talking about as long as You are talking or better yet, being you 😅 😘😘😘😘
As someone with grey haired curls I avoid caster oil in my products so I was saved the Meille experience. In truth you are the one who drilled reading the ingredients into me.
I’ve been using the aveda be curly products since I was a preteen whose hair was mostly frizz. It is expensive, but it’s so insanely worth the price. I also really like their perfect blow dry spray and their nutriplenish leave in conditioner.
Keeping it real! Lol😂 I’m trying The Ordinary glycolic acid toner rn and my night moisturizer is Olay retinol 24. There’s results and I get compliments on my skin. Goodnight Mel.
In my 76th year of natural curls and this is the first year I’ve loved them. I found Floland - a S Korean brand. It’s a totally new world for me. I only use 2 products (aside from shampoo) now - Biotin Scalp Cooling Ampoule and their Premium Soothing Booster Essence. For whatever reason these 2 products are amazing!
This was great! Yes to the worse (unfinished) products of the year! And if you haven't tried the Donna's Recipe gel.....its fire for my course wavy hair!
My very first products I got were the Aveda Be Curly curl enhancer cream ,Deva Curl Gel and Curl Crème, Quidad gel and AV products . I noticed products with Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein helped my hair get springy. I’m a fan of the Curlsmith Purple Protein products and gel. I do love custards and jellies. I want to try Bounce Curl Gel, Briogeo crème and gel and Jessiecurl. Really great video Mell !
@@lucidlemonarts7597 They have actual stores? Or are they combined with another like Ulta. I would love to try the primer but it’s too expensive for me if it fails.
You look beautiful! FWIW my favorite product of the year is the Mielle oil, not necessarily for any hair growth but for how it defines my hair along the length and ends. I finish off every style with it and haven’t had any problems 🤷♀️ If you have a similar finishing oil recommendation I’d love to hear it this one was the perfect medium balance I found.
Kick Ass Job Mell!! I have got to say, I love Aveda too!! But I think I am going to give Olaplex a try as well. My hair is still trying to find it's way. I met an Aveda Rep online over Black Friday. She is sending me a care package of all sorts of Aveda curly hair sample product in the mail. I'm very anxious to see what she sends. Also I was curious if you have ever checked out any Redken Products? I have been using one for a couple of weeks and it seem to be helping. It is called Redken Acidic Bonding Curls leave-in treatement. I was just curious your thoughts.
I stopped the video half way through so if you did mention it in this video nevermind lmfao. Do you still use Curlsmith products ? That is my all time favorite for my curlssss.
Ugh, Eva NYCs primer formula has totally changed recently according to their website. Get the old stuff while you can, not sure how the new formula will work.
Good to know! Honestly, I wasn't considering repurchasing their primer (I got the fine hair version), due to the spray bottle leaking anytime I try to spray it out on my hair or hands. Only a few drops, but still a hassle to clean off the bottle to avoid stickiness, yuck.
Now I know what I'm getting with my gift cards! Btw dunno if you’re into nyc vlogs but if so, you might like mine. I’d be sooo grateful if you swung by and took a peek.
GLORY!!!'m favoured, $140K every 3weeks! And am retired i can now give back to the locals in my community and also support God's work and the church. God bless America 🇺🇸 ❤️
Hello, how do you achieve such biweekly returns? As a single parent i haven't been able to get my own house due to financial struggles, but my faith in God remains strong.
YES!!! That's exactly her name (Elizabeth Ann Larson) so many people have recommended highly about her and am just starting with her 😊 from Brisbane Australia🇦🇺

Jessicurl gel has been a game changer for my fine curly hair..not heavy but holds the curls with minimal frizz
Is your hair on the curlier side or the wavier side? Mine is fine, wavy, and frizzy, and I need good products!!
I need to try Jessicurl and the Briego ! I’ve heard Jessicurl leaves the hair kinda feeling like there’s a lot of product in it. I hope that’s wrong.
Your hairstyle is giving celebration. It's beautiful.
I’m loving your makeup, your hair, your earrings, your top….!
Same! I bought similar earrings at a craft show/makers market a month or so ago!
Mell, I love your videos! 😂 And the “outtakes” have me dying 😆😆😆

Thanks to you, I’m now a huge Aveda fan and they had a fantastic sale a few weeks ago. Also your makeup and top look really pretty. Happy Holidays!

This was great! Yes to the worse (unfinished) products of the year!
And if you haven't tried the Donna's Recipe gel.....its fire for my course wavy hair!
This video was so helpful and can you also share a reel on how to do your hairstyle and what the hair cut is? I’m taking my lob to a bob in January!!

Would loooove a makeup tutorial. Imma keep saying it till you do it! 😂😂
Your occasional American southern accent is giving me life 😂
That verb mask was a failure, i do love their gel.
I really wanna try Aveda 😩
In the Aveda stores they give free samples that last me 2-3 uses!

@ they have actual stores ‼️
Hi Mel! Love you videos ❤
I’m getting my 4th (5th?) restock of the be curly primer for Christmas lmao. I can’t not use it! Wash days just aren’t the same without it.
I take calcium and magnesium supplements with Zinc and Vit D. They help me sleep. Love ya Mel ❤

Can you please review the Doux Bee Girl Collection!🙏🎀
You're so beautiful Mel! And I love your earrings! Where they from??
Hi mell, do I still need to use conditioner if I plan to put olaplex no.6?
Kick Ass Job Mell!! I have got to say, I love Aveda too!! But I think I am going to give Olaplex a try as well. My hair is still trying to find it's way. I met an Aveda Rep online over Black Friday. Redken has a curly shampoo & conditioner lune that is very good!
My hair hates coconut oil. It's like it dries out from it. Any ideas on hydrating curl creams from drug store that don't contain coconut oil?
If you compared K18 leave in to Olaplex what is Olaplex’s comparable item? The #9?
What is good gel and leaving conditioner for thick wavy and curly
Mel can you do a video or a quick chat about shower heads and what you recommend, please?❤
I stopped the video half way through so if you did mention it in this video nevermind lmfao. Do you still use Curlsmith products ? That is my all time favorite for my curlssss.
I have wavy hair....
Please tell me what products should i buy???
What clarifying shampoo do you recommend that's preferably no more than $15?
Kinky Curly Come Clean.
I’m so sad that I am allergic to olaplex 😫. Why god whyyyyyy? Though I am thanking him for K18.
Yaaa! ❤
