I've only seen episodes 1-3 of Ice Queendom but basically there is a mind influencing Grim that is basically a dream weed that infected Weiss and Juan much earlier on. It can only be fought in the infected person's dream. In Weiss's dream she is in charge, because season 1 Weiss had that princess/queenly personality. My guess is that is the reason why Crescent Rose had that other form, and the sniper rifle was on the wrong end from Ruby's point of view was that it was how Weiss saw Crescent Rose and thought that is how it should work. Basically speaking though Ruby and the others were invading her dream where she was getting the respect, authority, power, and privilege she felt she deserved in her princess heart and wanting to drag her back to being Ruby's lancer, a second string second in command hero playing second fiddle to some kid from the boonies who should be kissing her shoes and thanking her for the privilege of being in her presence.
