I really like the way this exhaust sounds on the FL5, but I have seen other install videos and the quality of the exhaust, especially the welds, seems substandard. What are your thoughts? Is it a system worth buying at $1500?
I did notice that but the quality of the components itself is very good and so is the fitment. I love the way it sounds. We are AWE dealers and have only heard positive feedback. That is a good looking and great sounding car! Trying to decide between an FL5 and a GRC and videos like this point me one direction haha. Do you drive this in winter in NY? The AWD is the only thing I feel the Corolla has going for it over the Type R. I'm in PNW so it's not completely necessary but I have loved AWD in my STI's the past 10 years of winter. Thanks!
Go for it! FL5 > GR. I thought about switching but the GR is too small and so basic looking. FL5 Outperforms on the track too. Just run some winter tires and you’ll be fine. I daily mine with 18k miles now

Nope, no valves

I sold the Milltek for this. Double the price and was too raspy
@BuyYourBuild oh sweet. Is the AWE a deep throaty sound? I had an invidia on my old car and the sound was really deep. But a nameless exhaust I had previously just had a good tone but it wasn't deep at all
I didn't know Nameless made Type R Exhausts. I would say the AWE does have a deep tone to it compared to Milltek. When I first heard the exhausts on the FK8 I was never a fan, which is why I didn't mind keeping the exhaust stock on the FL5. But after a couple weeks of it installed it sounds even better now@@everymangamer1608

Have you heard the difference between touring and track in person? They sound alike on YT
The sound difference is mostly from within the cabin. Track has much more drone

@@BuyYourBuild I actually figured it out. It’s not the dash it’s the plastic around the rear view mirror. I installed a dash cam and the noice went away because the plastic is hitting the cord now and not plastic.

Press up on the plastic while you’re driving to test if it’s that.

No drone as AWE touring comes with the 180 technology to eliminate drone.

There is the slightest bit of drone on Decel but very quiet when cruising
I love the Type R but goddamn it sounds like shit.
