This is my favorite song from the album. I cried so many tears when I first heard it. The language & sounds of my people combined with my favorite group, it truly made my whole holiday season already! ❤🥰 Also - what you’re asking isn’t ignorant. He's basically saying “Praise Jesus“ or “Jesus Be Praised“ in Lingala (I believe). It’s one of many African languages!
@ChristinaMarie Don't know if you follow QoFy Reacts, The joy he expressed when reacting to this song almost made me cry. Check it out if you haven't seen his reaction. He has it under "an emotional reaction"
THIS is such an important part of this album! The connection and general "I see you" of including styles, artists and languages that might not usually be highlighted in mainstream western holiday music! So wonderful.
I'm sooooo glad someone reacted to this song, that for me is THE BEST SONG HANDSDOWN of the new album. The others are great but this one...Jesus. I just can't wait to see them perform this on live I will go crazy in front of my tv screen because I won't be able to see them in person. Usually I don't like when they feature with other artists but here..the mashup is incredible. African music is LIFE. Nice reaction by the way.
This went STRAIGHT to my regular playlist, and I shoot down anyone who complains that it's not time for Christmas songs yet because I'm sorry, sure it has some Joy to the World in there, but 'joy can be hard to come by' is a NOW lyric and I will die on that hill. This is hands-down my favorite song on the album and it blows all the others away so much that I've actually decided to hold off on listening to much of the rest so they can be a surprise closer to Christmas.
When they announced the new album, they did a 40 second preview of the Joy to the World part that was blowing everyone away. It's on their page under videos.
I wish I could answer your question about the African sound.... I am sitting there in ignorantville with you buddy! 😂 This whole album is fire! Thank you for your reactions!!!
It's easy to enjoy African music because it is at the heart of every strain of music that can be included in MOBO; the chants, the call and response between people or person and instrument, the pentatonic scale, the rhythms - all infuse everything from Blues to Gospel to Rock and Roll to Hip Hop and Rap and everything between right up to this day and no doubt beyond. We feel it without realising what it is unless we are already familiar with African music. I'm old, white and Scottish but there was a time when I listened to little other than African music, traditional, jazz and pop and I still immediately gravitate to songs or ttreatments that utilise African elements. Pentatonix, as with all their covers, are respectful to and acknowledge their influences which is one of the reasons I admire as well as enjoy their music.
I think this is my second favorite on the album. Invincible is #1, Prayers for This World is a very close #3. You should watch the very short video they did of the Joy to the World portion they did to announce their album. It's just the 5 of them, but it is stellar.
This is my favorite along with Invincible! I just switch “favorite” every other day. Star on Top is my next favorite. I recommend that you watch the interview (it’s about 37 min long) between Jacob Restituto (a reactor) and Ben Bram (PTX’s “6th member”)- not to react to, but to just gain background information about the album, how it was produced, etc. It’s fascinating and makes the album even more impressive to listen to. 😊
For some reason, when I first heard the Joy To The World teaser, it sounded a bit ominous. I think it’s because they were singing about joy in a minor key. Producer Ben Bram said they wanted to do a straight mash-up of Joy To The World and this other song, but it wasn’t working so Pentatonix wrote another song inspired by Joy ToThe World. Now it no longer sounds ominous at all.
It's one of my favorites. I've bought the CD and literally have listened to it over 100 times. I really like Invincible and Hark the Herald Angels. I love almost all of the songs.
THE SONG IS FEATURING A NIGERIAN MAN NAMED GRACE LOKWA HE IS A GOSPEL SINGER. HE WROTE THE SONG KUMAMA PAPA EH, EMMANUEL POSTED GRACE'S VIDEO WHICH GAVE HIM THE PUSH HE NEEDED TO BECOME WHAT HE IS TODAY
This is one of the most beautiful songs they’ve ever done, and the most interesting mashup. Great reaction but PTX would never allow something said in one of their songs that couldn’t be clearly understood or interpreted. This is especially important in the context of Christmas. No speaking in tongues or inane babbling. The use of loo-loo-waah, for example, gives voice to an instrument laying the foundation on which to build the lyric structure. Those instruments are clearly defined and intentional so it gives us something to hold on to, so we are carried along with the current of the music.
The song Kumama Papa E is a Congolese gospel song by Grace Lokwa (Low-kwa) and his band. PTX sampled it for this mash-up. Yes, Kumama Papa are actually words not fillers - they mean (if I'm recalling correctly) "Dear Father" or Papa! Here is a link to the original song Kumama Papa by Grace Lokwa! I'm not even Christian - I'm pagan! But this song... it's gorgeous!!! ruclips.net/video/NpyrcshqU2k/видео.html Oh, and by the way - those filler words that you're talking about - like Fa-la-la-la-la or Do-wa-didy-didy-dum-didy-do - are known as "vocables" - just nonsense words to fill in the sound - and they appear in songs from around the world. Kumama Papa E are definitely words, not vocables.
But I don't think he knew it was a Congolese, Lingala language. Qofy has the best reaction. I love when he listened by himself and loved it all over again when he played it for his brother.

Grace Lokwa is the featured artist. And Yay! Watch QoFyreacts channel when he reacts to this track. Amazing!

Kumama Papa translates to Father be praised - you can find the song with English translations.
Kumama Papa eh means Yahweh be praised! Grace Locwa is a Congolese gospel singer!

In case you haven't seen the announcement yet, Disney+ is streaming their Christmas special this year. I think it's December 2nd or 3rd.

ON REPEAT! I cannot stop listening to it. They always come through with a new fave Christmas song for me. A wall of beautiful sound indeed.
My favorite on the album! ❤ So so fun! This song gives me goosies.
Invincible, Kid on Christmas, and Hark the Herald are also amazing!
Joyous!! simply joyous. Great song. Thanks man for the reaction, that was nice

Another creative PTX endeavor that leaves us all speechless! Thanks for working your way through this beautiful album.

I would recommend watching Quofys video where he reacted to this. He breaks down some of the origin.

Hello SalvoG. Another great one from this PTX 2022 Christmas Album. Just a great production. Loved how much you enjoyed this one.
I love the song and the collab. Thanks for the reaction. Pentatonix did it again!!!

I think this is my 2nd favorite, Invincible is still my fav though.
Soooooo glad you are doing this one!! It is one of the most gorgeous ones on the new album. I hope you end up doing all of the ones on it!!!
Isn’t this song just purely incredible??
Love this song so much!!!

No Grace Lokwa is Congolese Singer and Songwriter but Emmanuel is a Nigerian singer both incredibly talented
@@ladylove7268 OH, OK...I WASN'T SURE OF THE EXACT PLACE BUT I LOVE HIM EITHER WAY ❤❤🩹❤🩹❤
Its a CONGOLESE SONG NOT A NIGERIAN.
