The Upper Mantle consists of Pyrolite (3 parts of ultramafic rocks+1 part of Basalt) and the Lower Mantle consists of "Periodtite" and minerals of higher densities.
P waves - Primary waves - much intense and are parallel to the direction of propagation S waves - Secondary waves- comparatively less intense and are perpendicular to the direction of propagation
There actually is no way to know the age of the earth due to several factors. A. Plate tectonics. The constant subduction and upheaval of the crust only allows for a relatively finite number of years to be calculated. B. Since we cannot actually reach the material in the planetary nucleus of the planet, geology and volcanology at that level become conjecture and theory. As you may have noticed in the lecture, there are many "theories" regarding the thickness, viscosity, composition, and temperature of the various layers of the earth. These would all have bearing on any calculations made. C. We simply do not know enough to even guess.

Gutenberg discontinuity concept is not given in ncert ....from where I have to read so that I can find everything
Fundamentals of geophysics by William lowrie
Mam what are (S waves ) and what are (P waves)
pls explain this two things
P waves - Primary waves - much intense and are parallel to the direction of propagation
S waves - Secondary waves- comparatively less intense and are perpendicular to the direction of propagation
concept of temperature increase ??.
can u explain it again
If scientist were able to dig only upto 12km then how these factors like temperature become clear that it is increasing and then decreasing.
Plz clear
When Volcanic Eruption is there scienctist find out what comes out from it or during earthquake or during flood many reasons are behind it
