I remember Chen saying that someone should re-release this model with updated specs because it was the best Blackberry ever made. I know there's a new one in the making, but I think it'll probably be similar to the KeyOne size and shape. You're right. There's no phone on the market right now that is as compact and at the same time a productivity machine. They can maintain the form factor while increasing the screen size simply by minimizing bezels, especially the top, and bringing the keypad a bit lower. Update the specs and put android on it with the Hub and some of the BB native apps. I'd buy such phone in a heartbeat. And I know there's plenty of other who would jump on it. We are a niche market at this point, that someone needs to cater to.
God loved this phone. I wish I would have kept it. Kinda tempted to buy one on ebay, for nostalgic purposes. I want to send a text on this so bad right now.

They already did revolutionize smartphones with the 9000 bold from 2008. But that had just 3G, and the build quality was excellent for the time. But people generally prefer full touch screen instead of keypads on phones. So iPhones and Androids dominated the market.
Blackberry/RIM missed out on an absolutely WIDE OPEN opportunity to swoop into the “simple phone user” market. The only thing i hate about BB OS is it needs special BB Internet services. Cant even use wifi if we don't have BIS. In my country tho, how about u guys
Yessss, it worries me. Especially once they shut down BB10 device support. Yeah, we are really limited once BIS goes away. Functionality is lost for sure.
I had one. Loved it. Though had a glitch where if i was using the web and a site had java script the phone would hard lock and id have to pull the battery to reset.
Calling and texting but limited texting. No group chats and mms is spotty if at all. Same with wifi. Really limited but depends on carrier and country. Thanks for watching!
Hi, I'm looking for the latest blackberry model with text and calls still working only. This model looks great, but as I understand the browser still has some functionality? Any insight would be greatly appreciated
The browser really doesn't work all that well and anything much older than this you might have some real issues getting activated. Depends on your country and carriers, but still. Let me know. Thanks!
Such a great video !! :) with the Bole 9900 are you able to send mms even though BIS is non-existent ? Thinking of getting this or the 9790 for just calling and texting but trying to figure out if mms will go through.
I will take a look at it the next time I have it out and see...but at this point...I don't think there are going to be a lot of services left...at least here in the US. Thanks for watching!
Yep! I still have a sim in mine and for right now it works for those things! Call and text is fine. Data and MMS is more complicated depending on your carrier and country. Thanks!
please can you tell me from where to buy this?? these mobiles are rarely available in india and im a die hard fan of blackberry.... please if anyone can help @stevealiciousTech
I can't tell you, unfortunately! Do you have access to eBay? That probably would be the best bet for these at this point. Let me know! Thanks for watching also!
I have it on ATT and it is barely still functional. Calls only really, texts as long as they are person to person and not group are ok but that is about it unless you want to risk things not getting through or not getting messages. Thanks for watching!
Well, app wise it will have issues and won't work for those. Basically call, text, email, and we browsing is all that is left. Possibly youtube and facebook through the browser but it might be slow. Let me know how you make out!
Facebook works thru the default browser with some security/certificate prompts. I am able to access it fine via UC browser. I'm trying to load opera mini here currently as the one on the BB world no longer works. Love the build quality. I had the 8310, 8320, 8520 before and my dad had the Pearls, Storm, 8520 as well as as another one. Fond memories
RUclips does not work on default sadly. Steps: make sure you install and configure opera mini from BB world using data not wifi. Either pop in a Sim with data or thru mobile data hotspot from another phone. Important is to install using network data. Then after you can use it normally using wifi
Update: have managed to install Opera Mini on this. Now even restricted sites I can access like crackberry.com Sadly opera mini cannot be used to play RUclips videos. Will update if I find a work around. Steps: make sure you install and configure opera mini from BB world using mobile data not wifi. Either pop in a Sim with data or thru mobile data hotspot from another phone. Important is to install using network data. I did the latter. Then on settings > network and connections > mobile network > data services is set to ON even though there is no Sim card. Then after you can use opera normally using wifi
I don't know, unfortunately! If it's not there, it might be because certain services are shut down with your carrier. I know I have lost services generally on my network with my 9900 so maybe your cellular provider is no longer supporting it although I don't know why it wouldn't still be there as an option. Have you used it with other devices or that one before?
@@StevealiciousTech Thanks very much for the reply. I still wish to buy a refurbished of the 9900, hopefully -- because of your video. I've always like qwerty phones.

Will this model still function for texting, calling, and connecting to Wi-Fi?
Calling and texting but limited texting. No group chats and mms is spotty if at all. Same with wifi. Really limited but depends on carrier and country. Thanks for watching!
Tried to reactivate my bb bold today, couldn't do it at verizon and it was a verizon bb
Thanks!
I have a Miyoo Mini which uses this phone's screen 🔥 I loved this phone when it was about ❤️
Looking for an anti-iphone to use. It looks like the blackberry 9720 is 2 years newer. Would do group text?
Anything with BB10 seems to still be doing group texting. BB 7 I wouldn't trust with that at this point. Thanks for watching!
I remember waaay back when my parents had these. They kept these even 2 years after I got my first smartphone, the evo shi(f)t.
Please I beg you give the buying link
Really only eBay at this point unless Amazon is available for you!
@@StevealiciousTech I searched on Amazon it's not available at Amazon
Men i miss the blackberry days. I miss my bold 9900 and my passport i miss the hub function. And bbm. 😢
mne nejde vyhladat siet , len 2G alebo 3G nejde mi SIM karta co z tym?
Could you do a messaging UI run through on windows phone and all it can do in 2020
I have a few Windows phone videos coming up! Thanks for watching.
Such a great video !! :) with the Bole 9900 are you able to send mms even though BIS is non-existent ? Thinking of getting this or the 9790 for just calling and texting but trying to figure out if mms will go through.
Last I could check you could SMS phone to phone but MMS isn't working at all. Thanks for watching!
Can you please make a video on its RUclips. Because I was have the same model last year and in it youtube audio can come but video was not playing
I will take a look at it the next time I have it out and see...but at this point...I don't think there are going to be a lot of services left...at least here in the US. Thanks for watching!
Will this work today just for calling and texting? August 2021
Aliexpress ;)
In the U.S. what carrier works for this phone? Bought a used Verizon unlocked 9930 but having a hard time finding out what carrier supports it.
I have it on ATT and it is barely still functional. Calls only really, texts as long as they are person to person and not group are ok but that is about it unless you want to risk things not getting through or not getting messages. Thanks for watching!
Somebody out there who’s using a bb 9810? What can you do with it?
Phone calls and texts pretty much is it at this point! Thanks for watching!
StevealiciousTech thank you for answering! I’m getting one next month. Feeling vintage 🥴
What apps can this run? I am getting one today. I only need a browser, Facebook RUclips on this
Well, app wise it will have issues and won't work for those.
I cannot access crackberry via default browser by can using UC.Problem is UC browser does not honor the touch interface
Now even restricted sites I can access like crackberry.com
Sadly opera mini cannot be used to play RUclips videos.
I have one problem in this phone....
What SIM use in that phone....
Please tell...
I'm from India. I'm use Airtel sim but it didn't work
What can I do
Depends on the one you got but it should be a mini sim I believe. The bigger, older sim size. Thanks!
@@StevealiciousTech thanks
Hi, i can't find mobile hotspot on my 9900 bold blackberry ...it doesn't exist ...how can i make it appear...tks
@@StevealiciousTech Ive got 2 bold 9900, the first one is correct ( No problem with mobile hotspot) but Im still searching it on in my seconde BBRY
Hi. Can you install Viber on this in 2022? Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Qwerty keypads are the best.
Don't believe so at this point, unfortunately!
@@StevealiciousTech Thanks very much for the reply. I still wish to buy a refurbished of the 9900, hopefully -- because of your video. I've always like qwerty phones.
I have a BlackBerry Bold 9900 and Bold 9700 using both for seperate lines they both work great for calls and texts!
Oh they are great for that...calls and just single texts work great still! Thanks for watching!
RIP My Blackberry 8530
💐⚰️💐😑🙏🏿
2020 blackberry 9900 and passport still turn on and work well. Passport as daily driver. 9900 as second phone.
Haha I like it! The ultimate combo! Glad it still works for you. Thanks for watching!
@@StevealiciousTech keep up good work mate.im still miss the good old blackberry old days. Wish the blackberry making and upgrade for passport with android.
Can you use Kahoot in the browser I’m going to buy it and want to know
can this be used for just making calls and text only?
Depends on your country and carrier!
@@StevealiciousTech Tmobile USA?
I had one of those, then the Curve. Or maybe it was the other way round.
I think the Curve first but both were good!
@@StevealiciousTech I've just checked. The Curve was released in 2009, and the Bold in 2011. I think one had a ball type tracker pad and the other a flat one.
My bold still has that shield on the top right... I wonder why
Where in the world are you? Might be a region thing. Thanks!
capable of sending photo text or photos and if so is it 3mp or 2mp?
Photo texts I would not rely on at this point. The service for them is carrier specific and very spotty. BB10 devices you are still ok but I would not trust BB7 devices with media messages. Thanks!
is it available now?
one of the best and the most premuim smartphone back then
Absolutely! Thanks for watching!
I enjoy watching your video, you are great, I have a BB 9990 I still use it and love it
Thank you! Great device! Everything still work on it for you?
It's because of ads they want you to jump into the system so you can look at ads That's what it's all about
I miss my Blackberry so much. Bold circa 2008. Fuck the iphone!
Hopefully we get something good out of the new one! Have you thought about the Titan Pocket?
I still use it as my Phone, its a phone and I text using it. nPeople these days are no rickety about applications. I love it, so much better than silly Apple phones or androids. When it breaks I buy another new one for 35 RSE.
They are really great as disconnect devices for sure! Phone and text is all you need! Thanks!
Does it support 4g LTE....and can we use internet on it after connecting to wifi
It does have 4G but as far as the internet...my results have been spotty. Wifi should work fine, you would think but I haven't been able to get it to connect properly anymore. Maybe an issue with my unit or maybe a BIS being offline thing...hopefully yours still works! Thanks for watching!
@@StevealiciousTech and does the Google Chrome work on it properly...??
Can you still connect to Internet and use any browser?
I have trouble with it on ATT and not using any browser, no. thanks for watching!
I want to buy it from where I cloud buy it please tell
Great video
So you can still call and text right? I just need a 2nd phone :)
Call and text for sure! 4G even! Second phone will look cool and feel even cooler. Don’t forget your polo shirt.
@@StevealiciousTech Awesome thanks! Just subbed :)
I wish we could swipe the motherboards like engine swipe on cars…
Just bought this beauty yesterday
Ooooo very nice! You will love the feeling of this phone! Promise! Thanks for watching!
I’m buying a curve bold and a classic on Friday , I’m gunna use the bold for my daily phone then I’m keeping the other two as spares, I’m buying a iPhone 6s for my apps , insta, music, porn , Bitcoin wallet etc , data only phone and the bb for text and call only it should work fine still
Legend
I am happy to support. I enjoy your content 😊 really nice videos
Thanks! I really appreciate it! I like doing the videos. I have so much of this old stuff I love talking about.
So sad. How long Will the passport still be usable?
Hopefully a long time! It still runs great. Snappy for texts and email. It is hanging in there! Thanks for watching!
