The fact so many people will spend 10 or 20x the amount of the watch to mod it just shows how great the base Royale is. It's basically the digital Willard.
In a way it's similar to how many expensive pre-made watches contain an ~€30 movement which the rest of the piece is built around. The electronics of the Royale are cheaper, but compared to many pre-built watches, the ratio isn't that far off. If anything, the electronics are more reliable and long-lasting, thus worth the upgrade if you like the functionality or look. Not to knock analogue or mechanical timepieces, they have their place, in my case my Vostok of similar total cost continually lives on my wrist.
On the back of your video I paid for the fullsteel upgrade and the rubber strap. All great items, easy to mod and came within 5 days. Great all round. Thank you for your video
love this, I bought one.of these watches a while ago just to add to the collection, but love how simple it is to pimp It up a bit and really make it feel like a more premium watch. thanks for the video :)
I've got 5 of them, 3 of them out of the box, then the other 2 are modified: - Bronze case with black FKM rubber strap bronze buckle + black backplate (this one I wear the most by far). - Matte case + bracelet + matte backplate engraved + sunburst silver faceplate. If they did this one in the brushed A168/F-105 that would be the winner (already modded one, it looks absolutely killer- but it's not an AE1200). Think all the sensible people would want that, an AE1200 with the "gunmetal" brushed finish of the F-105. With the sunburst faceplate, please :D.
Hey Dan. I do like the finished look. I’ve always stayed away from this watch, and most of Casio because I’m not one for plastic or resin but the final mod makes it look premium. It’s a bit of an IKEA, approach in that self assembly is required.
Yes please, sapphire is game changing. Great quality parts, been butchering countless skmei copies for their metal bracelets for years (which is a good cheap way to do this sort of thing). Was considering the lf20 for mods myself.. might still do it but there's not quite so many knackered examples on eBay for parts.
@watchmewithwatches You mentioned that the AE1200, AE1300, WS1600, & WS1700 all fit into the SKXmod case. The module and faceplate to the DW291H also fits.
Key selling point of buying these kits besides the fact that you can mod them, for the price, if the movement is ever damaged, you can always replace the movement.
Like always a cool mod, thanks! Did you take the right screws - looks like you took the short ones. A month ago I made a white nasa- watch with a cheap Casio homage (4€) and skx. Nice playtime 😊
@@c.s2001 Absolutely. Since I don’t find innovative and affordable designs for a couple of years now, I like to design my own. It’s a lot of fun for rainy days 🤗
You should have used the Steel Faceplate that came with the watch. So what, there are white dials inside black watch cases. It's called contrast. It gives a highlighting prominence to certian surfaces in the background of others. You need to have an eye for it.
Saludos amigó! Interesante video me interesa hacer lo mismo con mi reloj me puedes alludar como puedo conseguir este estuche de kit para hacerle un cambio a mi reloj en que plataforma lo puedo comprar si en Amazon. 👏👏🤗👍🇲🇽
This is a great kit, but I like their A168 one even better, and I’m kicking myself for not getting one because they are sold out of the satin silver case already. Argh!
I forgot to show my swiss made AR coating detector machine that uses advanced light refraction detection lasers to verify that this has a clear AR coating. Hope this helps.
I consider non-luxury Casio as en everyday wear whose affordability provides a ‘luxury’ of wearing a different watch every day! I can’t comprehend the concept of making it a kind of Luxury wear with mods costing 3-4 times more than the watch itself.. But it’s just me - “To each their own” !!
Yes. I forgot to mention I took my PADI test and went out specifically to the depth of 100m to happily verify it's 100m of water resistance. Hope this helps.
you're quite the joker. I wouldn't ask if there were information about the AR coating on the SKXMod website. The Ae1200 mod only mentions sapphire glass, while the A168 mod mentions AR coating. Otherwise, there are usually tests with a diamond tester tool to confirm sapphire glass. You don't need to go 100m deep underwater to check the waterproofing... Thanks for nothing.@@watchmewithwatches
It’s the equivalent of building a custom car or PC, its real value is within the eyes of the beholder…take the moonSwatch for example LOL, actually this mod will outlast moonSwatch
I'm a fan of the kit, but the price is steep. That opinion is based off the price of a stainless steel case and sapphire glass for other watches. Average price for something with similar finish is around $30-$40. Being that this is a "custom" case, I would be happier to pay $$50-$60 (which is still 2x the price of the watch). That's just my opinion though 😁
The fact so many people will spend 10 or 20x the amount of the watch to mod it just shows how great the base Royale is. It's basically the digital Willard.
It's probably the most popular Casio they make.

Well, heres a perfect example of something I never knew existed, but now that i know its out there, I feel the need to purchase. Godammit.
Do it. I did it a while back. It’s just awesome. And you can easily swap the module to a new one when you need to.
Yeah, me too!!! I always was an automatic watch kind of guy.....now this!!! Getting one ASAP!!!! My chicks gonna be mad....ugh....
I'm not even planning to do this, but I thoroughly enjoyed your video and the finished product!
Perfect timing - just bought the AE1200 and was considering this mod. Great video, thanks so much!
You won't regret it!

Glad to hear it! Enjoy
Thanks for the video, you’ve just sent me down a rabbit hole and looking forward modding a watch I don’t even own yet.
It's so fun. Especially when a few modules work perfectly in this case.
Mines currently housing the moon tide module from the new ws1700.
Yet again, a great video. Not everyone can afford a Rolex so love something you can afford...
Well said! Affordable fun.

Nice video. Very well executed. I am convinced, I will do this, but I will go for a reddish brown leather strap and polished steel case.
Awesome mod! 🤩 Thanks for sharing your tips 🙏

I modded mine a couple years ago. Black PVD coating for the case. Gold buttons and lettering. Sapphire glass. It’s in a new ball park now.
It makes such a difference doesn't it! Yours sounds super cool.
I got my royal yesterday. Will think about modding it.

Great video 👍 I do like these mod kits, but I wish they were a bit cheaper.
I know what you mean, but I think due to the limited competition it's acceptable.
The most beautiful mod ever
Clean video mate !

Thanks!
I love this mod.

And there are a number of different style modules that fit!
Hi, Sorry, a little late to the party. Great video, kit ordered. Did you ever mod the moon phase model? Cheers
Hi, I sure did, and it worked perfectly. I flipped it so I could buy more stuff! More videos on the way. Thanks for watching.
cool❤❤
That’s very cool!
do you have more pics or vids of it with the green rubber strap? i'm thinking of following your setup.. thanks!
I don't I'm afraid! It works well on the green though, a more rugged colour for a rugged watch!
Bought the shiny kit....then sandblasted the crap out of it to make it "stealthy". Topped it up with silicone oil and now it's perfect 😊
Bought the blasted kit and polished it with my dremel. Gives it in my opinion a nice industrial look. Now it's perfect :-)

Can't help but wonder if the alarm volume is reduced after the mod. Lots of good quality heavy material used.
I think it may be a tad quieter. But only slightly.

I didn't like it! Just personal taste. I've polished and brushed it back to brass though and put in another case.
If I could set the digi-analog to a different time than the main, Id buy one.

The 1700 does not fit as a drop-in. Need to do an additional mod to get the 1700 to fit.

The Royale is a $90 watch where I am, so. No, it's not so crazy to spend a bit more to mod it.

Very fair points. I wonder if the price is what it is due to the lack of competition for kits for these specific models?
It’s cool and all but $150USD 😬.
For $100 I’d rather just buy a bunch of the same watch. No thanks!
