I’m very appreciative of the transparency. Good to know you’re not some shill for the analog gear companies. Unlike some guys in Nashville (CC & AM) trying to make us want to buy gear we don’t need or can’t afford.
Yeah brother, I’m on the same page when I watch other people. It annoys me too, I would never endorse something just because I’m being paid for it or being sent free gear. No offense to those guys, they’re living the dream, and honestly all the gear they get probably does sound good, but of course it will when it’s over $1000… however, when you constantly phrase things a certain way and make it a sales pitch because your affiliate links are a source of income, think it’s a disservice to your viewers from a educational standpoint.
I bougt a used Aphex Exciter for 350 bucks instead of the SP Vitalizer. Doesn't have that "wide" stereo expander, but does pretty much the same and provides loads of clarity and distinction to a mix.
I would argue against that, not to say it’s a bad choice if you get a good sound out of it then hell yeah. However, the SPL vitalizing has a patent technology in it that no other unit has on the market as far as its de-masking frequency solution
Nice Studio. You can tell that you put a lot of thought into selecting "CHOICE" pieces of gear. I've built my studio with the same intent by taking my time to buy very select "HIGH QUALITY" pieces. thanks BRO!
absolutely, I spent months researching before I picked a lot of this stuff, and even still you never know until you start using it within your own space
Being a home recording drummer, this video was perfect for me. Thanks for sharing your experience with your amazing collection of gear, you have excellent taste. Subbed!
The x interfaces by uad i love the A to D It has a sound I like but the D to A does need improvement I had compared to the symphony it’s way more open more depth same with lynx aura N
Killer home setup. I dont have any analogue anymore but was awesome to look through your collection. The acoustic treatment looks awesome on the ceilings too.
Thanks my man! It’s been a journey putting it together and I’ve realized it’s a constant effort. Like since this video I’ve returned the carnaby HE2 in pursuit of something else
@@braxal6983 I already did! After using it for about a week on multiple projects, It just wasn’t what I wanted it to be man, great unit, but not what I was looking for
I have that warm CL1B and it is phenomenal especially for that price. One of these days I'm going to try the SSL bus compressor I have the Tegeler creme RC for my master bus right now and I love being able to have recall but definitely want to try mid-side processing on the SSL. Good video 👌🏾
Thanks homie! The SSL bus comp, at least their new one looks pretty awesome. I haven’t used it, but I’ve heard demos and it looks like a great alternative to the Wes audio bus. I was between the two for a while. The mid side function on the fusion is crazy helpful to get even more out of your gear. I can’t recommend it enough for home studios/ even pro studios
Yo. I dig what you're doing. But, there are fundamentals to analog gear that separates it from digital recreations. Number 1 and most powerful to understand is the dynamic range to loudness ratio. This is the number 1 reason why a relatively pro mix can be done an SSL--4000 in 30 minutes vs hrs of ITB mixing.. With that, why does noboby do true peak to LUFS comparisons pre and post processing when comparing analog to digital recreations? Might be a hit..
Yeah I haven’t seen a video on that either? It’s not something I’ve thought about either just cause I already know I’m getting more headroom (if gainstaging properly) with analog gear… it’s good idea for a video
I can agree, but I wanted to make this video around the gear, as a lot of people tend to focus on it because let’s be honest, it’s the sexier thing to buy
Instead of mix cubes, I go with Optimus Pro 7's. Same idea, check your mix on little bad speakers. No reason at al lto pay more than $50 for a pair of small bad speakers. We use our Mixcubes as speaker stands for our Optimus 7's, and they are never even plugged into power.
Oh for sure, hell I’ve seen people use old cheap radios as a reference. Me personally, I love how the mids sound on the mixcubes, plus they just look cool to me
Hey man! Great video! I am in between the fusion and the SPL vitalizer. I know they are different boxes but which one would you pick if you could only have one? 🙏🏼thanks!
@@natan_abdala lol you’re like the 4th person to ask me this, so I guess I’ll make a video, cause why not… without a lot of detail because its complicated why.. the SPL is the last unit in my chain
@@natan_abdalahey man, I made that video answering your question about the chain of hardware… here you go! ruclips.net/video/vHfR-zy_E1Y/видео.htmlsi=MmEjchwHLq8QO2Wy
Absolutely, because I used the plugin for a long time, I think I even mentioned this in the video, but this a rare circumstance where the hardware sounds nothing like the plugin imo
good catch... Ill be honest, I hardly ever use them anymore man. I met Steven Slate at NAMM, as well as guys on his team and had them explain the concept to me. Because, I noticed I was able to use other headphones, even your DT 770s, with the software and was getting the same results. they explained that their headphones are tuned in a specific way, but truly, I just don't notice a difference man. However, before I had this treatment in my room, they worked great, and I would recommend the concept, but not their cheaply made headphones as the first pair I had broke (which was common). Just do some research on mixing under headphones vs monitors. Hope that helps brother
Why does everyone from the new world always call everything with mk in its title always call it M.K? It is a simple abreviation which stands for mark..Mark 1, Mark 2, mark 5.7.... its not the M.K. whatever!... OK rant over.

A budget alternative to the SSL Fusion is the often overlooked Focusrite Platinum Mixmaster. Be sure you get one with the digital output card.

Hey man, it’s not necessary, but if you got the cash I say it’s worth it if you’re serious about production
