Waking up to this is the best! Can't wait for the rest of the series. Dreaming of being on the Camino again, and particularly the Norte, before too long. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us! Buen Camino!!
Watched your whole Via Francigena vlog in the last couple of weeks! Am planning on doing part of the Francigena beginning in Lausanne to however far a month will take me next fall. I just get so THRILLED with the simple daily routine of walking a Camino. The simplicity and freedom of the days spent hiking through unknown territory with everything you need carried on your back! Nothing like it! I did the France’s Camino spring of 2016, SJP to Santiago and about 200 km of the Via Podiensis in the fall of 2018. Your drone shots are wonderful! They enable us to see so much more! So THANK YOU Enron!
Gracias Efren!!!!
I'm a big fan of your Camino's Vlog. I always thinking to do the Northern way, but can't find much resources from You Tube. Here it is you've done with beautiful vlogs for Camino del Norte! I can't wait to start watching all of them. Once again thanks for all the effort you've put into the Camino projects. Love it! God bless!
Efren, this is just what I needed for the lockdown. I've gone day by day thru your Camino Frances three times I enjoy your videos so much. Your videography and packaging are even better now. I'll want a stage a day to get out in the countryside vicariously. Thanks so much and God bless. Randy
Oh,😍 the Norte is the one I've been waiting for! The drone shots are already incredible, you will soon be hiking through where my great-grandfather was born in Asturias (I hope), and the Stetson is even back with us on this trip!🤠Life is good - even in quarantine!
Fantastic, Efren. I've been waiting for this. Sitting down to watch these as you put these out will be the best part of my day. I love the effort you put into these from the footage, the cinematic variety, the music choices, and the topic. The Norte is my next Camino whenever this world will allow me to do that again. Your vlogs are my pintxos until I can have the main course.
beautiful!!! me encanto San Sebastian!! definitivamente volvere! gracias x la informacion del albergue! no tan caro teniendo en cuenta la ciudad...well a lo mejor los precios cambian en verano...veremos...gracias Efren!
The Basque region is so beautiful my first encounter in Biarritz stopover for 2 days prior to Camino Frances May 2017. I broke the routine in 2019 because of a family in the UK, otherwise we may have met in 2019. Something like Stanely and Livingstone so sublime.
Smart more to skip the high trail just outside of Irun. I did the same. And those stairs to the right of the ferry drop off point were hellish. And not worth the trouble. The views were sketchy, next time I'll go left at the fork. Ciao.
Efrén’s videos are helping me in the coronavirus lockdown cause I was planning to walk the Camino again this May.. I guess I’ll get to at least see the country if I don’t make it
Loving these Efren....haven't followed you since your Frances journey - which I have to say was one of the best! This first day is amazing! My wife and I were in Bilbao last May - and fell in love with the place.
Beautiful footage and dialogue ... I started the Norte on 24 May 2019 ... so am so happy you have posted your camino. It looks a little different from a drone! I also took the lower route, but that was because it was so foggy I wouldn't have been able to see anything, anyway. Buen Camino ... can't wait to return to continue ... 😍
Thank you Efren! I will go and research Camino del Norte. Because of you I will possibly be doing Caminos every year for the next few years. First The French way hopefully September otherwise March next year. Glad to see the hat is back to protect you from the sun. You look so refreshed.
Efren, this is way better than any del Norte videos I have seen so far! What dedication! It brings back lovely memories as I made this pilgrimage last June, 39 x days of walking 823 kilometres. Took the high road from Irun this first day and I am 74....very difficult especially the first day but amazing views. The lower path looks beautiful too. Have done the Portuguese as well (Littoral from Fatima) so looking forward to that video. Next year am planning to do the Via de la Plata from Sevilla.
Espectacular y emotivo vídeo!! 🙏 En estos momentos de aislamiento, ver este vídeo me ha trasladado a mis días de peregrinaje. Emocionante!! Buen camino!! Ultreia 👍🏼
Hola Efrén I started watching your videos when you walk Camino Frances a few years back. I remember you worn flower behind your ear!!! lol So I just saw that you walked other routes but I really am interested in Del Norte because I want to walk it as my second Camino. Hope you are keeping safe. Please take care of yourself. Camino Awaits!!!!!
All the praise has been said. I don't need to add to it. But what I don't understand is how you get the drone to follow you or to go ahead of you, but looking back at you, when you appear to have nothing in your hands like a controller.
Yaay, the much awaited for Camino del Norte. This one will be my primer for when I do this route, hopefully within the next couple of years. I actually walked back along the stage Orio to San Sebastian in August 2018 when testing my rain gear before going to Irun to pick up my credential, but then I went to San Jean Pied de Port to start the Francés. I was in two minds on which Camino, my first, to do. However, after spending one night in SJPP I received "the call" to do the Francés.
Finally on the Camino again... you have been my inspiration for the Camino Frances and I will follow you with great interest for my future Camino del norte for the 2021. Thanks Efren
Efrén, congratulations for the beautiful imagens. I did the french way in october 2017 ,ande did with my wife the portuguese way, leaving Porto in 2021. I are planning to do the North way in 2027, I hope sucess to you.
Efren! Your Camino vlogs are so superior to all the rest that are out there. The drone & camera shots are amazing and after seeing just Vlog 01 of the Camino del Norte, I would like to walk it. So beautiful! Thank you. BTW, on my drive home today, I was listening to Alex Cuba. A fabulous musician who moved from Cuba to Canada (close to me) and worth a listen.
Efren you have been so helpful in our planning of the Portuguese and Norte Caminos this coming March through May 2023. If I could pick your brain, could you tell me how you were able to book the train from Compostela to Irun and how difficult were the three transfers along the way? Thank you so much. We are longtime followers but new subscribers.
I booked it in person at the train station, and the connections were easy. I did miss my last one going to the restroom but then then took the next regional train from San Sebastian to Irun.
Phenomenal first day film footage, you have set the benchmark for the rest of your Camino, a hard act to follow!! Good on you mate, looking forward to following you all the way through to Santiago
Without out a doubt I must of watched this particular vlog over 50 times I simply love it mainly because I can relate to the general area around San Sebastian. The only thing I would do differently is take the alpine track mainly to view the sea and the mountains.
Eventhough I really enjoyed your VLOG of VF, which seriously made me consider to let that one be the next long one after Camino Frances next year, I have been looking forward to see Your footages from Camino Notre since you told us you were going, back there at the Portuguese route. Your videos, especially your drone shots, seems to become more and more amazing! It reallye looks good, Efrén. I have fastened the seatbelt and am ready for the ride :D
Spectacular, as expected!! I admit, I held off from watching this playlist for fear that it would give me the bug to plan my next Camino, as your Frances series help me plan for my pilgrimage last Fall. And you know what? It has!! 😭😂👣 I look forward to binging the rest of this series. Hope you are staying safe and well! Buen Camino!!
Hi Efren, Thank you for all your content. Your videography was always really good, but you have stepped it up since the via Francigina. Very professional. I was hoping you could help me. I am thinking about walking the Camino del Norte early next year (pandemic allowing), and could use some advice/ feedback on how best to prepare in terms of maps, guides, mobile apps, stages, etc... Any advise you can provide me would be very helpful... Thanks.
thank you so much Ellipse. I used google earth pro on my phone. by the time you walk next year I will have finished posting all the map breakdowns and will have traced the route. you will find a lot of useful information in those videos. buen camino.
I can't believe that I have driven past the starting point of the Camino Del Norte so many times it's embarrassing but this vlog is definitely in top 2.
Will do this year arriving on the Norte in September/October via paris on the GR655. Do you think accommodation will be a problem? Guess you have answered a thousand tines, but did you do in the spring? Great video, really useful that you list your daily spend and where you stayed. I can see that I will use this along the way.
I did del Norte in April 2019 before the pandemic. I don't know if the infrastructure has already rebound. check Gronze for an up to date list of accommodations. Let me know who the Camino from Paris is like.
Certainly will let you know. The father of a friend of mine walked the Camino from Paris and said the problem was a lack of accommodation- sometimes he needed to take buses and trains off the trail to a centre with a hotel or hostel. So I am going to take a light tent as fall back. Disadvantage is that I might be carrying 10kg. Have a cook set- but guess I could scrap that and save 700g. Actually I’m starting east of Paris, from Brussels and after Belgium, will pass through Paris and Tours. From July I will tweet my progress to friends on a @LongWaySW. Now it’s mainly dormant, but will become active when I starting the trail. You would be welcome to follow. I’m afraid it’s amateur with phone photos, I would not know where to start with your impressive approach.
I just finished the Camino Frances this year. My camily and I have agreed to do the Del Norte in the summer of 2028. I may have to do the Portuguese route before then because man I miss it.
Hola Efren! I have just finished watching your Camino del Norte vlog from 3 years ago and was wondering which month of the year you were there. I have done from Aviles to Santiago in July and am now planning to do from Irun to Gijon. Thank you very much in advance for your answer and good luck for your upcoming walk 😃
@@Walk_with_Efren Thanks Efren, I've just become full member - Is it possible to access your route for the first week please ? which format could you provide please. best regards Shaun
Hello my friend, how are you? I have a question about Irun, do they have the pilgrim credential in the albergue? Did you saw hikking stores so we can buy walking pools when we arrive? Thank you so much, I love the videos!!!
Hi Ellen, I'm doing good. I hope you are as well. I got a credential in Santiago after I finished the Portuguese route and didn't bother to ask. I also arrived to Irún late at night and left early in the morning. I'm sure they have it just like in Saint-jean-pied-de-port if not San Sebastian is a mayor city where you could get anything you may need.
This video is simply amazing Efren. I am so happy for you that you got your Caminos in before this horrible shutdown and quarantine. We were planning to walk the Portuguese in early June, and the Norte in September. I guess this delay will just keep the anticipation up. Your videos always really calm me, so thank you. When did you walk this one?
Hi Efren. New subscriber here and loving the Camino Norte videos so far, 4 episodes in abs hoping to do it this year in August/September. Do you have any advice about campsites/campgrounds along the way as I would love to do a mixture of campsites/hostels/alberques etc. Maybe half camping and the rest in Hostels/alberques. Do you think that would be possible? Thanks!
Thank you. I'm glad you are enjoying the vlogs. I saw one Pilgrim stealth camping his way on del norte. I don't remember seeing many official campgrounds but it's possible to stealth camp especially on the beaches.
Hi Efrén! Amazing everything!! like always! Thank you! 😀All the Caminos you’ve done so far, which one did you enjoy the most? Also which one of the Caminos you liked best of the weather or month? I know they are all beautiful and amazing Caminos!
thank you my friend. You know every camino has its charm. I really like walking in April in Spain. it's the perfect weather for me but would also like to do a camino in the fall.
I totally agree with you! Each one of the Caminos has its charm in every aspect! at the end it’s all worth it. Those are the best months to walk or hike long distance! I think the hot weather sometimes makes you feel with less energy! Thank you again!
I can't think of a better way to survive the shelter in place than to have your Camino vlog to help get us through it. So thanks for the great timing in releasing this. What a difference a year makes, right? Absolutely enjoying the 4k res on this, and the Insta 360 pano shots. It really shows the rich vibrant colors of the sea and seaside villages. It's like your Portuguese Camino on steroids. Already you can see how much more physically demanding this Camino is in comparison to the Frances, and obviously the Portuguese. On that point, how difficult is it to carry and record with the Insta360 extended while ascending the hills? Is it not practical in those cases? Also, with regard to 4k, is it unreasonable for Camino pilgrims to expect to be able to do daily updates live on the Camino given the huge data file uploads necessary and lack of sufficient wifi speeds? Is it more realistic to expect that vlogs will have to be uploaded back home (wherever that is) after Caminos are finished? Looking forward to the rest of the series! Cheers and thanks for sharing with us, Efren!
thank you Joe. yes del norte is way more demanding than the Frances but it is worth it. the insta360 had just came out when I did this trip and I like the new POV it would provide to my vlogs. as for editing on the camino is not something I would recommend. it will take you away from pilgrim interactions on the albergues. as you can see I'm posting the vlogs one year after my pilgrimage. the Camino looks the same today as it did a year ago.
Basque is very beautiful and the food you ate looked very nice! Last autumn I passed through Basque on my way home from El Camino Frances and it was such a dramatic landscape from A Coruna all the way to the French border. Looking forward to see the rest of your episodes. Was there any alternative route where you walked on that narrow way of stone? I don't think I would feel comfortable to pass there.
one of the best caminos by far. the landscape is breathtaking all the way. yes, I crossed the small bridge but you can see the path on screen right when i get to the otherside.
Efrén González Hi Efren - my wife & I (70+ oldies who have only done the last 175 miles of the Camino Santiago) have been following your adventures for a long time. We admire your spirit and appreciate the professional quality of your videos. We do have one question - Can you give us an idea of the dates you walked each of your caminos? That information would really give the viewers some context as to when the videos were taken. Thanks for all of your work- We’re walking with you from our couch!
Since my Camino Frances in 2 weeks is obviously cancelled I am thinking about perhaps walking the Norte next spring if possible. I'm wondering if the Norte may not be as crowded during the holy year? I also read that this one is closer to nature, which is what I will need. I am looking forward to following your journey. Thank you for posting.
Hello Efren ItŚ years back your journey - but I Will ask anyhow: What time did you start ? And how is accommodation in september in albergues (only for pilgrims and to a fair Price kind of)? Anyhow I allways admire your Way of making videos, youcreate a special, positive atmosphere, but in a realistic true Way. All the Best
Hi Efren. Great video, usual high standard. great footage. What time of year was this? You have helped me relive a few caminos i have walked thank you. So many great memories.
These videos are helping me to keep my sanity these days. Thank you so much! After seeing this series I have added the Norte to my list. What do you think the easiest way to get to Irún would be? I am coming from Phoenix so thru Madrid or Paris? Then what? Gracias de antemano.
thank you, I took a train from Santiago to Irún right after I finished the Portuguese route. I suggest you check out the app Rome2rio it's an amazing tool.
I plan on walking the Camino del Norte. If I only had 12-14 days which section/region do you recommend in your opinion would be the best. I’m leaning toward Cantabria and Asturia.
No one captures the essence of the Camino better
Efren, you are not just an Explorer, Pilgrim, Entertainer... You are an Artist!! WOW... Those Drone shots were amazing.
thank you Jeo, I only wish I could do this for a living. I'll get there one day.

The film shots on this stage are absolutely spectacular, you are the man for the job for sure.
Long distance walking is impossible this year, but at least we have the footage of the past years. Thank you Efren.
Efren. The Man, The Myth, The Legend. Top Class video 👌
Brings back such great memories.......
Some of the best content on the Camino available. Great explanations of the weather and other logistics.
Simply marvellous - Great choice of music too
You make a great Job Efren. I love your Videos and the Camino del Norte

Sounds great. Buen camino.
I just finished the Camino Frances this year. My camily and I have agreed to do the Del Norte in the summer of 2028. I may have to do the Portuguese route before then because man I miss it.
You should walk the first ten days of the via podiensis in France.
I walked it in April. For specific dates, you can check out the video description
@@Walk_with_Efren that was quick! Thank you 😊
Thanks Efren, another great video. Which month was this please ?
Thank you. This was in April 2019. The specific dates are on the vlog's description.
@@Walk_with_Efren Thanks Efren, I've just become full member - Is it possible to access your route for the first week please ? which format could you provide please. best regards Shaun
Welcome to the program. If you are referring to GPS tracks, the link is on the video's description
@@Walk_with_Efren thanks Efren - what is best software to view .gpx please ?
There are many, but I prefer Google Earth Pro. You do need a data plan for it. You need to cover the .gpx to .kml using www.gpx2kml.com
Does your drone have a "follow" feature? Seems like you have a few shots that are right above and behind you as if someone was following you.
yes it does but that's the insta360 one X camera on a stick. sometimes you can see the shadows on the ground.
Great footage. Looks amazing, on my to do list. Take care and looking forward to seeing more from you in the non too distant future hopefully.
San Sebatian is among the most beautiful cities in the world.
I want to walk the silver- camino starting from the almost 2200 year old city of Seville, tracking the Roman mining roads.
@@Walk_with_Efren thankyou! 👍
Hello Efren
ItŚ years back your journey - but I Will ask anyhow: What time did you start ? And how is accommodation in september in albergues (only for pilgrims and to a fair Price kind of)? Anyhow I allways admire your Way of making videos, youcreate a special, positive atmosphere, but in a realistic true Way. All the Best
You can find all that information on the vlog's description
Meu nome Murilo do oporto fiz o caminho do norte muito bonito bom caminho
Hi Efren. Great video, usual high standard. great footage. What time of year was this? You have helped me relive a few caminos i have walked thank you. So many great memories.
thank you David. This was around this time last year. Or specific date check out the video's description.
What is the camera sling you use
These videos are helping me to keep my sanity these days. Thank you so much! After seeing this series I have added the Norte to my list. What do you think the easiest way to get to Irún would be? I am coming from Phoenix so thru Madrid or Paris? Then what? Gracias de antemano.
thank you, I took a train from Santiago to Irún right after I finished the Portuguese route. I suggest you check out the app Rome2rio it's an amazing tool.
I'm so looking forward to following your Camino. What date exactly did you start?
the dates are the video's description. but this was on March 27 2019. pretty much a year to the date.
I plan on walking the Camino del Norte. If I only had 12-14 days which section/region do you recommend in your opinion would be the best. I’m leaning toward Cantabria and Asturia.
Irun to Santander is the most beautiful section, but up to bilbao, it is also the most difficult.
"Born to roam" - and must be doing something right ~ you look so damn fit & healthy!
thank you Jon. I just stay active all the time.
Gracias!!! En qué mes del año lo caminaste?
Abril. Las fechas están en la descripción de los videos
