    If you use a potato peeler to remove the vanes and glue it makes it very fast and easy with no damage to the arrows. Use electrical tape and wrap the end of the arrow and knock will protect the end of the arrow

    I use AAE primer and glue withTac vanes... No issues. Because the Tac vanes are stiffer, it helps to leave them in the jig a little longer.

  • @YoureSoVane
    @YoureSoVane 2 года назад +7

    You can save yourself money. Just scrub the bottom of the vane with acetone or MEK, let it dry, and let it sit in the jig for longer than normal. Instead of setting in about 20 seconds, let it sit for a bit over a minute. Works on both AAE Max and TAC vanes. Did it last night.

      Absolutely! In spite of any and all directions I always scrub the bases with acetone on a tac free towel. Also clean shafts with acetone until any and all residue is gone. Use Bob Smith Glue and Accelerator (Amazon or Lancaster)! Fill vane channel and just before attaching clamp to jig spray accelerator onto shaft - 20 seconds and your onto the next one! Just make sure clamp is in alignment and ready to pressure onto shaft because it’s pretty much instant adhesion!
      Never fails for me no matter the brand!
      Just a ⚠️ when done properly it’s a mammy to scrape them off!

      @@HANGNHUNTOUTDOORS The key word here is "scrub" because just a light swab with acetone won't remove the release agent from the vanes.
      Activator, or accelerant, also works. So does letting a very thin layer of glue dry on the base before applying the rest and fusing to the shaft. Either way, it's all prep work. Not a big deal how you prep it, so long as you do it thoroughly.

    VaneTec. Been using them ever since I started doing my own fletching 6 or 7 years ago. I use a bitzenburger and gorilla glue. I’ve definitely put them through their paces. Through targets, animals, off the ground etc., and they’ve been amazing. Their price to performance I think beats any of the ones you’re looking at. Not to say these aren’t good options too. We’re truly spoiled as archers with all our options.

      I hated the heat vanes. They didn't take a helical well, and it ended up looking like an offset. For the weight, I didn't get as much steering as I wanted. Sure they stuck on like crazy and wouldn't come off, but if you got them stuck in a target hallway they would keep a permanent fold.

    My experience with different vanes, fletching with 4 degree offset and helical you will get the fastest rotation with original Blazer vanes. Yes you will loose speed and they will be noisier. But they are going fly broaheads better and correct your arrow sooner. But feathers are still my favorite for flying fixed broaheads.

    do you think the stiffness of a vane just has to do with the thickness of the plastic? as in thicker is stiffer and thinner if more flexable?

    Those are the three vanes I’m deciding which to use next year. I’ve used the heat vanes in a four fletch was wondering how the 3 fletch handled a broadhead? Was thinking I’d use the AZ ez fletch if I did a 3 fletch with the heats. I want to try the tac drivers but I haven’t heard good things about adhesion and durabilityand nervous to spend $30 then an additional $20 for the primer pen and glue.

      @HANGNHUNTOUTDOORS  2 года назад +2

      Hey thanks for the question! The Heat vanes in a 3 fletch work pretty well steering fixed blades with thinner profiles out to 40 yards. I have heard of people having issues with the Tac Vanes and I haven’t built my arrows yet so I cant tell you how they perform. However Ive heard the same about the AAE Max stealth vanes and if done properly they can give you a hard time taking them off to refletch. But I will follow up once I build the arrows!
