Dog Catcher joke was top drawer. Only on DS do you get this level of comedic relief. I needed it with that intense music! Drink is fantastic. Thanks for the vid.
Nice one! and Yay more Tiki stuff love the Mug mate iam going to make my firends and myself a mai tai,...amd enjoy the weekend...cheers mate thanks for all the awsome recipes :)
Badass drink. Sipping this right now on my patio. Perfect for July. Wasn't sure about pineapple juice and coffee liquor but it works. Thanks for the recipe! Added to my arsenal
Yeah, true. I like that it's simple (by Tiki standards). Like I mentioned in the Description, it's very similar to a Jungle Bird, only with a split base, Lemon for Lime and Coffee Liqueur for Campari. So you should be able to make both without too much trouble. Cheers!
your videos are all amazing. very well-backed with theory and history, great video/audio quality, and cool presentation of cocktails!! thank you so much! i have many of these recipes in my back pocket now
I finally tried this one and I have to admit that I really enjoyed it...2 times. I didn't have coffee liqueur so I made a quick coffee syrup with a hint of cinnamon, added in a little extra demerara rum to it and off we went. The coffee flavor goes well with the pineapple and since there is coffee in it I justified it to my wife that you could drink it before noon like a mimosa or bloody mary...or Corpse Reviver...or Ti Punch "Decollage".She laughed (because it is Father's Day) and said I was a psychopath.
I used Kahlua Especial (75 proof version). If you do use Kahlua - I recommend dropping that coffee liqueur to 0.5 oz. I used black seal and a 3 year light for the other components.
Great stuff! I was just about to make a ''To Hell with Spain'' but then after seeing this pop up I just had to make it instead. While you said to use a Dark Jamaican Rum, you used Denizen's blend of Jamaican and Martinique, any specific reason behind this or is it just what you had on hand? Also, got any recomendations for Dark Jamaican rums? I've been looking for Hamilton Jamaica Black but can't find it anywhere. Denizen is getting hard to come by now too and I'm starting to look around for a substitute for the Tiki drinks.
Haha. Don't let me stop you from making a To Hell with Spain. That's a good one. Glad you liked this one too. In terms of the rum, the Denizen is a big blend of a lot of stuff, but it's mostly Jamaican. However, if I used Hamilton Black or Smith & Cross, the other Jamaicans I have, I felt like they would've blown the light rum out of the water. It's fine, I could've made it that way and ended up with a really good Mr. Bali Hai. This combo just felt a little more balanced. The Merchant's Reserve is a still big and funky, but just not as loud as Hamilton Black. I love Hamilton, it's just really dominating. In terms of good Jamaican rums, I'm not sure. I like the Hamilton (Black and Gold), the Denizen (not quite the same thing) and the home-aged Wray & Nephew (diluted down). I remember liking Appleton rums, years ago. So, you can try giving one of those a whirl if you can't find/make the other ones. Hope that helps. Cheers!

I enjoyed the video. Well done. As usual. I've enjoyed the drink previously, and do love that coffee + pineapple combo. Lastly, got link to fancy straws?
Just for fun, I'm making a small batch of coffee liqueur. I wanted to make this but didn't want to use any of my "good" rum. So I ran out and got some coruba dark, which I've never had. And Don Q Cristal. If anything they can go in my Halloween Zombies. But do you think the Coruba will work here? It smells better than I thought it would for the price but as I've not yet tasted it I'm not sure of it's hogo.
Here are some in no particular order: Plantation 3 Star, Banks 5 Island, Caña Brava 3 Year, Barbancourt White Rhum, Old New Orleans Crystal, El Dorado 3 Year.
I just tried this yesterday and it is probably the best tiki drink I've tried. I am not normally happy with too sweet drinks but the coffee made it bitter enough for my liking. Do you ever use strawberries in your drinks? I feel like something like a strawberry puree (syrup) would be really nice to add to drinks like the one
Great! Glad you liked it so much. I've not really used strawberries in drinks. Typically, I tend to shy away from sweet or puree type drinks. Did you have a recipe in mind?
I get that as I don't really like drinks too sweet myself. However, I tried making a strawberry syrup/puree inspired by your ginger syrup (pretty much the same recipe but with blended strawberries instead of ginger juice). I used it as a sweetener in a daiquiri and it actually worked out really well. You could actually taste the rom and lime compared to your standard watered down strawberry daiquiri. I was just thinking that it would be really nice to see what you could do with something like that.
No plans at the moment, but if you check out the blog I mentioned in the video, A Mountain of Crushed Ice, they have some good ones. Perhaps that can hold you over in the meantime.
Crazy,..for me is that,..when u add malibu or so,..the bahama mama To everyone out there, try this recipe: 4cl myers rum,2cl kahlua,2 cl malibu or mahiki,1 cl overproof rum,8cl pineapple juice and 4 cl lemon juice,..AND ON THE TOP SOME DASHES PIMENTO DRAM,..prefer self made,..then u have really flavored spicy tiki drink,..thaats awesome tasty
When I saw this comment I was thinking "What do you mean you don't have no Tiki mug?" (said in the same accent as Aunt Voula in My Big Fat Greek Wedding).
Really, it would have to be a qualified statement. There are so many bogus "juices" out there, but a 100% cold press pineapple juice, not from concentrate and no sugar added, would work in a pinch, if you had a cocktail party emergency and couldn't juice a pineapple yourself.
But of course I mean no added sugar.. Thanks! Juicing a pineapple is just a bridge too far for me, although I do sometimes add a little of the pulp if I've cored one out to create a vessel.
Doh! Yeah, it sold out shortly after the video came out. Unfortunately the limited number of mugs is not uncommon in the Tiki world. But the drink will still taste great without it.

This channel should have way more traction. You do a great job.
Love the mugs!
I have to have one of those Tiki mugs, that is one of the coolest ones I have ever seen.
You have one? Oh nice! It is incredible. Cheers!
Bali Hai is a great place at shelter Island San Diego. We had my Daughters wedding there. Excellent time! You can’t miss the Goof!
Yeah! Fun place. Great decor. Beautiful view. And the drinks are suuuuper cheap.
Just made it, so unique. I used NOLA coffee liqueur and cinnamon syrup and the result...3 drinks later was awesome.
Great job! I agree that pineapple and coffee aren't an obvious combo, but they work so well together!
Right?!
Sipping this right now in my newest tiki mug. Got myself a real nice collection in the last couple of years. Cheers
Love this drink! Cheers!
As always, great entertainment, informative and spot on in taste. Just made my first Mr. Bali Hai and I must admit, it's a tasty one.
Yeah, this is a really surprising one. It seems like it shouldn't work. Glad you liked the video. Cheers!
ANOTHER AMAZING HIT! Bravo good sir. The Mighty Woo would put down his orange crush for this belly buster!
Cheers! Thanks for the love.
Just picked up Nola Coffee Liqueur on End of Bin sale at Binnys.....
Immediately made a Mr.Bali Hai after cutting the lawn today.
Awesome! Love that stuff.
Try it in Oaxaca Forever (ruclips.net/video/EtG4pdk24o0/видео.html). Cheers!
Seriously OMFG 😮👍🏼🥃💪🏼 Awesome thank you so much for this drink recipe. 😊
Haha. For sure! Glad you liked it!
Great video
Nice one! and Yay more Tiki stuff love the Mug mate
iam going to make my firends and myself a mai tai,...amd enjoy the weekend...cheers mate thanks for all the awsome recipes :)
Glad you dug the video. Yeah, the mug is killer. Enjoy your Mai Tais. Prost!
Badass drink. Sipping this right now on my patio. Perfect for July.
Wasn't sure about pineapple juice and coffee liquor but it works. Thanks for the recipe! Added to my arsenal
Yeah, it's not a combo you think would work, but it really does. Glad you liked it. Cheers!
Love this build. kind of a stripped down version of the Black Magic which while delicious, is a bear to execute outside of a tiki bar. Thanks
Yeah, true. I like that it's simple (by Tiki standards). Like I mentioned in the Description, it's very similar to a Jungle Bird, only with a split base, Lemon for Lime and Coffee Liqueur for Campari. So you should be able to make both without too much trouble. Cheers!
Just made it. Finally a good excuse to use my coffee liqueur! Delicious! Cheers!
Nice! Glad you liked it. Cheers!
This drink is amazing thank you for this!
For sure! It's one that doesn't make a whole lot of sense on paper, but is surprisingly tasty!
Love the mug, man. Kind of freaky how it looks at you while you drink. Pairs well with the music too.
And the drink is fantastic. Cheers.
Yeah, I love that mug. Glad you liked the drink. Cheers!
It's getting harder and harder to not spend all my money on tiki mugs
You can't take it with you.
...but then again, you can't take the mugs either.
I just tried it and it was fabulous ! I highly recommend it :)
Great! Glad you dig it. Wasn't it surprisingly good? I wasn't sure about coffee and pineapple at first.
Absolutery ! I wasn't sure either but when it comes to Tiki drink, I'm always glad to experiment new mixes !
your videos are all amazing. very well-backed with theory and history, great video/audio quality, and cool presentation of cocktails!! thank you so much! i have many of these recipes in my back pocket now
Thank you. Glad you liked them so much. This one is a great hidden gem. Cheers!
Currently on my third :) thanks for the introduction. I ended up just using 2.5oz of aged rum and honey instead of simple syrup... turned out great.
A little different, but I'm sure it's pretty similar. Glad you liked it. Cheers!
Excellent!

Well, was she wrong? Haha. Glad you guys enjoyed it so much. Cheers!

Good call. Kahlua's a little sweeter so that's probably the way to go, balance-wise.

what if you dont have a tiki mug?.....would a collins work?
Collins could work. Beachbum Berry recommends a Double Old Fashioned glass, which is what I recommended at 2:33. Cheers!
wow I missed that lol....anyway thanks for all you do...I have several "back pocket "cocktails because of you.
Great to hear. Cheers!
When I saw this comment I was thinking "What do you mean you don't have no Tiki mug?" (said in the same accent as Aunt Voula in My Big Fat Greek Wedding).
I have coffee liquor and white rum right now lol
Perfect. Almost there!
Distinguished Spirits also you have a badass voice lmao
Thanks! You're making me blush.
Distinguished Spirits lmao imagining you say that in your voice lol
To be fair you should probably state that pineapple juice from a carton works just fine
Really, it would have to be a qualified statement. There are so many bogus "juices" out there, but a 100% cold press pineapple juice, not from concentrate and no sugar added, would work in a pinch, if you had a cocktail party emergency and couldn't juice a pineapple yourself.
