GBO2 Mass Production Type Z Gundam: Better than the original Zeta!

- This video contains two matches I had with the recently released LV1 Mass Production Zeta Gundam on Gundam Battle Operation 2. It is a 550 cost general with excellent mobility, great midrange DPS, long melee reach, decent melee damage alongside a powerful skill that gives it +20 boosting speed, Maneuver Armor and the ability to fire its beam rifle while boosting. It is pretty well rounded, but has some weaknesses. It needs to stop to fire to break through Maneuver Armor, and the spear downswing can partially miss if you don't use it at the ideal range. This suit feels kind of OP, but it is really everything that I wanted in a single suit. To some degree, it feels like a combination of the Sinanju, the Freedom Gundam and the Zeta Plus A1. Its primary weapon is a beam rifle with 2300 power, 5 ammo, 5 seconds cooldown, 13 seconds reload, 0.77 seconds swap time, 400m range and 40% stagger value. This has pretty great performance, offering short cooldown, long range and high damage.
Its primary melee weapon is a beam saber with 2100 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.5 seconds swap time and 60% combo modifier. On its own, this can only deal mediocre damage, but you can do pretty good melee damage overall if you use this in combination with your spear.
Its first sub weapon is a waist beam gun with 600x2 power, 34% heat, 13 seconds overheat, 0.5 seconds swap time, 350m range and 35%x2 stagger value. This weapon works basically exactly the same as the one on the Zeta A1, they must stop to fire but they have incredible stagger value and damage output. This is your best follow-up after a downswing.
Its second sub weapon is a long beam saber with 2400 power, 3.5 seconds cooldown, 0.77 seconds swap time and 95%x2 downswing modifier. This has great reach alongside a fast downswing to use it with. The reach means that you can start combos on suits from much further away than the typical melee general can. Unlike the original Zeta though, the rifle barrel is much longer, and it doesn't have a hitbox. This makes it difficult to hit both parts of the animation.
Its third sub weapon is a gerobi style beam rifle mode with 900x5 power, 100% heat, 20 seconds overheat, 0.77 seconds swap time, 450m range, 5 seconds focus time and 35%x5 stagger value. This can focus on the move but must stop to fire. It shoots an instant stagger piercing beam that can deal incredible damage.
The LV1 MP Zeta Gundam has 20000 HP, 17 ballistic resist, 27 beam resist and 16 melee resist. It has better durability than the Zeta Gundam while costing 50 points less. Even compared to other 550 costers, it has a lot of HP despite its size. It has LV2 Emergency Evasion, but no Maneuver Armor unless it is using the DV Stabilizer skill.
In terms of mobility it has 130 walk speed, 210 boost speed, 75 thrust and 78 turning speed. Even before you consider anything else, this is really nice mobility for 550 cost, especially once you consider that it has LV2 Forced Injector and LV3 Flight Control. It is made even better once you look at LV1 DV Stabilizer Control. This skill activates when boosting forward, after 0.5 seconds you gain 5 boosting speed, after 1 second you gain 10 boosting speed, but after 1.5 seconds you gain not only 20 boosting speed, but also Maneuver Armor and the ability to fire your beam rifle while boosting. This is extremely powerful, even though it takes 1.5 seconds to fully activate, you can approach enemies with a stun ready while boosting with 230 HSM.
It also has LV1 Pursuit Aux Ranged Program and LV1 Thrust-Based Fire Cooling System. The first one boosts ranged damage dealt to knocked over enemies by 15%. The second one reduces regular beam heat recovery time by 20%, and cuts overheat times in half, but only while boosting.
In conclusion, I feel that the Zeta Gundam Mass Production Type will become a meta mainstay for 550 cost. It is really juiced in multiple areas, it has an answer for just about any suit at cost. It can easily play at a midrange shooter, as a frontline full aggro melee suit, or as a combination of the two. You will always have a weapon ready if you are managing your overheat times with the thrust based cooling skill, and it is really easy to gain the upper hand on enemies without Maneuver Armor thanks to you being able to conditionally fire your beam rifle while boosting. The only thing you really have to watch out for is the spear hitbox, it is about as long (maybe even longer) than the one on the OG Zeta Gundam, but again, the second part of the downswing can miss at close range thanks to the rifle barrel itself not having a hitbox. This suit can definitely rival the Perfect Gundam and Geara Doga Psycommu Test Type, so I can definitely recommend that you roll for it. Thanks for watching!

Crazy how the mass production variants of the Zeta and ZZ are better than the OG.
not really its actually normal as the mass production units are technically a later model meaning that they most likely have a lot of improvements over the og this is the case irl with military aircraft where the prototypes are improved upon usually in a few iterations before full scale production with the full mass production models always having better performance it is also similar with ships although production numbers are far lower

@@paktahn That's not really how it goes in the Gundam universe. The prototype always have the bleeding edge and get everything and the kitchen sink chucked on. The mass production units can't be equal to or better cause that is considered "too costly" to make in large numbers so they cut down on stuff for the Mass produced units. I mean look at the RX-79 -> GM, the GM is the mass produced RX-79 (its just not called "MP Gundam" but reading up on the GM you will read it's the mass produced RX-79) but it's armor, mobility and weaponry are all severely lacking compared to the RX-79, along with stripping other features like the core-block system. Only the beam saber and Vulcans are similar, and then it's a toss up whether or not the beam saber on the RX-79 has higher output or not.
@@NL0Gwenster i get what you are saying and agree to an extent because the same happens irl in weapons development but the fact is that all prototypes cost more than production units because they have to have all the tooling made from the ground up and are hand built and many times reworked multiple times over a coarse of time that technological development continues meaning that by the time a unit is finalized a new cheaper more powerful weapon or power plant my have been created allowing for the mass production model to incorporate it and in the end it all depends on what the military wants in the case of the gm they probably thought that the cost and time to produce the rx79 was too high and would be better to compromise for speed and cost for numbers rather than performance since they had no mobile suit army and needed one fast i look at the gm like a stop gap that was badly needed to stem the tide where numbers mattered over performance because at the time the federation was on the back foot and could have lost the war if things had continued
@@NL0GwensterI mean the gm spec wise had almost similar performances with the gundam, And it could use pretty much any weapon the gundam could. It’s been seen with the same beam rifle before and there’s nothing stopping the gm from using a hyper hammer or let’s say the super napalm.

Glad it favor range damage over melee because it tough enough not getting hit by friendly.
Plus it would be a great fit for the three trios: Mass production ZZ Gundam, mass production Hyaku Shiki Kai, and finally mass production Z Gundam. Would be awesome for three players to use one of those three and wreak havoc on the battlefield. Wouldn’t you agree? 😆👍.
That hip beam shots got some chonky af damage man, 1 DS and that's 50-75% hp gone if you got a full shot combo
Awesome video as always. It is a good suit but I felt that they gave too much in to one suit.
What's the top left custom part?
Burn Efficiency Aux. Device, from the Penelope 5 star step up banner. It reduces thrust usage by 10%. I was using it to go for a max thrusters build, since this suit has multiple skills that benefit a lot from having more thrusters.

What a weird visor head lol
It totally reminds me of the head from the FX-9900 GX-Bits featured in After War Gundam X. Instead of Funnels like say the Nu Gundam, the Gundam X literally had entire mobile suits as it's funnels, called the GX-Bits for short. They had the same arnament as the Gundam X Itself including the fearsome satellite cannon.
That beam rifle is so funky looking with whatever is on the right side (a second hand grip?)

At this point why run a support at 550 at all
I would say that now more than ever, running a support is a good idea. MP Zeta can keep raids like Psycommu Geara Doga in check, which gives you space to work as a support.
IMO the best counter to MP Zeta would be a strong support. Jeda Cannon is a really good choice for dealing with it.

The power creep is real with how the MP versions can be better than the originals. The MP ZZ i personally find better than the regular ZZ. And looks like this guy is better than the regular Zeta.

What do you think the OG Zeta needs in terms of buffs in order to be a viable pick?
Maneuver Armor and vulcans on par with Zeta 3A would probably be enough for it to be viable. I wouldn't mind leg buffer or high speed ram though.

The problem was having like emoting combos that PG did which made ppl angry even after multiple nerfs.
