    Your videos are a delight. The spreadsheet and plan are essential. Can't wait to see how this progresses this year.

    I love your videos! Once, they bloom, could you consider making a video of snapshots of each of flowers of your favorites and provide the variety name? I would love to see that!

    Nice video and good work you two,I bought new tubers this year planted up in pots in my poly tunnel went out this morning only to see a few of my plants with their new leaves riddled with holes,some bugger of an insect.Any ideas what can I do now thanks

    • @Dahliaholic
      @Dahliaholic  2 года назад

      If the holes are large it will be slugs, if they are very small it’s probably thrips

      It depends where you live. In the U.K. I would recommend SB Plant Invigorator, but I’m not sure where is it’s available.

    What temp and how long do you keep these young Dahlias in the greenhouse prior, to getting them outdoors?
    Thanks for posting, sir. 🍀👨🏽‍🔬👨🏽‍🌾

    • @Dahliaholic

      There is no artificial heat in the greenhouse, so the temperature varies a lot. They were taken out of storage in late March and started into growth. See our video ‘Spring 2022 in Geoff & Heather’s dahlia garden’.

    Lovely to see your annuleer progress and I learned a lot of your video’s of last year. I bought this year from Peter Hasslhoffer 10 dahlia’s. 4 of them haven’t come out yet. 🫰🏼
    I’m looking forward to see how the seedlings will develop. See you at the next video. Greets a Dutch dahlia lover.

    What is a Double Stop that makes them bushier? (I enjoyed watching your videos during the pandemic winters!)

    • @Dahliaholic
      @Dahliaholic  2 года назад +1

      Hi Tara. Having taken out the growing tip after three or four pairs of leaves I let the laterals carry on growing until they produce flower buds. I then remove the buds. This makes the plant bushier and helps the remaining flowers stay stronger for longer.

    Double stop mean pinch growing tip and then pinch new shoots as well? If so, how many leaf pairs up do you pinch the pinch???

    • @Dahliaholic
      @Dahliaholic  2 года назад +1

      I wait until each shoot gets a second pair of leaves then pinch out.

    😍😍 Do you water them while in the green house? If not, when should you start watering them? I'm planning on growing them for the first time this year but I don't have a green house - im thinking of using my father in-laws one so I would like to know often to visit/check on them for watering. Thank you😊

    • @Dahliaholic
      @Dahliaholic  Год назад +1

      Hi yes, I do water them when I take them out of storage, but be careful not to drown them or they might rot. See my videos from March and April

    I am growing a lot this year thanks to your helpful videos. I have Pinelands Pam from a tuber but it has quite spindly and weak growth so far compared to the other varieties. I have put it out in a container. Any advice?

    • @Dahliaholic
      @Dahliaholic  2 года назад +1

      My own Pinelands Pam got eaten by a slug, so I’m growing it in a 4 inch pot and going to keep it in there so it produces a tuber for next year.

      @@Dahliaholic It has picked up quite a bit and I was able to remove a cutting. All my other dahlias are doing good. Hope you are both well and soon posting more vids.

    Dahlia shoots started to come up in my yard probably only 4-5 inches and the deer nipped them totally off. Do you think there is any chance the Dahlias will push up more sprouts within a couple weeks or is this the end of the Dahlias for the year? Ughhh last year the deer did not eat the Dahlias at all.

    • @Dahliaholic
      @Dahliaholic  2 года назад

      Hi Emma Louie. I would expect new shoots to appear, but you’ll have to wait until late in the season to get flowers…..good luck!

    How far apart are your spacings side to side and fore to aft? 18 inches?

    • @Dahliaholic
      @Dahliaholic  Год назад +1

      The shorter ones at the front of beds are about 18 inches, the taller ones at the back about 24 inches apart. Every two rows I have a 3 ft path
