Did it! First watched vid with opened door.. scanned comments for closed door and viola. While unlocking only took me 2mins, fitting the new damn lock took me +1hr. Got there in the end. Thanks Bill👍
This is going to be the SECOND time ive had to come back to this video due to broken locks on Rental and they wont fix. Ive done one door two years ago. Bout to do the laundry thank Mate for this CHAMPION video
I was in a similar situation but with key snapped in lock and locked! You are a good man to take the time to show what to do, followed your method, perfect and new £7 euro-lock fitted, certainly saved a £50 locksmith call out charge! Huge thanks
Worked with the key snapped off in it for anyone curious. Thank you very much for the video, I really couldn't believe it was that easy to replace saved me heaps of $$$
Had a broken cylinder in the backyard door. The key wouldn't fit anymore and the lock won't budge. Was looking at 100 eur for the locksmith. This video saved me :)
I snapped the key off in the lock, the door was locked and I couldn't get the key out. Your method worked a treat. Thank you for putting this up. New euro cylinder from Bunnings for $23 and it's working perfectly. 👍
Brilliant video Bill. I had the key but the cam didn’t want to move, done research for 5 videos but neither of them can give me a hint but yours! You might think to add more keywords into this video title so any DIY can find yours first to save time and even sweat! Thanks again Bill.
Great video. Was very useful when I was replacing the lock mechanism on a flyscreen door and there was not enough room to try and release the lock with a knife blade. It certainly saved me a call to the locksmith...
This video helped me replace the lock in a used door that I purchased. In Australia, thin doors typically use the 46mm euro lock while thicker doors use the longer 63mm lock. The job of breaking the lock is easier if you use 2 pairs of multigrip pliers with an assistant on the other side of the door bending the lock at the same time and in the same direction. The screw hole being the weak point in the lock is where you apply force. Multigrips with wide jaws (10mm) are best suited to this task.
Thanks, Bill. This vid just showed me how to replace my many-years locked sliding screen door and it worked exactly as you demonstrated. You're a legend. :)
Thanks for this. I could only squeeze fishing line in the gap but the cam wouldn't go up all the way so used a pair of vice grips on each side and it snapped easily. You saved me from calling a locksmith and the nearest is 100k's away. Huge thanks.
bro you are a life saver, due to the extreme weather my screendoor lock got rusty and won't open, following your video i just easily got it out. on the way to bunnings for a new lock now 👍
Thanks heaps mate, was so annoying with the locked door of the new place when my vendor didnt give the key. To those who are having a go at Bill, please think it on the positive side...i am a noob knowing nothing about this and thanks to Bill and you guy, i now know that i should need an anti snap lock. Burglars dont need to see this video to be a burglar, right:)
Hey man thanks for this! Moved in a old apartment that had this. Couldnt access the balcony as it was locked, and bc of this headaches are gone! Thank you so much man
Fantastic video and helped greatly. I would just like to add that I just could not get the little tag to turn round to open. So i used recip saw hacksaw to cut out the screw, which holds the eurolock in, which then fell out leaving the slot clear to just slide a new lock in, get it in position then open. This may help someone struggling like me! But the video was just fab thanks.
brilliant, just the info I needed as the key had snapped in the lock and after removal of the locking screw it still would not budge.Snapping with two pipe grips did the job and saved me a lot of money. Thanks
Always use anti snap cylinders,it may make life difficult if you loose your keys but it also makes life difficult for the burglar who uses the same technique
@@lystic9392 there is one with harden bars. I still get through them though is harder. Anti snap have sacrificial snap point a point that you can no longer grip the lock.

You are an absolute diamond!! I’ve been trying to find ‘how to’ for a while! Now I need to find the strength to use some multigrips 😂 Cheers Bill. I’ve subbed as I’ve got heaps of other jobs I need to sort unfortunately!
Absolutely spot on video, thanks pal. I done this on my back pvc doors of a new house we just bought. I was stressing about it as it never locked properly. Now I can go and get a new set of locks. Thanks so much for the info, and you saved me a bunch of cash aswell. Keep it up Sir and all the best
Worked a treat, thanks....'good on ya mate! as i believe you Antipodeans say! :) Would like to add one point, to not order replacement until old one is removed as measurements regarding the placement of cam are different in a number of models. These dimensions are shown on sites, such as Amazon when ordering.
...then make sure to buy a proper lock, one that costs more than £4 and can't be snapped - or at least won't give a burglar such easy access to your home!
So you have lost the key to your 'anti-snap' euro lock. Please tell me, and the rest of the world, how you remove the lock other than drilling it out? My experience shows that burglars are more likely to use a crowbar that go to all the trouble of finding out if they can snap the lock.
This video was absolutely helpful. Thank you. I managed to take it out and install a new cylinder however, the lock lever(Silver one) seems to be free. Keeps moving everywhere and my lock is actually not locking. Do you have any insight?
Excellent video, I was in my neighbor's house in under 3 minutes whilst they were out!

🤣🤣🤣
Good thing you had the keys for another door to access the screw from the inside cover plate.

How did you do it when the door was on a balcony? I'm 3 floors up, so no access to both sides of the door.

Does anti snap mean it basically warps in a way that makes it very tough to get out?
