I'm personally not going to donate a single dollar, but it doesn't affect my life one way or another if other adults want to spend THEIR hard earned money towards this. We've become much too comfortable on trying to push our own individual beliefs on everybody else and expect everyone else to feel & think the way we do about ourselves & our own values/traditions.

Even when the Queen died i didn't care much for that procession either, but yes it is up to the family what they want to do however, if what is being said is true, then they should be funding this themselves. They have enough from the GFM money so why don't they use this? I have no problem with them doing that, and I did not donate either. It is a sad ending regardless of his so called past, a young man has lost his life and wouldn't wish this on anyone.
That's exactly it. They are trying to sensationalise it because they want it to be memorable and not for it to be quietly swept under the rug as the Spanish media etc know seem to wish. I think the family know more about what happened to Jay than they're saying.

Yes I completely agree. Loads of criticism which is still going on - he's been found by Spanish authorities which was the intention. All I see is why not found sooner, conspiracy theories, information being hidden by police, poor investigation blah blah blah. It's absolutely ridiculous and disgraceful. Being secular or non-secular (as commented by another viewer) has no bearing whatsoever on the search which was successful.

Continuing to profit from their sons death is despicable. Says loads about them. 460 people have been reported missing on the canary islands from 2020-2023. 11 on Tenerife this year. :-) to my knowledge none of the families have set up go fund me.

If his family had any respect or gratitude,they give their son a standard funeral, and give the remaining GFM surplus to the charity that has stood by them right through this ordeal….. it’s what respectful people would do….. and the donation would be to help others missing abroad, especially as Slaters family know what other people with missing relatives must be going through…

After all the uproar I thought they would have a small private funeral. Any money left over could be donated, in Jay's name, to the two guys missing in Sardinia and Majorca. It would be a fitting acknowledgement to the families who are receiving no coverage at all.

If Jay was on a package holiday repatriation will be covered by insurance my dad died earlier in the year at 89 his insurance covered his repatriation 🙈🙈🙈

I made a donation on the 3rd day but seeing how the family have behaved over the GFM I won’t be donating to any more causes! When people abuse the kindness of others it has a massive impact which becomes extremely detrimental for others desperately in need of financial help .. I would be ashamed of myself constantly asking for more money!

The Spanish tax payer paid for the search, not them and it seems they were very reluctant to part with the cash they received from the GFM to contribute to the search effort so where is it? Let them foot the bill themselves now.

If yes I take it they’ll pay out for repatriation and funeral, if he didn’t have insurance then why should the go fund me pay, if that’s the case then why should the rest of us pay travel insurance let’s save a few quid and if anything happens to us then we’ll just set up a go fund me

Loving the way you bring your thoughts across. The fundraiser is close to £70K if not just over it, by now. They get help from a charity and with any luck there was travel insurance. Many people go missing, many families stand in front of having to repatriate people who died, for whatever reason, abroad. They must have found out that a few more young men went missing, since. They didn't even use their moment of being in the eye of the public to raise awareness to that and support these mums and families in any way. Everybody reacts differently in such circumstances, but I know for myself I would raised awareness and I feel many other mothers and families would have done that, too.

In my opinion, they asked for money to help find him, they did use it for that purpose. They wanted to buy a house there, so they have the money for that, now they want more money to give him a send off. Creators were talking about him to help find him, not just to make money, at least I don't think so. They should be grateful that he was found and it put an end to a terrible situation. The public did not do this to him, so no, the public should not be held responsible for giving him a send off. She wants her hair and nails done again.

Hi Harsh looking very relaxed. Jay wasn't a saint and was somewhat reckless nevertheless he deserves a funeral but certainly not a spectacular send off. In my opinion the public have been extremely generous to this family who haven't been completely above board with the use of those funds. Sometimes the truth hurts but needs to be told. Nobody should make further contributions. Love from South Africa 💙💙

Is it possible he's still alive and they're paying off his debt with the money? The body they've recovered could be someone else placed there to close the case. Neither parent looks heartbroken, and if I lost a child the last thing I would think about was making money from their death. No one would spend, or should spend 60k on a funeral. Or was he funding his parents and now they need money for themselves? It's not normal to behave the way they are behaving
So the GFM is over 60K, the family is working with a charity that helps Brits families who loved one has died overseas get the body back to ole blighty and they also help with the costs of that which could up to 5K. Even before she asked for more money the GFM had much more than they required to get the body back home. I am sorry they are really milking this now and they have raised well beyond what was needed or is needed.

It's very sad indeed but it appears this case consists of 2 words, suspicious and money. Gofundme seems to play a massive part and for what no proper transparency on what the funding is being used for? Then all the MANY unanswered questions lack of real proof or evidence, so called shadey 'friends' around this guy.

A really good funeral costs around 5 to 10,000. Travel Insurance. . will cover most of that . If you live in their home town in Lancashire watch to see, suddenly they will be spending a lot of money . There’s no way they will be giving it back that’s for sure, it’s like you can’t hide when you win the lottery. The funeral should be a PRIVATE affair paid for by The FAMILY. Travel insurance will cover it anyway, Decent people would not ask for public money .

My son feels that he went and got involved in a drug situation... his theory is bang on tbh... I don't feel it's fair that we should pay for his funeral just because it's high-profile... he is no different to others who may not be able to afford a funeral
Its all about the money for Jays mother..not about the loss of her son.. The go fund me should have been given to the spanish police and searches..even now give whats left over.. I know that as a mother i would rather struggle and pay for the funeral no matter how big or small myself out of my money..thats what a real caring mother would do..its a natural motherly love you feel.
