The Erickson MD-83 drop was the most impressive drop I've ever seen! They were flying out of the USFS Jeffco Tanker Base in Broomfield and I believe they were also flying out of Grand Junction. I couldn't read the number on the tail but Erickson had several MD-83s involved. The MD-83s had to put the gear and flaps down because of the air flow. The retardant was sucked into the engines if the gear and flaps weren't down. I shot photos of the MD-83s flying out of the Jeffco Tanker Base showing retardant splashed up over the leading edge of the wing.
Utmost respect for the pilots who know their airplanes and how to fly them. Who knew commercial passenger aircraft could be flown like a groung hugging acrobatic fighter jet bomber. Hello Air force pilots? Umm ...we have a new mission for your enjoyment..um hello, hello?
Awesome vid! Thanks! gave me goosebumps! Nice to see Colorado signed an exclusive contract with a P3 tanker.
These are DC10 and P3, right?
Amen thanks so much you wonderful fire fighters
I’d like to see pilot footage of that down ridge pushover in that MD80
Definitely subscribing because of this video. Hope to see more like this in the future.
Why not flying an MD80, or what it was exactly, like a aerobatic plane or a fighter jet, if you can?
The DC9-80 made those dives gear down with a windshield full of mountain, no sky. Those were the most impressive retardant drops I have ever seen.
Thats the 747 super tanker and the other big planes are dc10s the dc10 don't get this low this is biggest tanker
@@Jokertuning Huh? Does the 747 have the engines back near the tail? I don't think so.

How did they even take off carrying the weight of the pilots balls?
These pilots and crew members are brave beyond!
Crew has nothing to do with it this is the biggest tanker he's only one who gets this low the dc10s don't get this low or the c130
These Pilots have balls of titanium
Sometimes it's hard to believe the plane can even fly with how heavy the pilots balls of steel are on board.
No not balls of steel but balls of titanium instead
Thought those things were meant to have a 100m drop height, not 100ft god damn
The pilot was safe. It was 2020 and he was wearing a mask😂
