I am watching it in two parts.
Till now, I find Janab Nazar Sahab ji is objective, well-read, experienced, and eloquent.
Thanks for providing an opportunity to hear Janab Nazar Sahab Ji.
Just a few weeks back, I got an opportunity to hear Janab Atif Mia Sahab Ji. Probably at the Black hole or at the PIDE.
Pakistan is fortunate to have such brilliant economic minds. Certainly, there would be many more.
I wonder why such bright minds are not in the driving seats of the development machinery of your country.
Just to me mention out of place, Janab Nazar Sahab Ji is one of the rare guests who is not obsessed with the "anti-India' 'anti- Hindu' mindset. That is so common in Pakistan.

Countries of East and SE Asia that progressed do not owe their progress to whether their govts were capitalist or communist (or monarchical as in Thailand). They all had strong access to US markets and they devoted their energies towards creating stuff they could sell there - toys, tvs, walkmans, cars, ... In the 50s Pakistan could have done the same. Aumreeka ke yaar the. Par nahin. Looteron ki mindset wale aisa kaise kar sakte the.
Ab phir chance hey. US aur West production Cheen sey nikaal rahe hein. Pakistan apne dost cheen se kahe "hamare yahaan factory lagaein. Hamare thru export kariye."
Par nahin. Jinka looteron ka DNA hey woh kaise factory mein kaam karenge.

    Allah teaches hate in quran
    Quran 9:73
O Prophet! Struggle against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be firm with them. Hell will be their home. What an evil destination!
    Quran 9:123-
O believers! Fight the disbelievers around you and let them find firmness in you. And know that Allah is with those mindful ˹of Him˺.
    Quran 47:35 --
So do not weaken and call for peace while you are superior; and Allah is with you and will never deprive you of [the reward of] your deeds.
    Sunan an-Nasa'i 3097
"Whoever dies without having fought or thought of fighting, he dies on one of the branches of hypocrisy."
    9:29-
Sahih International: Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture - [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled.

I disagree... Religion is a way of life, at least for those choosing to follow it. So for something to be right, the antagonist or the opposite of that has to be wrong. So from my perspective, preachings/teachings of another religion are wrong. That is not to say that I would not be respectful of someone else's traditions. I mean its your religion, your way of life, and if you see my religion as being wrong, that is ok as long as you are respectful/cordial towards me. Bus itna hi.

Wonderful podcast! Being a regular viewer of your channel, I can understand and respect Yousuf sahab's opinion as it counters Shehzad bhai's primary stance on supporting people-centric development through democratic means. However, we can still appreciate Yousuf sahab's point of view, as it provides a different angle to this very complex problem-advocating for structural reforms and educating the masses to create economic opportunities, with a long-term outlook. The whole debate centered around which path to take. One key takeaway and a reality check was when he said, 'Parso inkalaab aajae ga aur yeh establishment ka role khtm ho jae ga?'. Maybe one similarity we can take from both of you is that you both advocate for the prosperity of the masses of Pakistan through education and economic opportunities. Shehzad bhai proposes that this will only come after holding the exploitative elite class accountable for their extractive nature, while Yousuf sahab proposes that we work with this elite class, provide these basic things to the masses, grow the country, and then decide on the future course. I just loved it when the opposing argument is also a logical one, showing the very nuanced nature of the topic. GREAT GREAT WATCH! (BTW, apologies for the long and late comment.)

Imran Khan was trying to do the same internationally. Saari duniya ke thekedar bane hue hain aur tule hue hain ki poora world Pakistan ban jaye. Separation, unity or any other bs you talk about it is all a north India issue. Fact is that all North Indian states exist because of south India. 800 million Indians get South Indian sweat and blood in the form of PMOI Anaj Yojna. States like UP and Bihar takes most from the federation. North Indian Leeches calling out other North Indians (Pakistan) leeches is fun to read.

A very good and interesting discussion/debate. I like his very realistic approach and I agree with him on most points.
The only disagreement I have, is on the democracy vs dictatorship vs expert government, where I side with democracy. This is a principle stance. The reason for this is that Pakistan is a very complex federation, and, like it or not, it has a constitution which begs to be followed. Yusuf Sahib refers to history and other countries what they did right, but somehow on this topic he doesn't like to look at the history of other countries that succeeded by following the ground rules of their democratic constitution. Maybe it is his realistic approach again, but an "expert government" seems to me just as utopian as a perfect democratic government, or a messiah-like dictator.

I agree with you Shahzad that democracy has not been given any long period to take roots...He pointed put extreme radicalisation of Pakistani society...
    No solutions to de radicalise
But frankly speaking Shahzad things are not working well for Pakistan and doesn't look like improving in the next 25 years...
    Depressing but ...yeah...😢😢

While they are still talking about army, democracy, elites, feudalism, education system, illiteracy etc., India launched “One Nation One Subscription” (ONOS) initiative which is a significant move to provide free access to 13,000 academic journals, including major publishers like Elsevier, Springer Nature, Wiley, AAAS etc. for over 18 million students, researchers, and faculty.
This scheme, costing $715 million over three years, aims to democratize access to scientific knowledge and foster research and innovation across the country. It aligns with the goals of the National Education Policy 2020 and seeks to benefit researchers, especially in underrepresented areas.
Goes to show where the priorities of the nations are.

Well this was a tough listen (understandable though, I'd probably fuck up the audio/video or something else every second podcast) but worth the effort! Always like realist but cold thoughts on the world order more than idealistic broadstroking by either the left or the right which always garners a bigger audience.

The whole Government of Experts debate reveals Mr. Nazar's ignorance. There are departments in OECD nations running on COBOL, a language older than the most African nation states. There are large corporations in Pakistan, top 10 market cap ones, that are using 2 ERPs for the past 10 years because SAP sold them an expensive package 10 years ago, and they are still integrating it. Japanese government just stopped using floppy disks this year. You can't just wave a wand saying "IT AI Hurr Durr ", and things happen. Processes and Systems do not just transform because you just bought computers.
The suggestion that anyone can just transform FBR in 3 months is beyond ridiculous. It makes me take the speaker less seriously. It makes me doubt his expertise in any subject.

I thought who is this person interrrupting so much but then I saw he is an investment banker. Explained everything. On the question of democracy, he fails to realize that any system would require silent oath of agreeing to the terms of things like mandate etc. Democracy is self correcting even if it is flawed. Till you can have fair elections it would correct itself, no matter what. Even in India, the power of the ruling party was reduced because people were not happy with the performance but chose one over other because of lack of leadership in the opposition. You may need strong leaders to drive massive change but that is only a requirement if heavy changes are needed in a system.

15:00 State should not be in the business of business.
If I own a corporation in Pakistan and make pkr 100 profit. I will pay almost pkr 60 to the government as tax first and then get pkr 40 for myself. If I take that 40 and invest in growth, govt will always be my partner in profit( tax will increase when I make more money) but never in my loss.
We know for a fact that govt companies become stagnated, uncompetitive and thus make far less in profit and are mostly in loss.
We also know that each corporation in Pakistan can be dictated to produce for the govt in a war scenario.
Why is the left so adamant on keeping govt owned entities when the math never maths?

Pakistan’s problems are caused by saazish of yahood o hanood o nissara though China is a trusted friend. Pakistan is also a leader of the Muslim ummah and provides security to them all over the world.

A better question would be that do we need a new social contract (a constitution) which reflects the complexity and respects the diversity of our society.
The previous constitution was simply imposed upon us by a constituent assembly with an incomplete quorum since more than half of its members had split away due to fall of dhaka.
Psychologically our elite and intellectuals are still stuck somewhere in the rhetoric of the Pakistan Movement 🇵🇰 and keep romanticising it as if it resulted in a great leap forward.
Quite to the contrary due to partition and the holocaust that ensued we were cast away further in to the abyss and we slipped back in to the medieval age from which the British colonial government dragged us out at an unimaginable cost to all of us.
The institution building and modernization measures were all halted as we started to rethink our place in the cosmos.
The hell doors were kicked open and scores of its demons came pouring out in to the mainstream of our society where previously they weren't afforded much public space.
The challenge seems to be now to somehow remove those encroachments but they seem to be quite well entrenched on the backs of populist sentiment.
The only solution now left to save the body politic is a radical surgery to forcibly remove the cancer followed by steady doses of therapy to burn 🔥 the virus which ails the corpus populis.
Cold press and panadol will not kill the fever!
If we do not have it in us to perform or atleast bear this surgery then we should make solemn preparations for a grand funeral.
We have procrastinated for far too long and this needs to end. We have over killed the topics related to reforms which have been long pending without which there will be no windfall of capital investments, industrialization, scientific progress, job creation, tourism etc or even population control.
The tribalization of society must stop ✋️ to make way for the acceptance of and adjustment with the contemporary world so that we may finally be able to have a sane and normal life and society.

I totally disagree with the English education point. English should be learnt, yes. But the medium of instruction and books should be in the mother tongue, not even in Urdu. This is what Europeans, Japanese, China, South Korea and all other advanced nations do. Do not re-invent the wheel.
