Pueblo County is located in the southeaster quadrant of Colorado. There are 2,386 square miles of land and only 12 square miles of water.
Southeastern Colorado is known for plains. Vast, beautiful grasslands untouched and unblemished. Summer temperatures here average around 92ºF, warm and sunny! Winter temperatures hover around 15ºF, with about 28 inches of snowfall each year.
On the comfort index, Pueblo crushes the U.S. average of 54 by 18 points! Meaning Pueblo enjoys more days annually in the comfort range of 70-80ºF than most counties. To top if off, Pueblo County enjoys more than 250 sunny days a year!
With weather like this, it’s so easy to spend time outside, and Pueblo County has the landscape to accompany the sun! Blessed with views of mesas, badlands, and rivers. If you're looking for red-hued canyons, you can check out neighboring El Paso County!
Pueblo County offers an amazing view of the sky, day or night - no obstructing skyscrapers and light pollution out here! One particularly amazing stargazing location is Monument Lake.
The cost of living in Pueblo County is 15% less than the U.S. average and boasts low-cost energy and utility services. The mild climate helps keep energy costs to a minimum.
There are tremendous efforts in the county to use those sunny days and harness solar energy. Save yourself some money with inexpensive utilities and use it to invest in a cheaper real estate market!
This community is focused on growth, and with the cost of real estate here, it’s easy to get started! Make a piece of land into your own personal playground. Throw down the tailgate with friends, have a cold one, and reminisce on good times. Some properties are great for camping, RVs, or mobile homes. Some are more suited for tiny, container, manufactured, or developed housing.
When started to look at real estate in Pueblo County, it’s advisable to check with the Planning and Development Department. They can tell you exactly what each property is zoned for.
Pueblo County is very conscious of sustainability efforts, know that there are Sustainability Principles to be aware of for land developments.
If you’re planning on building, contact the Regional Building Department of Pueblo County. They provide guides for a variety of building scenarios (finishing basements, additions, pole barns). For any construction or development, these documents are required: Building Permit, Zoning Certificate, Plan and Building Specifications.
Colorado is home to the world’s largest elk population, at nearly a quarter million! There are also large populations of migrating mule deer, bighorn sheep, and sage grouse. This makes it a very popular hunting destination!
Colorado is also renowned for its fishing. With over 6,000 miles of streams and 2,000 lakes and reservoirs to choose from, you can fish at a different body of water every weekend! Be sure to check out the local Pueblo Reservoir (Lake Pueblo)!
Did you know that the agriculture industry plays a huge economic role in Pueblo? The mineral-rich soil, high quality water, and mild climate yield great growing conditions. Pueblo County is well-known for its famous chilies, a local staple.
Aside from the obvious hunting, fishing, and agricultural hobbies, there are plenty of other activities to discover in Pueblo County: hiking, mountain biking, ATV/UTV riding, water recreation, golf, Pueblo Riverwalk, skiing, and community events!
Aside from these great benefits, when you think of Colorado, you can’t help but think of mountains. And you’re not wrong! At the southwestern corner of the county you’ll find Greenhorn Mountain.
At 12,352 feet, this is the highest summit of the Wet Mountains range in the Rocky Mountains! A fantastic opportunity for climbing, hiking, and mountaineering, all at your back door!
Nearby is the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve and Blanca Peak. A great way to make family memories! Take the crew for a hike through the National Preserve, try surfing the dunes, camp within the park, and splash around in Medano Creek!
Pueblo County has a high quality of life and a low cost of living, with plenty of chances to connect with nature and the outdoors. Pueblo County is a place where treasured memories aren’t dependent on annual vacations, they can be made every weekend, in your own backyard.

I live in Pueblo County. There are no red hue canyons in Pueblo. Maybe if you take a 45 minute drive north to El Paso County, you can see Garden of the Gods. The Grand Canyon is NOT in Pueblo County, CO! 🙄
Monument Lake is located south of Trinidad, in Las Animas County.
So many things wrong about this video!
    Please get your facts straight.

Hi Julie! Thanks for your comment on our video :)
It's always great to get feedback from locals in the area. Thank you for the update on the red hue canyons - we've made a change to the transcript in the video description. I'd say it's definitely worth the drive to El Paso County, as you suggested! We agree the Grand Canyon is definitely not in Pueblo County! 😂We don't claim that in our video anywhere.
The Monument Lake we're referring to is actually north of Colorado Springs, about an hour drive from the city of Pueblo. I'm not aware of a Monument Lake south of Trinidad - maybe there are 2?
Thanks again for the feedback and thanks for watching!

High crime, poor schools. Sorry I moved here. Saving money again to leave. I love Colorado but pueblo needs help and it’s not getting it. Unsafe town. I’ve been a victim of crime twice in the six months I’ve been here. I’m a 67 year old woman. This place has no respect. Drunks everywhere. Drugs everywhere. Needles found along the sidewalks. Yuck. Yes Colorado is beautiful. But stay out of Pueblo. School system so poor kids only go 4 days a week and learn little while there. The worse. For gods sakes governor polis do something about Pueblo’s education and crime and drugs. What a dump. Can’t wait to move out.

Thankfully, we don't do many land transactions in the actual city of Pueblo. We like to stick to the rural areas of the county, where people can escape from the cities for some peace and quiet.
