    Hey mike those carriers will do that when cap goes out that other blue wire on herm goes to terminal on that communication board and if it doesn’t detect proper current will lock it out on 81 when it’s just weak also seen a lot of issues of 81 due to the txt not equalizing on systems with attic applications with long line set per tech support needs a liquid line silonoid valve it fixed the problem for me but that was on the inverter green speed systems great videos keep up the good work

    Quick easy diagnostic. Gotta love them early in the morning. Those 2stage infinity pumps capacitors seem to only last 2-3years. Kids these fays, don't know how easy they have it. I wish when I got into the field I had someone like yourself to ride with.

    I believe the thermal lockouts were triggered when the compressor didn't start and tripped internal overload which probably triggers that fault

  • @peterduffy1913
    @peterduffy1913 3 года назад +1

    Caps have internal contacts arranged to break upon distention of case (doming) due to internal pressure. Opening of the internal contacts protects against case rupture (thermal events) and damage to loads from capacitance value changes.

The thinking is the home is at a constant temp humidity free. What are you thoughts. • @ProfessorFate
    @ProfessorFate 3 года назад

    I had exactly the same issue with my 4 yr old 25HNB6 heat pump. In my case the 7.5 uF capacitor section (which connects to fan motor) measured OK. The 30 uF Compressor cap section measured at about 7uf. When the cap gets to low, compressor can’t start…it draws current until it trips the internal thermal protector. Control board will retry every 15 minutes. After three start failures it throws the 82 or 81 code (depending on it it was a high stage or low stage start attempt) and locks out for 4 hours. Explained on page 52 of Catalog No. 24-25-6SM “Application Guideline and Service Manual”.
    I’m an electrical engineer and had to figure it out when my local dealer could not. Carrier told him to replace thermal sensors, but my measurements showed sensors to be fine. My own queries through Carrier web site went unanswered. Worthless “support”.
    Thanks to the web site operators who place the manuals online.
