      Cheers. Just been out in the storm in it as my other cars, for one reason or another, are indisposed.
      Mad car for the money they are nowadays. Engine still bulletproof but suspension components and occasional electrical shenanigans let it down a bit.
      Overall, still less overall loss than a new large BMW or Merc.

    Great video , generally speaking are they expensive to insure in the UK ? Here in Rep of Ireland most insurance companies won't insure the Continental even for a mature adult with a full no claims and no penalty points.

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  6 месяцев назад

      Yeah, fairly good insurance as they are rarely stolen or crashed and nearly always driven by mature drivers so have a good insurance history which keeps the costs down.
      Strange it is a problem in NI.

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  5 месяцев назад +1

      I used one of those GoPro suction mounts. They are pretty stable along with a GoPro 9 or higher with good stabilization control.
      if the car has a shaky window then it will always look wrong.

      @@wesleyb5517 ASAIK you cannot get a service contract on a car of this age. New ones probably have one but as the cars get older these things will be wear and tear. You could look at 3rd party warranties but many things may not be covered.

    Hi, Could you mention the running costs and repairs/servicing cost etc..,,Thanks

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  Год назад +3

      The running costs are fairly hideous. It is only serviced at Bentley which does not help.
      Our last 5 services averaged £2500 and we had one adhoc suspension bill of £5000.
      Petrol is crap too. Over the 7 years we have now had the car, it has averaged 11.5 MPG!
      When the car has an actual service, Bentley go over it with incredible diligence so the report often throws up a 'cost' of £5k - £7k but once we remove the little things then it drops a lot.
      i.e. there is one little switch on the driver's side 4 switch electric window panel. £1250!! As they have to replace the whole thing. Load of bollocks. It is fine.
      Still... it will not now depreciate, the car is running perfectly so in a way it still balances out. A new big Audi or BMW will likely cost the same over 3 years when you factor in depreciation.
      Getting a newer Bentley will also have bad depreciation so I do still think this car (2007) is a sweet spot. So much car for the money but one has to be aware of the real running costs.

    I would consider this beauty if there were bails of cash in the trunk and a very experienced mechanic in the back seat.

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  Год назад +2

      Ha. No need for a mechanic. The engine is bulletproof but the trunk of cash would come in handy for the minor stuff or things like suspension and roof mech.
      Still some bargains out there at £25k instead of buying a boring £50k Audi or BMW which will depreciate. The overall cost of both 3 years might be closer than you think. Meanwhile one would have a great time in the Bentley.

    You speak as a british gangster 😁

    Is it a good car ?
    I see a lot of these Bentleys in Switzerland

      Ha, yeah, I guess I do sound like a gangster to those outside the UK 😁
      All Bentleys are good, if not great, cars.
      They have excellent engines but can be prone to electrical and suspension issues.
      The trick is to find one that has had recent work done and a full service history.

    My Aunt did near $20,000 in repairs in the first year she had her VW Continental. Good luck if you're stupid enough to buy one!

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  6 месяцев назад

      😃 I am sure your Aunt isn't actually stupid!
      These cars can have hefty bills for sure. Important to buy one from a dealer with warranty , keep them maintained by specialists annually and buy a good one in the first place. Certainly, never but the cheapest. It might bite one's ass.
      Some owners will get away with it but over time there will be some big bills. We were mostly just paying service costs (£1500 to £2000) but have had 2 x £5k bills for bigger stuff in that time.
      Still, I contend that one would lose that in value by buying a new mid-sixed German executive car!
      I'd much rather have the Bentley. it is an amazing experience.
