As a person who uses they them pronouns amongst others, I deeply appreciate that we get some representation and it makes absolute sense that it would be someone who works with Brennan. Theoretically the aggressors in the riots (white, some civilian but many servicemen/sailors) were targeting people wearing "zoot suits" because the style took up a lot of fabric in the fabric-rationed WWII era. The attackers were white, the victims mostly latinx (with individuals of African, Filipino or other BIPOC thrown in for additional racist-points). Over 150 people were assaulted and hundreds more of latinx people were arrested on BS charges. Bonus fact: Eleanor Roosevelt (who was First Lady at the time of the riots) went on record about a week later saying that she was concerned about the racial aspect of the riots and the LA Times accused her of being a communist✌
TLDR: Racist people use whatever excuse or distraction they can to take attention away from the racist root of the problem. The coats being ugly was a non issue; they were just the excuse for the behavior they already wanted to exhibit.

bella pritchard abusing references aren’t jokes. Constantly shoehorning a plotline about sexual exploration in a fucking dnd game isn’t funny. You know how it’s like a taboo to have intricate sex scenes in dnd? There’s a reason for it. Dnd isn’t a game about sex. At least when Amy does it with the doctor she’s aware that she’s just being chaotic and fucking with brennan. Ally does it without being aware it bogs the whole thing down. Whenever she makes jokes about her lgbt plotline you can feel the air of the room just wants this to be over with because it’s so irrelevant to the plot. At least her anti religious plot can be tied to the whole group’s theme of daddy and mommy issues. The lgbt plotline literally does nothing for the plot, because the anti religious group has never been established as big on lgbt hating, and literally everyone is cool with lgbt in that universe. So the only person stopping ally’s character from being true to herself is quite literally herself. Riz being a detective is because he has a compulsion to solve crimes because his dad was murdered. Riz is an awkward half org is because he has the rage of a barbarian orc, but he was raised by 2 happy go lucky gnomes. Fabian was raised his whole life to mirror his father, but he wants to be his own person. Fig is rebellious because she learned halfway through her life that she’s half devil. She de facto hates her mom but then comes around to it when she realizes the complexity of life. Adaine has crippling anxiety that is worsened in an environment where her parents not giving a fuck about her and her sister always fucks with her.
