68 collecting SSI. Still working 300 to 400 hrs a year at my residential contracting business. $32,000 IN 2023.
My loyal clients keep bugging me. It's actually stimulating now.
Theres nothing like watching the sunrise with my crew waitng for the concrete trucks

When you retire you need to retire to something. Don’t just stay at home and be a couch potato. You can take on work that is meaningful to you without worrying about how well it pays. A lot of people try to turn hobbies into a business but when you depend on it for money a lot of times it sucks the fun out of it. When you don’t need the money you can take breaks or travel or whatever

I turned a hobby into a business and completely ruined it like you said. Thanks for sharing!

That’s what I’d be looking for is flexibility if l choose to work part time and l don’t want my SS $ messed with, l had to go back to the SSA to let them know that l retired, l thought l made that clear when l applied for SS and the SSA corrected my SS payment

$1700 a month for health insurance!?!?!? No wonder a lot of older Americans can't retire.
