  • Welcome to another edition of the VT Podcast.
In this episode, I have partnered with Continental Reinsurance to be part of their podcast series called Insurance Matters.
Following up on part 1, we explore even more reasons as to why so few Africans buy into the concept of insurance. What can the industry do to better serve consumers' risk-transfer needs and create new business opportunities? Would it be beneficial for the industry to consider different options?
Listen to part 2 of this 2-part series here.

Low income sector ie majority of blacks can not afford essential basic insurance products ie ( life, car, property and content covers etc) except funeral cover for basic dignified burial. Last month our Soweto house and car got burned and unfortunately we couldnt claim because we cancelled the insurance during covid. And thanks to the community they stopped the fire in time. My life cover got cancelled twice this year because of high premiums. Life cover should be as popular and in demand as a funeral cover. When you pass away R10m benefit will go a long way for your children than them burying you and they're left with nothing but debts. My one cent input - AFFORDABILITY ISSUE! Shalom 🙏
