Everything the program now does is qualified. The shame of U of M’s CHEATING will linger no matter what tangible consequences they receive. Yep, that includes leaving to go to another conference. Do you think their new conference won’t also regard them as cheaters?

  • @DeshCanter

Michigan will have several offensive sets designed specifically for Penn State.
For one, one “running back” didn’t get any carries against Purdue, and that’s JJ McCarthy. JJ is good for a few key 1st downs on RPO’s, in playaction, and on the occasional QB draw.
Also, look for Corum and Edwards in the backfield at the same time. Donovan drawing a safety opens up gaps for Blake. If PSU leaves the safeties Donovan on a LB is a mismatch every time.
Or, JJ empty backfield with a 4 WR set and a TE in playaction, very difficult for a defense to cover.

If people actually believe Urban Meyer never had crazy buckeye fans taping Michigan games. I promise you if he didn't have it done on purpose he damn sure accepted tape sent to him. The fans down there are so insane and i guarantee that they go to Michigan games and record the sidelines. Its just damn near impossible to think that never happens with those psychopaths down there

The basis of his argument is not that Michigan did not do it, it’s that others do it/did it too. That’s not a defense. Additionally, Connor Stalions was employed by the Michigan football team, a random fan sending a tape in to a coach, is not employed by the football team. Stalions actions, were done as a representative of the football team, even if he was not at the games himself.

I am amazed at how many people who think the leaders of large organizations know what is happening on a day to day basis several layers below them. The Michigan football program is a substantial program. The top person is dependent on the honesty of the people below them.
The head coach of a major program has many decisions to make that are not directly related to play calling and such. He hires assistant coaches to fill those roles so he can handle all of the decisions required to run the organization.
Any organization that has multiple layers of operations is at risk of rogue employees.
To say that the head of a multi layer organization should know what is happening just shows ignorance on how multi layer organizations work. I see a large amount of ignorance being put in RUclips comments.

We are not talking about the guy doing the laundry here. This guy was on the sidelines in the ears of at least the coordinators. In your context, those two would be the layer just below the head coach. If the CFO and COO were taking actions that put the organization at risk, and the board felt that the CEO should have known, the board would 100% call for the CEO’s head. For sure there are corrupt people and organizations out there, which appears to be the real comparative to the leadership at Michigan.

You have to recognize a wrongdoing or poor choice. BUT you better support your coach, team, and school to make sure that the "punishment " is COMMENSURATE WITH THE WRONGDOING. Make dang sure it's not overkill. Sign stealing goes on with ever team at every level. It is not the huge advantage that other teams make it out to be. AND THEY KNOW IT. THEY KNOW IT.
Why is this all coming out NOW and not last year or the year before? Could it be because this Michigan team has a real shot to win it all?
DON'T LET THE SORRY ASS NCAA AND BIG 10 CONFERENCE (which has benefited greatly from Michigan sports teams) SABOTAGE THIS SEASON. If they could wait until now to start crying and over reacting like a bunch of cowardly hypocrites, they can wait for due process and the end of the year (and shut their hypocritical mouths). I would look into any possible legal action against purposely trying to ruin the Michigan football program by over blowing this situation and enlisting the media that are so horny for sensationalism in turning this into more than it is.

Covid yr was an anomaly. Players sat out the season and the team had a few outbreaks. Michigan was a 10 win tram throughout Harbaugh’s tenure. They biggest change is they got rid of as their defensive coordinator that only blitzed/play man after 2020. Then they finally got a competent QB in JJ. Those are your real differences. That sign stealing crap is a narrative by jealous rivals. It’s the players.

Maybe if coaches like Ryan Walters were good enough to make changes on the fly they wouldn't be 2-7. I remember having to adjust and even change signs in high school 30 years ago. We had great coaches and they were good at in-game adjustments, and they were often trying to disguise things because we knew there was a lot of in-game scouting because it's allowed.

    Bylaw 11.1.1 states:
“[A]n institution’s head coach is presumed to be responsible for the actions of all assistant coaches and administrators who report, directly or indirectly, to the head coach. An institution’s head coach shall promote an atmosphere of compliance within his or her program and shall monitor the activities of all institutional staff members involved with the program who report, directly or indirectly, to the coach.”
