Not just any article of clothing, but apparently their equivalent of a nightgown. Comfortable, fancy, but fragile and not in any way tough. And that totally doesn't describe Wilbert the human. And by this point, Wilbert knew what his name means in their language. And it's not like the name is an intimidating one among humans either.
So the issue that I have with these types of stories (not all HFY but just this one story type) is that it paints the child of the tyrant in a more sympathetic way then those slaves who are rebelling against said tyrant, while also making them (the slaves) seem like horrid child murderers. This is just... weird.
So…you think the child is guilty for the acts of the parent? That children have the power to alter a society while still children? You are the type that the humans of these stories would bring their entire force to wipe out if you do.
@@nvfury13 Sorry I should have made this a bit clearer, my position is not that the children are just as guilty for the crimes of their society as their parents, its that painting the members of a slave revolt, especially one from a society that apparently tortures and kills slaves for entertainment, as explicitly the bad guys is not a very good thing to do. Especially when it has their "kick the dog moment" (the thing that makes them unambiguously evil) attempting to kill a sympathetic child.
@@BipolarKitten You object to it being depicted in the story, why? Is it because it might make people less sympathetic to the same type of thing in reality? Because history shows that it very much is a repeated pattern in those events. Just because they were slaves doesn’t excuse blatant evil, nor should that evil be swept under the rug. It wasn’t the entire revolt either, those that came for her, and perhaps the leaders of the revolt (if it was an order they were given) are certainly shown to be evil by those acts, but not the rest. No more than the children are responsible for their parents actions.
@@nvfury13 also you’re either incredibly naive or stupid to think that executing the children of a despot that is being overthrown as bad. They will just become another despot when they grow up. Better to wipe the whole family out and start fresh.
She laughs at his true name but he still willing to go to back to save her. This is why aliens like humans as friends and fear them as enemies

@@nvfury13 it’s not evil to exterminate a parasite which is exactly what the xenos in this story are.
