Mark, I have had the same hard case travel bag for 20 years and it has travelled the world many times over. So many in fact that there isn’t a space not covered in airport and fragile stickers. No broken clubs and no need to replace yearly. I do think it has been fantastic whereas my colleagues have had soft bags and paid the price in damaged shafts etc.

Hi. Question for you. I've always been concerned about fitting a large hard case into either my trunk or maybe an Uber trunk. I've had enough trouble with Uber with my current soft case sometimes. Even when I reserve the Comfort class for Uber since anything electric Uber classifies as 'comfort' despite their sometimes puny room. Have you ever had issues with trying to jam in your hard case?

$5 2nd hand padded travel case with wheels like the SunMountain bag, from the chairity shop. Plus an $8 solid plastic drainage pipe to put clubs in. I put socks on the iron heads and pack the pipe with shirts etc so there's no club rattle. I have a 2nd hard plastic tube for extra clubs if I need it (I carry extra wedges/putters and shafts depending where I'm going). Altogether, cost me under $20 and the tubes are so strong I can sit on them, and not worry about the the bag getting damaged.
For extra protection, I remove the heads of my woods, wrap them in bubble wrap, and carry those in hand luggage or pack separately. I spent ages trying to find perfect bags, but Mark's right - they get damaged and never truly protect your clubs, even if they don't break! I travel a lot and all airlines just don't take care of your luggage. Horror stories of broken clubs are too easy to find. Whatever bag you buy - go find some drainage pipe and add it inside the bag - thank me later!

Sun Mountain glider best by miles if you travel a lot. Expensive but worth every penny

The point of the hard case is that not everyone can afford new clubs every month, like myself it took a year to save for just a set of irons, so I’m not sure how you can say you don’t see the point in the hard case ??

It's all personal preference at the end of the day but you can find more padding and protection in the soft cases sometimes, just because it's solid around the outside doesn't mean they can't be thrown around around inside without the padding so with the extra space you tend to get and weight you can save from a soft case they tend to be a popular option ⛳

Come on Mark....you don't get the hard case??? Have you seen the way baggage handlers throw bags on the jet? I'll just grab my Ping Hoofer, throw it in the hard case and not worry about any damage

Apologise, it looks like this one has sold out and has been discontinued by Sun Mountain. A great alternative at this sort of price would be the Bag Boy T-660 Golf Travel Cover which can be found here: www.thegolfshoponline.co.uk/bagboy-t-660-hard-top-travel-cover/
