Valve Products always have parts so good that the community puts up with the parts you wouldn't believe came out of an actual professional development team.
As someone who keeps dipping in and out of Source 2's filmmaker, I really appreciate these videos. Particularly excited about that 'porting internet/source files to source 2' video. The way I learned was quite slow, but with a quick enough workflow I'd probably, finally, take the plunge.
Wow, lots of helpful stuff in here! Those spline rigs in particular actually look really convenient, no more hand animating wires and cables! I look forward to seeing some more tips and tricks in the future!
As a person who has no plan in ever working with source or 3D animation whatsoever, I can still confidently say I’m so concerning interested in everything this man does out of his sheer talent
That clip showcasing parallax/displacement mapping in Source 2 makes me jelly as someone who converted to using Eevee in Blender whilst waiting for S2FM.
Yeeesss! Thank you Harry for sharing your knowledge with us! I've been wanting to get into S2FM for a while but just couldn't get around understanding all the features. Excited for more tutorials to come!
What a sweet buttery voice doin the explaining. ^^ I don't use Source... at least not yet, and even I see how neat of a tutorial this is, since there seem to be many problems with the engine new users wouldn't know how to solve. Maybe I can use it some day in the future or just to have nice some knowledge.
im 99.9999% sure i’ll never use sfm, both 1 and 2(or others if valve ever learns how to say 3), but by god is this interesting major envy of ya’lls patience, learning and mastering stuff like this, i know my ADHD would never let me concentrate long enough for that
This is super awesome. I'd like to ask, would you make a tutorial on how to install S2FM? I feel that would really help a lot of SFM users who may want to try out S2FM.
i REALLY WISH i can learn source filmmaker but i dont even know how to animate a single frame or make incredible lighting would be great if there was a "starter" tutorial or smth
@@theironycomedy6 the extra complexity is almost all engine side, in terms of actually using it its nearly identical, with some quality of life improvements
6:00 Ah, the traditions of Source tools. "Hey, so this part of the engine is supposed to work, but just doesn't. At all. So I've included a download that allows it to work..."
Well, it's working as intended. The issue is that Half Life doesn't ship with all the source content (because that would double or triple the game size for no reason) You only need the original files if you intend to edit and make custom stuff, so it's a pretty niche problem overall. =P
Someday..I will have a strong PC And then I'll start learning source filmmaker 2.. and I'll watch this video again time because I'll forget every tip 😅 but now i just wanna say, your voice is really cool
Not sure if you still reply or look at comments on this, but I have a big question. Gradient fog in hammer works after compiling and loading in-game, but NOT in S2FM. Any way to make it work without using volumetric fog?
any tips on creating environments? i want to get into the art of my OWN spaces and objects... what tools or programs would u recommend in making realistic stuff like that? and also, how do i implement that into S2FM to make my own scenes?
I have a question : In SFM, some eye-textures allow to make animated irises by applying the "$irisframe" integer by using custom materials in the model tab. It allows me for example to animate an eye and to make it shrink or grow at will. The vtm texture allowed for multiple textures to be compiled in a single one, allowing me to animate it. I'm still looking for a way to achieve the same result in S2FM. Is it even doable ?
was hoping one day we'd get a proper S2FM standalone release with more graphical systems, fixes to tools and janky workarounds, etc. But it seems like S&Box is doing that now? I've asked around but still haven't gotten an answer about what S&Box's S2FM is like
Hi, I was wondering if you could explain to me how to make model's eyes glow? Like for example the combine models, the eyes do not glow and I'd like to make an animation
I am sooo late, but do you know how I can fix broken materials? For example, some citizen models have a red grid on them and I don't know how to fix that.
I love the sudden cuts to "...other...body parts." Harry knows, and he's judging everyone.

every time I see your video, I want to switch to the s2fm engine :)
...i suddenly appreciate the hell sfm animators go through to bring us joy
This was very helpful actully
Thank you
Thanks for uploading this! I’ve been considering someday going into SFM animation myself, and this could be helpful for when that time comes!
Finally, a tutorial from the god of animation himself.
Now, I've heard of sourcery BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS!
Never thought i would get a video tutorial from Harry on how to use Source2 Engine but i love it!
Yeeesss! Thank you Harry for sharing your knowledge with us! I've been wanting to get into S2FM for a while but just couldn't get around understanding all the features. Excited for more tutorials to come!
Great (?) to see that at least S2FM keeps having things accessible or fixable in a confusing way, just like the ol' SFM!
i don't even use source 2 filmmaker but this was entertaining to watch
I did not expect new SFM to have so many cool features...
Nice voice. Very smooth, very narratory.
WOW, the Xen Shader stuff comes with so many useful features I never dared to investigate (like parralax occlusion mapping)...

Amazing, well beyond me. Last time I dabbled with this sort of thing was Hammer. It's funny to see that things still spawn at origin point.
I know everything similar to Source Filmmaker. I would love this video and something quite exciting.
