Gosh I like this guy. Just always a breath of fresh air when I've been listening/watching too much PROFESSIONALLY PRESENTED music. I so appreciate you Isto. Thank you!
I just uploaded a version of this. I remeber hearing it somewhere in a version I really liked. And was scrolling to see if I could find it and recognized you in this recording in the garden. I'm sure this is where I got a taste for this song. Thanks.
I am a BIG Mills Brothers fan. That is why I love this song so much. Anyway. i saw a version by Stephen Moorlag - I'll See You In My Dreams. It reminded me of you. I Love Your YT channel
I've only ever heard the Chet Atkins version of this song but you do a great rendition of it as well. I'm a little jealous of your talent, I need to up my guitar game. Keep up the great work Isto!
Great job on a great song.......and the hollyhocks are pretty too. My grandparents used to say that long ago everyone had a patch of hollyhocks, now you don't see them much. Always love your song choices , guitar skills and your voice!
Man, every time I see one of your videos pop up in my subscription feed, I immediately get a big-ol' grin. Your mastery of the guitar combined with your soothing voice always brighten my day. Keep up the good work, my man!
I followed a FB link to this video. I was enjoying your playing right from the start of the song, but when you started singing, wow! You're more than good. Excellent, playing, singing and choice of song.
I'll see you in my dreams Hold you in my dreams Someone took you right out of my arms Still I feel the thrill of your charms Lips that once were mine Tender eyes that shine They will light my lonely way tonight I'll see you in my dreams
Isto, I like to emphasise my minor 6's by playing them as 'doubles' -- and in 'Summertime', it's minor 6's (but in the low register, on the low E, A, D, G strings) that are used in the 1st verse --- nice playing, as usual.
Very loosely based on Merle Travis. Everyone plays this more interestingly than Merle but no one played it better before Merle! John Pilla what is Arlo Guthrie’s manager before he died at the achingly young age of maybe 40. He grew up in Philadelphia and was my Younger brother is Guitar Teacher. John was a sensational flat picker. If you closed your eyes you could not tell the difference between John and Doc Watson. I once asked him, “What’s the difference between you and Doc?” He was silent for a moment. Then he said, “Doc Watson doesn’t wait for the next John Pilla record to come out before he learns something new.”
beautiful, simply one of the best guitarists and musicians on youtube
Thanks!
It simply doesn't get any better than this...
OUTSTANDING!
