I use this technique sometimes as well, but I like to keep the camera to take advantage of the depth of field. I'll still keep the camera stationary and move the null, by not attaching the camera to the null. I'll use a point light as well and position it stationary near the camera so objects are lit up and cast shadows as they come close. Since I do graphics for news media, this is my favorite way to show things like court document pages or emails in After Effects.
I've watched more than 10+ videos for null and 3d layer and this is the only video that made me crystal clear about 3d and null as well as smooth moovements
So many after effect camera movement tutorial out there, but THIS? This is the one I needed. Bro you're a life saver. For that you have a new subscriber. Thanks a lot bro.
3:48 You dont have to create a null for each move, iirc, in the graph editor, you can just move the keyframes up, so it does the movement without having to stop before doing the next move. And if that works just like that, i think a camera would be better just for a simple reason, DoP, if you achieve that animation, you can upgrade it by putting some DoP to give more a sense of depth in those animations
or you can simply Ctrl+Click the linear keyframe and it will adjust the graph for you automatically. For example you have 3 key moments easy ease starting and ending keyframes and ctrl+click all the keyframes in between them
To clarify, moving the key frame up in the Speed Graph will ensure the movement doesn't stop. In the value graph, you'd have to adjust the handles to not be flat
You could safe time and objects if you use just 1 null. Then edit the values in the Graph editor (speed) and push the keyframes a little bit up so the null doesn’t stop the movement 😉
I started doing (won't say learning) AE for almost a year now.. Never it crossed my mind to have null object tied to another null object.. Damn! I am glad to come across this tutorial... I am thrilled to try.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but the reason why with the camera stops completely, is because the speed goes to 0. So if you just go into the speed graph, and raise it up, and stop it from going to 0 in the first place you'll be fine. I just tested it, it's great! Add some motion blur, a wiggle(2,10) and you don't need to create null objects and stuff, and just keep using the camera. But idk, I just started out with ae, sorry if I'm saying stupid stuff lol,
Benza, you are my inspiration brother... You blow my mind to some points of my career. I've been working as an editor for over 5 years, and now I'm looking to expand and work internationally. I started creating content about editing to see if I can attract clients, and I hope it works out, haha. thank youuu so much!
That's really inspiring to hear, I'm glad I could be of help to someone experienced like you. Good luck with content creation and client acquisition, keep me updated on how things go. Peace brother✌️
Amazing, thank you for this tutorial! I was so frustrated why my attempts at such projects never looked totally perfect, but this definitely does the trick! You're a genius 😃
You're right. If you wanted to make a more realistic 3D scene, you would use depth of field with aperture and other settings preferably, but in this case we weren't going for that scene setup. I was specifically focusing on the movements in this case.
If you made the movements, how do I edit the first movement if I want to change it. Because when all the NULL's are linked, it messes up, and I can't edit a second keyframe of the NULL because it's position value is on 0; 0; 0.
I've been struggling to do just this for so long. Thanks man, awesome tutorial. Quick, well explained, and a nice example. Just a quick note, the mic sound stings a bit in the higher frequencies. That could be a great next upgrade, but don't worry! It's not like you're Tyler1 😂
Quick question. Couldn't you have done this with more cameras instead of nulls and wouldn't it have been better because you could have adjusted the focus so that each word would be in focus only at the right time and the others would be blurred? I am asking because cameras also have more specific parameters than null objects that only have Position
I couldn't have used the exact same technique with cameras because once you overlap 2 cameras together, the one on top is going to be the one you will be seeing, and therefore "block" the movement from the previous one. I agree that blurring out the words would have been better, but this scene setup was done only for the purpose of demonstrating the effect. You can perhaps try parenting cameras to the nulls, and try the technique I used. If you do, please let me know how it ended up, peace.
@@benza312 Yes I just tried it and you're right, cameras cannot be used but it's a shame, it would be much better. I hope Adobe will bring us a solution in the future
Why not just use the graph editor and keep everything on one layer? You could have one null parented to another if you need some extra movement. I can imagine this would be a nightmare to jump back into after a month or so, or for a coworker to look at ;) Just Alt+click on your keyframe and increase the speed percentage (if you’re not a fan of the graph editor).
@@benza312 Yep but wanted to see the tutorial of what was shown initially. Because I am more interested in that rather than animating text.. No one animate texts like that unless its a boring slow dialogue.
@@velocity1479 Agreed. But the whole point of this tutorial is to show you the technique which you can later apply to any scenario, including the animation you've seen in the intro preview.
@@benza312 Yeah but in a simple term.. Why didn't you just teach us what you've showcased.. what exactly is useful.. Coz even you wont be making/using those text animation..
nah.. you end up with a mess of things linked to endless nulls. Instead make a camera, make a 3d null,, link cam position/rotation to the 3d null with a simple expression using 'smooth' command.
a century passed and now finally someone posted what i was looking for all these years

That's correct. You could also do that technique, and it works. It really comes down to what you prefer.
i subscribed because this is the most informative yet brief video i have found on youtube. very rich of good content yet easy
Thank you brother, I really appreciate it

I'm Brazilian, but you helped me a lot through this tutorial. Now I'm sure I was trying to make it so simple.. Gratitude
Awesome tutorial man.I loved it.A future topic about all the features of the camera and when to use 1 node and 2 node will be really beneficial
Thanks brother! I'll definitely add that to my video list.
Awesome work. I used to do all the movements on the same null object.
Thank you!
that is a really short, simple, goo way to teach camera movement.
thanks mate
Very good and unique tutorial, wouldnt have thought of it
bro i can't tell you how much this helped me. thank you SO SO MUCH
Thanks a lot brother, was having trouble with the camera

You're welcome 🤝
you're awesome man keep up the good work!
Thank you man🙏🏻
cool concept! I was just wondering, why you turned on motion blur on the nulls and not on the text layers….
You're right, I messed up right there😂
Never thought that, it was too easy man…thanks alot….
This is nice. ❤ from Bangladesh 👍🏻
amazin tutorial for starters like me, thanks!!🔥
great man some confusion about velocity but done it simple
This very helpful video
I believe that with the camera in the composition, you can control the depth of field, blur, aperture, and other settings.

great thank u bro

I usually do with only 2 null. 1 for big movements and one for the small moves, is a bit more simplier than this cumbersome tree of nullbut effective
Glad My Video Could be an Inspiration for someone who is using AE :D Great tutorial btw! Keep it up :D
Thank you! Great tutorial🔥
If you made the movements, how do I edit the first movement if I want to change it. Because when all the NULL's are linked, it messes up, and I can't edit a second keyframe of the NULL because it's position value is on 0; 0; 0.
Bro you solved it, I hated that stop when I was animating
Make a video please on which camera to use and when to use it ?
😊. Thanks Man 😎
Nice tutorial brother!!
Thanks man, appreciate it
It’s possible to add depth of field in camera to have an out of focus word ?
nice video thanks for sharing you continue giving value this channel will grow faster bro
Man, thank you so much for this hot sauce.
Thank. Great technique. But I think you can use the same technique with a camera parented to these nulls
The problem with the parented camera is that the movements are reversed
Do not forget to make a tutorial explaining the camera settings in details
great tut pro

this is genius
Way you switch the motion in the layers that doesnt view at all?
Awesome
thanks man
how did you do the 3D after effects mouvment in the intro ?
The same way I demonstrated you in the tutorial ;)
or u can also create a camera and link that to the null. Thats clear imo
Amazing
Keep Going!
Awesome broo
Correct me if I wrong. It feels like I can do this without leaving Premiere using only 3D Effects.
I suppose you could, test it out and get back to us ;)
much love
What Mac are you using ? M3 max ?
I'm using an M3 Pro version with 18GBs of RAM

Cool
best!
3 years of camera tutorials then you find out you dont need the camera at all 😅
and you just got new subscripe awesome
u can use 2 views if any of ur layers are 3d
thanks bro for the tutorial, just pay attention to your mic, it's really aggressive to the ears to talk that near of your mic

Okay so in the preview there was a different movement which I actually wanted to see.. But you showcased something else???
The exact same technique that was used in the tutorial was also used in the creation of the intro preview

The Tutorial was Good, but bro fix your Audio, it hurts Ears
I mean, that is a good way to achieve 3d animation for begginers, but the real sauce is to master the graph editor.
