Always good to have a plan with your significant other. I have educated my girlfriend on the use of firearms and take her to practice frequently. We have known locations in the home with defense mechanisms and a plan for when we need to shelter in place, need to go, when someone is trying to break in, and when someone has broken in.
The police cant just arrest people and "bring them in for questioning" if theres nothing to question them about. You declined to prosecute thus no crime had been committed. You legalized his actions by giving him defacto permission to tare your boxes up and trespassing. The law is the law.
I AM pro gun, always have been, always will be. This is ONE of the MANY reasons why. I don't need to justify it, it's a fundamental human right. Your response WAS PERFECT, and it is STATISTICALLY PROVEN that it happens MILLIONS of times a year.
The reason prone buy guns is not to hurt people, it’s for the peace of mind. Most times you will never need to use it, but having it will give you reassurance knowing you aren’t defenseless. And god forbid you do have to use it, you know you will be protected. Yall stay safe out there, you dealt with it the best possible way Rob!
Definitely the right call Rob. Best possible outcome overall. Would absolutely love to know how buddy's day started and how he ended up on your porch "looking" for cardboard
He could smell the Alfredo from the previous night. Isn’t this the same house where the fellas tried to steal one of your Best Ferrari’s ? This is all from the time that you let Jimbo live in the garage. Remember that ? Happy Bolognese…!!!
13:18 you did it 100% correctly. You were ready IF the situation escalated but you didn't escalate it. He was on your porch but IF he tried to come in you were ready. It's like you have a fire extinguisher HOPING you have a fire, you have it in CASE you have a fire. In case something DOES catch on fire, you have the fire extinguisher in your hand. Lots of guys will have a fire extinguisher handy if they've done fuel system work and are firing it up to be ready IF it catches fire. You don't want to spray your engine bay with co2 foam, but it's better than the car and garage burning down.
While I'll never recommend that anyone open the door to someone you don't know, this guys dementor was non threating and I feel you handled that well. You were armed to protect yourself and you stayed cool. That all said, you never know when there might be more than one person out there. In my area, we have had instances where someone will knock on the door and start talking to you with some lame story then their buddies rush the door as soon as you open it. Thankfully everything turned out ok and you didn't need to use force.
If the guy was trying to open your front door isn’t that an attempt at breaking and entering? If he got into the house he’s an immediate threat to Rob and his family. I feel like the Police maybe should have taken that factor a bit more seriously but that’s just my opinion.
exactly the way to think about it. glad you have a good head on your shoulders and understand that you are your own defender for you and your family. the scotus even ruled that police arent here for your protection.
Something to consider is you have a ring doorbell with 2 way communication. You may have been able to talk using that so you could have kept more than a glass door between you.
We had a home invasion when I was probably 11 years old or something. Guy broke in the back door, mom woke up and grabbed a BB gun. Dad managed to shove him back out the door, and everybody stumbled around in the dark calling 911 and generally freaking out. It was just peachy.
Think this guy is poorly :( makes me sad that people live like this. I hope he got help and support. I hate seeing uneducated people say “shoot him”. As you said, this is someone’s son or dad. Thank you for being that responsible person and making good judgement.

My parents went crazy early and are now in a home. They aren't much older than this guy. And together they did something similar. In my opinion, you should have tried to have the guy charged. Getting my parents the care they needed happened because of a similar situation to this. They went to another state and started banging on a random door late at night trying to find my estranged uncle. They were admitted to the hospital and we got what we needed to get POA.
What were the early signs? I'm a little worried about my dad. He just turned 60. He's been taking a drug for stomach issues that's been linked to early onset dementia for as long as I can remember. Driving around with him on a trip to Florida was scary. I don't remember him being a terrible driver like that.
@@mentals555 my dad got that way, but there were a combination of things he had going on. He had cataracts that he did eventually get fixed, and a lot of stress. For maybe a decade+ he was a noticably worse driver, especially on longer trips where he didn't know when to stop driving. His dad had his licence pulled after his doctor insisted after an accident my grandpa could never accept was his fault. Both of them were around for a while after they became bad drivers.
Should have pressed charges. Who knows what this guy's intentions were? The story could be totally different if he managed to get entry to the house, by picking the lock or say if someone forgot to lock it.
I am pro second amendment. My husband won't let me leave the house without my Sig 365. I had a guy that worked at a Belle Tire steal my personal information and started stalking and harrassing me. I learned quickly he was on parole and called his parole officer. The guy was just released 4 months prior for a CSC 13 and younger. It was a scary situation. I think your wife should get some training on how to respond in these situations. What would she do if you were not home? Warrior Poet Society talks about these scenarios in detail. Jon Lovell's wife talks about it also. She is trained on how to handle it because it is so important.
You handled this rationally and fairly. I appreciate your level-headed approach. Thank you for sharing your experience. Charging this guy MIGHT have felt good at the time, but what would it produce? Would it make you safer? No. If you had pressed charges, he'd be released in short order and would have every opportunity to do you harm in the near future. Personally, I'd rather have a more stout front door than a glass door that may require I use a gun to "defend my home." Seems like utilizing a better door for security would be a much easier way to achieve the same result - and you don't have to take anyone's life! Again, you pretty rationally and reasonably discussed this. And say you DID end up shooting and killing the guy. It wouldn't be a stretch to see it coming to pass that your wife and family would want to move, knowing what happened on your front porch. So you could end up having to leave the wonderful house you designed, built and saw come to fruition because you decided to take "self-defense" to the most violent extreme end. Easily avoided by taking another approach: utilize stout security and give the police the time to arrive and it resolves itself. (Plus, say the guy did start kicking at the door. There's nothing that says you HAVE to engage. Just grab the family, exit the rear door, jump in the car and escape. Cops come and deal with the dude in the end and it gets resolved without the use of a firearm. There are LOTS of other ways to deal with this scenario that don't involve killing someone.) The US is creating the homeless and mental health crisis and this is the result: cold, homeless, mentally unstable people looking for shelter. When you villainize the poor and desperate, you abandon humanity. And we're doing a great job with that right now. Of COURSE Rob was within his rights to defend himself and assert the sovereignty & safety of his home and family. But did he need to shoot and possibly kill this guy? Nope. Anyone trying the front door on a house in gun-loving America either has a death wish or is mentally unstable. Or maybe a murderer. Or all three! I'm putting my money on drugs & mental health. And mental health is NOT the problem in our country. That's just one of many symptoms: drug-addiction, domestic violence, crime, dysfunction, despair, poverty, stress, etc. ALL the result of economic stress. Lack of economic opportunity is THE cause. Lack of money, honey! Either way, as long as we support rapacious capitalism, expect more of the same. If it continues much longer, the USA will have permanent shanty towns from coast to coast like many other failed countries. Thanks.
He attempted to enter your home. He yanked hard on the handle. And most people dont understand they are just 1-2 kicks away from a home invasion. Should have pressed charges. Maybe he would learn from the punishment. Instead, this is likely to happen again. And if someone's teenage kid left the door unlocked by accident... the man will end up with holes in him. Press charges.
He seemed like a dementia case, or an elderly person off their meds, (something along those lines) Calling the police is one thing, right,, Pressing charges, and getting government involved, isn't always the right answer! For a few reasons, I mean You don't really think anybody actually "learns from their punishment" do you???😂 They come out worse. Not that this old man, or anybody for that matter, would be locked up behind bars, over a trespassing charge, not gonna happen, not even for a day. so he can come back, if he wants, either way. So pressing charges wouldn't stop that anyway. So your reasoning, and advice, - your whole comment actually.. it's complete nonsense.. Every situation is unique, and must be handled on a case by case basis. 🤡
This made me laugh. Just the way he describes him teleporting from south jersey. The fact the guy takes the cardboard, he really needed that csrdboard. Jesus.
Worst thing i ever experienced was my co detector going off at 2am. My wife says to me, “what do we do?” I’m like, “wake the kids and let’s go out side and call the fire department.” She’s like, “is that really necessary? Maybe we can reset it?” 🤦🏻♂️ At least she knew the phone number for 911.
Great outcome for a weird situation. You can tell he’s probably having some mental troubles or maybe the cold got his brain messed up but either way you have to always trust your gut these days. You did good by staying inside if he wasn’t trying to force his way in. He prob legit was cold and needed a place to sleep. With the mental healthcare or lack there of in the USA right now people are starting to see this become a lot more common. Also the housing crisis is putting people in hard times too so you never know when someone maybe just really needing a warm spot to crash but they’re too broke to pay for a hotel
I think you handled it about as well as you could've. Im never surprised by the cops lack of action. Unless its something major or it helps them with their metrics they wont take action.
When I’ve had to dial 911 I’ve been so flustered I couldn’t even get my phone to do it. I think sometimes your phone stops you from calling 911 even though you’re trying to.
German shepherd usually works wonders too. Don’t even need a door bell. Our house in south side Chicago was untouched when we had em, can’t say the same for our neighbors.
The reason why the police didn’t push it further with the guy was because you chose not to do anything. You’re the complainant and didn’t want anything done. Once you say you want him gone then there’s nothing more they can really do. They can’t detain him any further as there’s no arrest being made. They can identify him which sounds like they did but that’s about it. If you arrested him then it’s a different story.
Rob talking about how hes not happy with the police response when they got to his house in 6 minutes, which is fast, and that they "didn't take him in for questioning." Rob, you didn't press charges, so they have no reason to question him because he's not being prosecuted for anything.

now, forget it. there's people popping caps off in the park next door at 0 dark 30, and if there's a response 2 hours later that's fast.
I had a pair of local crackheads knock on my door just after midnight a while back. Without even thinking (not knowing who was there) I opened the door, which revealed these two guys, one with tattoos literally head to toe, face included. I wondered to myself, did I just open my door to a home invasion? Not the case at all. They let me know I had left the passenger door wide open on my work truck. It was like that for at least 5 hours since I hadn't gone back out after getting home from work. My wallet was in plain sight in the dash, all my tools in the back were still there. It was all visible from the sidewalk. They live two doors down, and were quite proud of themselves for doing the right thing as they patted themselves on the back while walking home. To look at them, I'd have bet good money they would take my stuff, not let me know to close my door.
Wow, I feel like People really should try their hardest, not to judge a book by its cover, especially these days, when people looking and dressing all kinds of different, weird, styles!!😆
Make them a nice pie or cake if you get a chance.
@@dannymitchell6131 Oh that is a terrible idea, you don't want to eat anything I bake! If they didn't constantly make a ton of noise and have giant fires all summer, I would have got them a little something.

Positive reinforcement works imo... that's my point.
I was probably just like them at one point myself...now I'm like you, tired with a car or two full of tools lol
@@dannymitchell6131 I think they were happy enough with my profuse thanking.
The one guy actually said to his buddy "See I told you we were doing a good thing!" as they walked off.
Today, Mr. Spaghetti explains how to express sympathy to non Italians...
He didn't give you much to work with did he?
@@dannymitchell6131 Lol nope.😆
He wasn't drunk? If he wasn't drunk, and not a silver alert, he must have been crazy. You did the right thing. This seems like a very New Jersey "Situation"
Can't have a silver alert if no one knew he was gone you know? 🤷♂🤦♂
They should cast that guy in the next reboot of Jersey Shore. He'll be known as The Awkward Situation
My dad had Alzheimer's, and we registered him for a Silver Alert tracking program from the Alzheimer's Association.
He wore a bracelet that had a phone number, his name, dob, and an id number.
On the reverse side it said "memory impaired".
We lived in NY, I'm sure NJ has something similar. I would think the police would have noticed that
I'm looking for a blanket, there's TWO right THERE????
Maybe he was cold and he wanted to go to jail rather than freeze so took his chances sleeping on the porch
today mr spaghetti tells us about the time he almost turned somebody into pasta sauce
Too many people think that all gun owners are gung-ho about shooting someone. This was the responsible way to handle the situation props for keeping a cool head and being human.
Looks like someone's trying to Rob Ferretti ... AGAIN
So glad you’re a good gun owner.
Appreciate the video. People need to understand.
Rob … you’re a blessing. The man has an about 5 lives left from his 9. Another person probably would not have been so kind.
The guy who liked to run from the cops now has to call them all the time lmao
Mr.Spaghetti almost becomes boss. This would’ve been a Sopranos moment that we’d all celebrate 🍻
Mess with Rob Spaghetti, get the Beretti! Glad everyone is safe.
When seconds count, cops are only minutes away...
New wall/fencing in the works all the way around the property now lol!
Next video!
In this episode, Rob Beretti tells us about his experience with some town bandits.
He would have been better off if you had passed charges, jail would have been warmer. That's probably what he wanted.
Drunk or dementia
Exactly, seemed a lot like dementia. All these gun nuts on here ready to blow away some dude that is probably confused and wandered away from his house.
Absolutely correct, the gun is a deterrent to the situation. Shows that you can defend yourself with lethal force, if necessary. You did the right thing for you and the family. But the police playing 20 questions while you're still in the situation? NOT cool! I'm a retired LEO, the rules were different when I was still on the job. Glad you and yours are fine!!!
..."wheres your kid" was your THIS IS SPARTA moment...
Robs totally the guy who has the most wild stories and you're like yeah right, that totally happened but it actually did, this guys life never has a dull moment
Yep, I had someone trying to open the doors of some of the cars around 3 am this morning
I think a lot of time when people do that to cars, they're actually trying to find one someone forgot to lock to steal out of it.
Perfect response to the situation. And I like your making it clear that a gun was used, but it was not fired. Then explaining why.
Should have told him, “if you don’t leave I’ll give you the crown Victoria dunk”.
Thanks for speaking so rationally about such a divisive topic.
In this episode Mr. Spaghetti almost gets all his meatballs stolen .
Always good to have a plan with your significant other. I have educated my girlfriend on the use of firearms and take her to practice frequently. We have known locations in the home with defense mechanisms and a plan for when we need to shelter in place, need to go, when someone is trying to break in, and when someone has broken in.
I live my life vicariously thru Rob😂😂😂 only problem is I have crazy things happen to me seemingly all the damn time!
I wonder if the guy had dementia🤔
The reason prone buy guns is not to hurt people, it’s for the peace of mind. Most times you will never need to use it, but having it will give you reassurance knowing you aren’t defenseless. And god forbid you do have to use it, you know you will be protected. Yall stay safe out there, you dealt with it the best possible way Rob!
Rob Spaghetti in a Ferretti Western
The way you spoke about handling the situation is EXACTLY how it should of been handled... 100%
Something to consider is you have a ring doorbell with 2 way communication. You may have been able to talk using that so you could have kept more than a glass door between you.
Thank you for having a normal response of a man
A battle avoided is a battle won. You handled that perfectly
Rob has such an isane life and the craziest shit happens to him. At least he is armed and prepared to take care of his family.
That was weird event. Seemed like the guy was on some drug or alcohol bender and the cops did not want to deal with him and sent him on his way.
We had a home invasion when I was probably 11 years old or something. Guy broke in the back door, mom woke up and grabbed a BB gun. Dad managed to shove him back out the door, and everybody stumbled around in the dark calling 911 and generally freaking out. It was just peachy.
If they are outside call the doughnut squad and avoid confrontation when possible....
Think this guy is poorly :( makes me sad that people live like this. I hope he got help and support. I hate seeing uneducated people say “shoot him”. As you said, this is someone’s son or dad. Thank you for being that responsible person and making good judgement.
Always REMEMBER,
When *Seconds Count* the *Police* are *Minutes Away!!!!*
If there’s ever a time when you’re faced with a situation that requires the help of
911/COPS, they will Not instantly appear, You’re gonna have to Deal with the situation By Yourself for at least Several Minutes!!
IF *YOU* HAVE A *GUN FOR SELF DEFENSE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE* *GO TO THE RANGE REGULARLY,* *PRACTICE YOUR DRAW,* *HOW TO CLEAR A JAM/FEED ISSUE etc,* *LEARN HOW TO LOAD/UNLOAD* *HOW TO DISASSEMBLE AND CLEAN YOUR GUN,* *TAKE A GUN SAFETY CLASS* & What Most People who only have a gun for home defense don’t think of, *HAVE A FIRST AID KIT WITH A TOURNIQUET AND CHEST SEALS IN CASE YOU’RE SHOT!!*
Time for a fence. You handle these situations well. I wish their were more people like you in the world.
Aren't you worried you will go crazy too?
He doesn't want to have to go to court for years over this incident
I am pro second amendment. My husband won't let me leave the house without my Sig 365. I had a guy that worked at a Belle Tire steal my personal information and started stalking and harrassing me. I learned quickly he was on parole and called his parole officer. The guy was just released 4 months prior for a CSC 13 and younger.
It was a scary situation. I think your wife should get some training on how to respond in these situations. What would she do if you were not home?
Warrior Poet Society talks about these scenarios in detail. Jon Lovell's wife talks about it also. She is trained on how to handle it because it is so important.
Rob is the man. Handled perfectly and a great case study for how to handle yourself in a tense situation.
The wife will let you spend some extra cash on a perimeter fence now lol
There are LOTS of other ways to deal with this scenario that don't involve killing someone.)
The US is creating the homeless and mental health crisis and this is the result: cold, homeless, mentally unstable people looking for shelter.
He seemed like a dementia case, or an elderly person off their meds, (something along those lines)
Calling the police is one thing, right,, Pressing charges, and getting government involved, isn't always the right answer!
🤡
When seconds count, the cops are minutes away.
8:20 major plot twist 😂 Is your fence made of spaghetti? 🫠
this was pre-wall and gate. But still wouldn't have prevented.
@@superspeeders I don’t know how the cop kept a straight face when you pointed out the two blankets ☠️. That was very kind of you to let him slide.

Homeless dude looking for a place to get some sleep nothing more.
I went through something very similar with “stranded” teenagers (old enough to drive) late at night, except I was approached while shoveling snow.
Cops should have asked the guy way more questions. Very weird they didn't seem to care
You did the right thing. Calm, rational, and good outcome.
In today's episode, Mr. Spaghetti explains why he almost had to spill an intruders marinara sauce all over his front porch.
Move away from that b.s .
always love seeing that shot of leroy at daytona in the intro
I think you handled that perfectly, Rob.
Glad your safe!
Rob talking about how hes not happy with the police response when they got to his house in 6 minutes, which is fast, and that they "didn't take him in for questioning." Rob, you didn't press charges, so they have no reason to question him because he's not being prosecuted for anything.
WELL SAID. Protect your family.
You were pretty calm. As you should be but I probably would’ve tried to interrogate him a bit lol
Rob must bait his house and shop! Always has interesting situations arising!
