My mother when she was young in the 50’s had a bobcat she raised. It was with her from the time she woke and came home from school. Never hurt anyone and was a big baby. 😸😊
Some bobcats carry the dependent trait dialed up, so those can really become sociable floofballs if socialized at the right time. Other bobs just don't carry it and are super wild.
I had a pet bobcat for nine, almost ten years. I rescued him from a concrete culvert at the start of a hurricane in Beaumont, Texas as the culvert was rapidly filling with water. I was about nine and his eyes were still not open yet. He never hurt our toy poodle, our domestic animals or any human. He was very social and loved meeting new people in our home. He had the run of our small acreage and didn't even try getting into the chicken coop. We had a toy poodle at the time and he was most deferential to her. She dominated him thoroughly. Great memories of walking "Cattycake" (baby brother named him) on a leash and people asking to pet him, in awe and amazement at how much he loved the attention. Probably not legal nor a good choice of a pet for most people (liability issues maybe?), but I treasure the experience and the memories, even after almost sixty years.
I loved hearing your story. I think there are a few scenarios only where the kinder thing is to keep a bobcat. I am glad you said this is not a great idea for most people. In many cases it’s cruel to domesticate a wild animal - most especially if you don’t have the space they need to run around. In your case you obviously did. They also came to you naturally as babies (you rescued them) so that’s an important distinction too. For people watching buying wild animals (especially to show off) is generally not in their best interest. Supporting wildlife rescue’s would be better. Again I think there can be a few naturally occurring exceptions that can happen like the story here. You saved their life ❤️

When I was an infant, my mum left me on the front lawn in a pram for a minute while she ran in to grab the phone (70s, Eastern Canada). She came to find a tabby cat curled up with me. She put up posters, etc. No responses, so she kept him. He just kept... growing... She had assumed he was an adult, but he was a kitten. He developed a few spots, tufts on his ears and very big feet with serious tufts between his toes. She took him to a vet, who said he was almost certainly half-bobcat, half-domestic-tabby. She decided to keep him, but gave him free access to the outside. He was not friendly to strangers, but he loved my family, and he adored me. I could pick him up, rub his tummy, etc. He slept with me every night until he died when I (and he) were 18yo. He was my first real experience of love. 30y later I still remember him. Thank you, Tufty.

@@Charlesinfinite You clearly don't know anything about Bobcats, the fact this kitten was out in the open like that says the mother either ditched it or was killed. A wild baby bobcat would only act like this if it's been a very long time since it saw its mother, it was clearly calling for her after it had left the den because the mother never came back, So yay the mom is dead. So they had a choice leave it there to die, get eaten or take it. Granted I do think they should have taken it to a wildlife rehab center but the Bobcat looks like its well taken care of and as long as they properly care for it I don't see a problem. Your entire remark was uneducated and rude.
We raised a full blooded Timber wolf. Everyone said we would be sorry, but she was the Best furbaby for. Almost 15 yrs. She thought our 2 grandkids were hers. Very protective. Ig i weren't 74 yrs old i would have another. Miss my Wolfy❤
My buddy rescued a bobcat kitten. It lived a spoiled life and then one day. It left... broke my bro's heart... he's 240lbs of ranch muscle. He still gets tears telling the story. Love is a powerful force... and it lingers...
as a farm kid we always had random wild animals as "pets" when we found them as babies and they always left when they grew up...i was always sad as a child but as I grew up I realized it was better that way as wild animals do not make good pets
Listen with your heart, she would not survive now in the wild, she only knows you and your family that she is also part of the family. Thank you for sharing she is just beautiful ❤❤❤
When you get them as kittys like he was they can be domesticated under the right circumstances and the right parents. This looks like it worked out great. I knew a family with a bobcat and he never tried to ever harm us. This was 30 plus yrs ago when i was a preteen. And judging by the comments its been done many times successfully before too! Thanks for saving and loving him bc he wouldnt have made it alone that young out there. ❤
You are completely wrong. First, you don't understand what domestication means. Humans needed hundreds of years and selective breeding to domesticate dogs. You're confusing taming for domesticating. You MAY have tamed a bobcat, but you'll never domesticate one. Secondly, bobcats and other exotic cats and animals are NOT pets. They're wild animals that people remove from their natural environment and POSSIBLY tame. But, the animals will still be wild and undomesticated.
That’s so amazing!!! What a gorgeous bobcat!!!! Thank you for taking care of that list little kitten when you found him/her…so many would have left him to fate. Thank you ❤
My heart melted when I saw him sleeping - I recently lost a cat that could be a double but quite a bit sneaker. He’s a beautiful well cared for animal that is endangered. Thank you to all those in animal care and rescue. Sometimes you have a day so hard that think you that you just can’t let another one in. But there they are giving us the unconditional love that we all NEED and DESERVE!!!!! Forever a (wild) cat lady.
Bobcats are NOT ENDANGERED!! I agree with most of what you said, however you need to not make such rash statements, about something being ENDANGERED when they most definitely ARE NOT!!
Just started ballingmy eyes out seeing him in the car, rescued, looking into your eyes with admiration and thankfulness, with his little face and paws hugging you.

Awwww. He’s snuggled right up in your arms. That look of” I’m gonna be ok now”. I would do the same thing for it. Precious baby and precious new parents. May you all live long lives together in happiness!!!😊
I love this bob kitty story so much. 💕💕💕
Wow, when it showed him grown-up, it gave me chills. What a beautiful cat!
Awhhh the love in the eyes, the comfy snuggle position, and the outstretched paw with the claws hooked into the shirt so that the snuggle is extra secure completely shows that the sweet baby not only desperately needed that love but they wanted it and to reciprocate it as well .
The way he looks up at her at first when he opens his eyes while she holds him on her lap....omg😢❤❤❤❤❤❤. "I sure luv you mama"....
Love is the only thing that allows us to understand each other across species. Thank you for your help. It was a very valuable experience. I'm jealous.
The love in his eyes looking up at her priceless ❤
I think this whole story is fabulous. More humans like this on Earth, please….❤
Yeeeaahhh, the fabulous.....❤❤
Amen!!
Sure lol ! Domestic wild animals! Enslave free , wild animals to feed your elitist whims! After all !! Living beings have no right to freedom! It’s all about serving human self interests! Right ?
Precious baby. So beautiful.
Traumhaftes Tier und danke für die Rettung ❤❤❤❤❤❤
You can see the contentment, trust, gratefulness and almost love already in this sweet bobcat kitten. How could you not save this beautiful baby....he/she was smart enough to seek help. Poor mom probably passed away. Thank you for saving this beautiful baby ❤
They both knew it was meant to be. Look how comfortable he looks. Love is in their eyes from the get go!!! ❤❤❤
@@Charlesinfinite You clearly don't know anything about Bobcats, the fact this kitten was out in the open like that says the mother either ditched it or was killed. A wild baby bobcat would only act like this if it's been a very long time since it saw its mother, it was clearly calling for her after it had left the den because the mother never came back,
So yay the mom is dead.
So they had a choice leave it there to die, get eaten or take it.
Granted I do think they should have taken it to a wildlife rehab center but the Bobcat looks like its well taken care of and as long as they properly care for it I don't see a problem.
Your entire remark was uneducated and rude.
Dios Bendiga a estos Sres. Por ❤!😊
We raised a full blooded Timber wolf. Everyone said we would be sorry, but she was the Best furbaby for. Almost 15 yrs. She thought our 2 grandkids were hers. Very protective. Ig i weren't 74 yrs old i would have another. Miss my Wolfy❤

Just seeing the bobcat cradled in her arms, looking up at her .. Gosh this broke my heart
Magnifique ce bébé Lynx. A voir quand il sera adulte s'il restera inoffensif ? C'est un très Bel animal. ❤❤❤
That's a fortunate gift from mother nature ❤
WHAT A BEAUTY !!! TAKE GREAT CARE OF IT, PLEASE !!! 🙏🙏🙏
A cat is a cat no matter how big they get.
To prove the point
Give a lion a box and watch what they do with it lol
@@Simon_Azrael_The_DoctorRaise a baby lion and I'm pretty sure it will not eat your whole family.
@@s.z.9517 unfortunately, I would not be able to have a lion in this climate that I live in
It is cold as hell here
Amen!!! They’re all just big kitties.
@@s.z.9517 it will eat your whole steak if you aren't looking.
My buddy rescued a bobcat kitten. It lived a spoiled life and then one day. It left... broke my bro's heart... he's 240lbs of ranch muscle. He still gets tears telling the story.
Love is a powerful force... and it lingers...
Love Ur comment bro ❤
Love is the most powerful of all. 😽😻👍🙏🏻😇😇😇🙏🙏🏼🙏🏾🙏🏿🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🐆🐅
as a farm kid we always had random wild animals as "pets" when we found them as babies and they always left when they grew up...i was always sad as a child but as I grew up I realized it was better that way as wild animals do not make good pets
It is possible he got lost no?
eaten at the local chinese buffet, trust me @@dabrenajohnson5142
Listen with your heart, she would not survive now in the wild, she only knows you and your family that she is also part of the family. Thank you for sharing she is just beautiful ❤❤❤
Super cute!🥰❤️
When you get them as kittys like he was they can be domesticated under the right circumstances and the right parents. This looks like it worked out great. I knew a family with a bobcat and he never tried to ever harm us. This was 30 plus yrs ago when i was a preteen. And judging by the comments its been done many times successfully before too!
Thanks for saving and loving him bc he wouldnt have made it alone that young out there. ❤
Please note the difference between domestication(ok around humans in general) and tamed(ok with 1 or few people that they grew up with)
You are completely wrong.
Bobcats are known to be trustworthy as a domestic animal.
Absolutely amazing. He lost his mom, but found his family.

She's absolutely gorgeous! Bless your soul for saving this beautiful cat!
He's gorgeous!!!!❤
Love knows no species, no boundaries, just compassion. This proves it. IMO
Боже, какое счастье, что вы ему встретились❤❤❤❤
Cutte. Chita. I. Love. Chita. Yuo
Just started ballingmy eyes out seeing him in the car, rescued, looking into your eyes with admiration and thankfulness, with his little face and paws hugging you.
Thank you, on behalf of all orphaned animals! So glad he or she is with you!❤

What about a father ?? Yep, you’re definitely a cat lady :
don't tell the democrats that. they think all babies should be aborted and put on gender bending hormones.
