EPIPHONE CASINO COUPE: THE RED LEMON!

- Sadly, this gorgeous Casino Coupé, is a lemon guitar!
I was wondering WHY it had a compensated nut in the 1st place, and even after a set up and restring could still not get it fully intonated!
Turns out some1 @ Epiphone in Corona Country, must have reset 1 of the routing machines and several fret boards were slotted incorrectly! INSTEAD of discarding the inaccurately cut slots, they were used anyway! (Near enough, good enough! NOT!)
Once the frets were in, it was TOO late! Sadly, the guitar PASSED QC!
Shame, because the rest of it is beautiful! BUT, Neal, my luthier told me to flip it. And not to waste money fixing it! It still plays ok, and is fine if played on its own! It is still good enough for a beginner or home player!
So I will take a hit on it and sell it for $200 less than I paid!
In all my years of buying & selling guitars and basses, (many that were cheapies!) I never had 1 that was fretted incorrectly! On a few $100 guitar, I could understand it, even though it is still unacceptable!
But for a $1200 guitar, this is TOTALLY unacceptable!
I will contact the AU distributor and let them know that there are some models out there with inaccurate fret placement!

******* Just an update on this guitar folks. After filing a new bone nut, and properly placed, along with a better, roller saddle bridge that has greater travel, we have gotten it almost perfectly in tune! The 1st owner added the compensated nut, which made it worse! It was placed incorrectly, a mm or 2 from the end of the fret board, and glued on with TITE BOND of all things! Total idiot!
Anyway the nut was just a rough 1 to see how close to in tune we could get it. Most of the neck now plays with spot on tuning all the way up the neck!
A better filed and spaced nut will get it even closer. The worst it is out now is a few cents! You can't hear any less than about 5 cents deviation! It sounds IN tune with another guitar! So it seems like it may NOT be a loss after all! *******
Glad to hear it, that would have been such a shame if it were totally unusable. Still, makes me wonder about what kind of people work in these factories where they're made. Let me guess: this was NOT a Korean production, was it?
@@kosmoshice3148 Just shoddy QC mate!
No, this was an 'Handcrafted in China by Epiphone', jobbie!
It's playable now, but I will sell it when I can. My repairer/builder will make me a BETTER replica for ~ the same $ I paid for it, & do it from a hollowed OUT body, instead of pressed laminate. He does do, hand carved top and back but he charges $Ks for that! But for a hollowed out body he'll make me 1 for ~$600!
Glad it turned out okay. I was about to ask if you were considering getting it refretted, given it might have been equal to the cost of the instrument.
@@RobotShlomo I HAD considered it, but it wasn't worth it!
Once I put a better bridge on & and got a new bone nut put on it, it was almost right! So I sold it on!
And people wanna dog Gibson. Damn that’s some bad QC. I have never known of this happening. 🧐
ME either hun! Still, not MUCH I can really DO about it!
Damn, I'm bummed out about this!
Yup!
OUCH!
It hurts! (Just LIKE anal without lube!)
@@DMSProduktions Baby! Anal love really hurts without lube, but it's breakin' my arse so what can I do without lube!
@@ace69er ;oP
Bugger!
Bugger indeed 650!
Beautiful
Thanks, but it hasn't been cooperative!
Well, you WON'T be strumming this red beauty on the river bank any time soon! :o(
No!
Beautiful guitar 🎸 🎶 🔥
Thanks.
@@DMSProduktions 👌 man! 🙂 💫 👍 Rock on! 🎸
Nice GuiTAR Epiphone
It was!
I have the stock Lennon type colour one and I love it.
Ok good! I have since moved it on! I WANTED to love it, it WAS nice to play, comfortable size, but the faulty fretting & wide, D shaped neck wasn't as nice in my hands once I'd had a chance to play it a bit!
How sad! I have my dad's old acoustic Epiphone Cabellero from 1963. I love hearing it played although the action is much too hard for me.
We got to about 97%, so i sold it! Was good enough, but i also coudn't bond with the neck, too wide across the fret board!
Nice video
Aw that sux man so what happened? Thanks for your sub 2 btw😁
Yeah, just bad luck! But we have gotten it more in tune with a new nut and a better bridge!
lemon guitar? Is this a bad guitar? I am not a native english speaker btw
LOL! Just like a car! Lemon = defective!
@@DMSProduktions Actually I like lemons if they are not combined with cars or guitars lol -thanks for the translation.
@@2009framat DON'T we all? My commentary easily explains it! You DID watch it right>?
@@DMSProduktions I watched it but I was not sure what the correct translation was. I have to admid I only understood that something was wong with the instrument but still do not know what was especially wrong with it.
@@2009framat As I stated, the frets were installed incorrectly!
to bad ... beautiful but crazy ... my blond one is little less crazy ...👍
Ok, good to hear!
Shit. what a bummer.
YUP!
That's truly disappointing!
Yep!
Why do people add dumb modifications to a perfectly good guitar? Maybe the previous owner was into just intonation? Don't laugh, I have a good friend that is. :)
Huh? No, If you had actually watched, I explained why it won't play perfectly in tune! The prev owners mods was an attempt in fixing what was manufactured WRONG in the 1st place and only made it worse!
@@DMSProduktions It was a joke, dude. :)
@@josephtravers777 AH! Appreciated! You know what people like to do around these parts!
