You get huge debts if you don't disband the army, untill you invested a lot, got a port and took ascension island. Then it takes some time to grow but you can fet strong but it is hard. It is 2055 now and Saint Helena owns Siant Helena, Ascension Island, Southern Angola, parts of Zambia, parts of Botswana and Northern Namibia. It's still poor and it will most likely take a long time to grow.

I have question for you. I started playing Turkey and I wanted to form a Ottoman Empire. When I've already claimed about half of grounds that I needed I lost an option to form Ottoman Empire (the button just disappeared). Could it be caused by changing a type of a goverment (to fascism in my case)?
I have the same problem, I made an alternative empire that Sweden can form. My Sweden was communist, but when I changed it to anything I still couldn't form it , like the button wasn't there

If you dont havr enought points to taje every province, just make the countries you invaded a vassal, and then you can send them insults until their relations with you gets to -10 or higher and then you can annex them
I literally tried this and once I got switzerland and austria I got invaded by Hungary, France, Germany, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Egypt and Russia. I rq'ed the game for 3 days
