Even though it is great for teachers to use this song to teach technique ) Italian works great for that! But...I honestly hope this gets to a point where you really study the meaning of the text and understand how Italians speak, emphasis on the infliction points of Italian text - Thanks for sharing

alex, may i make a suggestion? when you rehearse, stand on your heals and brace through your back. without a solid base, moving to and fro and not feeling the weigh between your legs, youre not setting up the mechaniszm. also, pulling on your jaw creates tension in your mandibular musculature. watch a few of thomas hampson masters classes at the manhattan school of music and notice how he helps singers to achieve with the jaw placement -- what youre striving for.

"have your hand there to flare your lips" ... not to flare the lips BUT to keep the back of the jaw in its place. Maybe the student tends to push the jaw out which is not advisable. "drinking the sound" ... 100% fine if the thinking is directed to the back and the back of the neck - the get the back muscles involved. And it is particular good imaginary exercise to stop directing the sound into the nose. With regards. Dome
