Will LS Droid work with a J2534? I have a J2534 that i have been using with PCM Hammer and has been working very well. Id like to try LS Droid but dont want to buy another adapter module.
Now with LS droid you need to use Pete's tool that he sells for it. The OBDlinks still work with PCMhammer but not ls droid because Pete dropped support for them.
I know you said you were going to come back to this to teach people about upping the line pressure for the trans and going over fan control. IS this something you already did and i cant find it or is it something that you ended up not doing?

so i got this 2003 truck 5.3 LS with no manifold, starter or ecu or alternator or sparkplug wires. . it had 160,000 on and he wanted 300 but i only gave him 200 until he comes up with some or all of those parts especially ecu SO MY QUESTION IS; can i use say a 2006 5.3 LS ecu with my 2003 engine? this guy with one for sale says it has "vats deleted 60 pound injectors mild boost start up tune." for 300 cdn or about 240 usd will this TUNE be worthless to me w/0 bigger injectors? how much should i pay for just any old compatible ecu that i still need a tune for?
if you use a 2006 harness with it you will be fine. there are plenty of people who sell the PCMs cheaper than that and its really easy to do that tune yourself.
So the pcm I'm using is out of a 98 Tahoe that had a vortec engine and when I read it it says it's "PCM unlock failed trying again in 3 seconds" is there a way to unlock?
You can use it with PCM hammer but not ls droid. I mean if you buy Pete's dongle he sells you can use it with the windows version of ls droid but that only supports that one dongle
ok, so if i have a desktop windows 10 computer that has bluetooth, i should be able to skip the steps involving the android phone correct? read and write with the computer and im done.
You can with pcm hammer. If you have an obdx pro you can use the new windows version of ls droid but It doesn't support any of the other dongles. But like I said pcm hammer works on the PC and supports other dongles. I have a video on pcm hammer.
@@FixedUntilBroken haha, ya i just finished looking at that. it reads my pcm alright but apparently now i need to find a similar BIN file and remove vats and enable fans on it if its not already done, then import that BIN into pc hammer and not sure which of the 2 options to choose to write to my pcm as im back in linux now.?
Idk what I am doing wrong. I downloaded the matching xdf and bin. When I try to save as it in tunerpro rt I get a checksum error. this is for an ls swap 99-02 pcm.
What's the name of the app u downloaded for that particular obd link lx model the green thing u just have connected? I have an android phone will it work? What about buying a cheaper one will it do the same or whats special about this one and why does it differ from the other cheaper ones?
I normally don't do it as a service for the these but if you want to send it in shoot an email. You can find it on the about section of the channel if your on a PC
OSID ≠ HWD. XDFs are found on forums and github. Sometimes you won't be able to find a XDF for your OSID. If that is the case you may have to flash a supported OS on your PCM.
Thanks for posting this. I can't seem to get tunnerpro to work. I get checksum error when saving bins. Tried 3 versions of tunnerpro. Same error re-saving virgin file no changes. Thanks
Yes. I'd have to look into it some more to give a confident answer on how to do it but it's supported. It's not like hp tuners where it does the math for you though. You have to to do the math and then set the pulse of I understand it correctly. Like I said I'd have to look into that more but I know it is there.

Mostly that GitHub I mentioned that belongs to NSFW (boredtruckowner). I haven't had issues with gearhead efi before not sure what's going for you there. Edit.. my bad I mentioned that github on my latest video not this one.
No prob. I know I've seen people have issues with downloading on their forum I can remember if it was a post on gearhead efi or pcmhacking that was talking about that. It was while ago when I saw it.
@@FirstLast-tx3yj yes it's also becoming cross platform also. Now it's going to take a lot of work to make tuning actually happen on E38 ecms but being able to read/write will really speed up people getting involved in reverse engineering the firmware.
@@FirstLast-tx3yj yes you can tune everything on p01 and p59. I don't do anything like that myself but it's completely possible. I only got into this because of working on circuit boards I'm not an actual tuner
There is not an xdf for every os but you don't need one for every is you can just flash a different os. They are easy to find though. Get on gear head efi or pcm hacker forums and use the search feature. If you osid doesn't come search or ask for a comparable os to replace it with.
Fixed Until Broken OS 9381344, 4.8 before every using this stuff I had injector pulse for a second while cranking for my swap. That was the stock ecm of course. I’ve tried and tried and every attempt yields the same result, no injector pulse. I’ve found an xdf file that is supposed to work with this ecm/os I just don’t know anymore. For me this has been a gigantic waste of $50. Assuming theirs human error played here I am now attempting clone the ecm with the current tuner pro edit which only consist of vats set to “2” or disabled rather. Prior to this it would Give me an error when actually hitting calibration so I would hit write new os+cal using my file edit
that's one of the 0411 512k PCMs right so like a 99-02? or is it a 896 I don't have any experience with those. I haven't seen an XDF for that OSID but I haven't messed with that OSid you have. I'd recommend trying another OS thats more widely supported and like 12202088 if its a 0411. This is sounding like you are having issues with the XDF you are using and not an issue with LSdriod or Tunerpro. I would recommend hitting up LS1tech or Gearhead EFI. not sure what error your getting though you would have to give more details.
Fixed Until Broken I think the issue comes down to I had either the transmission type changed when I shouldn’t have or I had to clone my bin file that I edited to only have vats off and no others stuff changed, after borking the ecm up or something weird. So I have three things now... fuel spark and a dead starter :-(
You could just put the 5speed os on it. But I've never looked into tuning out the transmission. Most people want to replace their th350s with 4l80/4l60. Why wouldn't you want overdrive haha.
You are going to need an electronic VSS from the TH350 so the PCM knows how fast it is going. helps it make decisions on E fans and IAC if I remember correctly. Me personally Id sell the rebuilt TH350 and pick up a 4L60 or 4l80 if this is a street car you are building but that just IMO. OD and EFI go great together. I mean keeping the TH350 is like throwing a carb on a LS... You can do it but it doesn't mean you should.

I just had this same problem... I literally figured it out... I used the 088 xdf and bin... and used tuner pro rt...
Make sure you put the plug-in in the folder in documents/tuner pro

Ls druid dropped support for obdlinks in the new version. Pcm hammer supports it though.

So the xdf file need to be the same for my PCM right? So I have a PCM ending in 411 so where do I find the xdf for my PCM.

will this thing turn off torque management so you have max tq available whenever you mash the gas?
anything that's been defined in the XDF you use can be adjusted.

what if i went from a 5.3 to a 6.0? when i change engine type will all the spark/fuel tables have to be modified?
Yes and you should be able to find 6.0 bins for what ever is you have making that very little work to do

Yeah you can do more and its a one time fee for the tool. Software is free. so if your friends need help you are ready.

@@thegxpguy i would upgrade to the 2002 os 12212156. way more support and there is tunerpro xdf out for it. my opinion.

How would I disable the trans since I'm running a TH350? I haven't purchased the OBD LX yet so I haven't had a chance to mess with this yet.

@@frankvaldez8873 pretty much. You should check online and make sure the bin you are planning to use won't brick the PCM
