This just goes to show you how much Ashley has contributed to BVB. Look it up; known public girlfriends literally had to escape, put out warnings online (they never once sued to tried to get money out of him or get into TMZ/etc, and there were a few other "incidents" with him on tours with some much younger ladies (teens). The other guys (Andy, in a fully committed relationship since he was 19 with Juliet Simms, now his wife & life partner) just said, "NOPE we're not going there, dude, leave willingly & as a *mutual decision* or we're sacking you, announcing it publicly,and you can deal with the fallout." Ashley left. Quickly. Immediately. Just because Ashley says it doesn't make it true. Andy WAS the true creator of BVB & worked his as off for years at perfecting it. If you go on Wikipedia, the number of people that came & went in the band history, it's kinda stunning ... but the one person, the creator, he stayed. Ashley is probably blowing smoke up everyone's asses trying to salvage whatever he can, given when this video was uploaded... Ashley was NOT the influence for keeping the BVB name ...the whole reason was "The BVB Army" --- not only showing up in sold-out crowds in the small venues, but also selling them out & STILL lining up for blocks, just in case people didn't show up, then also the BVB Army demanding they get booked on various tours & played on harder rock radio stations & on streaming services. Ashley had nowhere near the talent as the guitarist that was classically trained & brought his seriously-trained musical theory, cello & violin to the music in addition to the guitar he excelled at. They've had MANY years of "future" since Ashley left. Have had several successful tours, solo projects & other collabs. The slowing of the ours, etc is NOT because A left ... it's because they're ALL growing as humans & growing up & making their own family/home lives, which they never had back in the height of (In the End/ Warped Tours, etc)from when Andy was 16/17 until her married Juliet. I'm sure the other guys are finding their true grown-up lives, too. I hope Ashley got some help in the mental health area about how to treat women & create & maintain healthy relationships. (1 report is eh, 2 reports, is oh yeah, some smoke there , 3 & more is "holy hell look at the grass fire".) I'm not a "fan" in the "OMG BVB I wanna marry them" age ... I'm probably about the same age as Andy's parents & once I saw them live & that it was just really good rock music, not the super Emo/screamo that I was expecting when I took my kiddo to the show ... I've listened & watched, and yeah they are a massively talented bunch. But Ashley taking credit for BVB existing?? I don' think so. That's waaayyyy too farfetched for anyone to swallow in a "hook, line & sinker" fashion! Life moves FORWARD, & continues to change & evolve. They parted ways with Ashley, for good reason - Andy for sure didn't work that hard aaaallll those years to have the rug torn out from out from under him, NOR did the other guys. Again, I HOPE Ashley got help. I hope he has learned how to have a grown-up relationship/commitment. I wish him every happiness. But the words in this video?? They are total BS. Cheers! Seeing this just made Ashley my favourite member of the band because as an aspiring musician I think about this kind of thing all the time (marketing, image, branding etc) and most people think that's awful to think about cause "it should be all about the music". Like, yeah the music needs to be good of course, but you need to really sell yourself to make it in this industry, regardless of how much you hate to admit it. I feel SO much better and less like a corporate suit asshole for focusing on this stuff knowing someone from my favourite band pays attention to those things too. Ashley, you fucking rock.
It is important to think about those sort of things. Like, you can't just put a band together overnight. It takes time. And this is one of my fave bands too :D
The thing about having an identifiable logo is so smart!! Actually, the BVB logo is drawn on the bathroom walls of my old highschool. And I was talking to someone a few weeks ago who still goes to that school (I was wearing a BVB bracelet) and they saw my bracelet and said "hey, that's on the walls of the school bathroom!" The BVB logo is incredibly recognizable!

I only discovered BVB's music one month ago and I'm slowly learning more about each of the five band members. Every member brings something awesome that in combination makes Black Veil Brides an amazing band. I myself was a business administration major in college...my major required business electives so I took all together four marketing classes. Marketing classes aren't only applicable to business aspect. You're always marketing yourself in both professional and personal settings. I enjoy hearing each of the band members talk about journey into the music industry before joining Black Veil Brides. All five members have a beautiful friendship.

@Angel Martinez I'll tell you what Ash has done for this band! His design and business skills helped spread the word about BVB in its early days. He played the bass for every one of their live concerts, not to mention Legion of the Black, for as long as he was in the band! He did the backing vocals for songs such as Days Are Numbered and Heart of Fire. He brought his own special spirit to the band's music and dynamic. Most importantly, he's shown love and support to who knows how many kids who didn't feel loved or important anywhere else. He's stood up to bullies and encouraged dozens of fans, including myself, for years. How can you say he's done nothing for the band when he has gone above and beyond as a member of their team?

Wow, this really opens a lot of doors of understanding for everyone. He's imaged as the goofball in the group, and isn't always taken seriously, but he really boosted BVB. They wouldn't even be called that without him, or maybe would have plummeted all together. This guy needs more credit.
I was really impressed with how articulate and smart Ashley Purdy is in this video interview. In addition to being a talented artist/performer he seems to have clear vision of what he wants to accomplish in life. You rock Ashley Purdy!!
