Read node file expression to link to Write node:
    [value WriteNodeName.file]
    Proxy Write node file expression:
    [file dirname [value [topnode].file]]/proxy/[lindex [split [lindex [split [value [topnode].file] .] 0] /] end]_proxy.mov
Write path from Nuke script path:
    [file dirname [value root.name]]/render/comp_name_v01.%04d.exr

Have you done one for automatically reallying relative file paths when sharing data structures?

I find relative addressing unreliable and always resort to switching to full file paths. For that there is a built in tool in the edit menu to find and replace text in the read nodes file knob: Edit > Node > Filename > Search and Replace...
Although, I once had a script where I set a global filepath that was editable and would insert at the beginning of every read node via expression... which I think is what you mean? But I can't remember if that was an enjoyable or painful way to work

    Hi Harry,
hope you are doing well! Will you do more Natron videos in the future?

Hello, I'm still trying to figure out going back and forth between video editor and Natron (for more extensive compositing). I already have mov proxies (of my Tiff image sequences) from the video editor, would I be able to use them directly in Natron?

You should be able to… but you’ll lose quality if you do that. I’d recommend using the original tiffs to get the best quality.

@@HarryChrispI've concluded that I'm having problems playing my videos & images when I try to use any proxy codec with alpha in my video editor! So I'll see if I can just use TIFF sequence in v. editor as well. Does Natron allow use of the graphics card open GL or CLI for smoother playback or faster rendering? (My graphics card is way more recent than my system). Also is the later versions of Natron less buggy when exporting/write?

@@streamsandgalaxies don’t expect to be able to playback in Natron, it’s not an editor it’s a compositor and those aren’t designed primarily for playback. You can export from Natron without an alpha if that helps. I can’t speak to the stability of Natron versions but one would hope it only gets better
