Sydnie doesn't sing a song, she becomes the song, and the song becomes her. That's why it feels so personal. Inspirational!

For the first time in my life, I completely understand the meaning and the story behind this song. Sydnie's singing brings out the pathos and emotion of the story in the words from Annie - the loneliness and sadness always waiting/hoping for a better day tomorrow. I found it impossible to be detached from her singing and was completely caught up in her expression of this heartfelt interpretation that so beautifully captures its meaning.

As an aging singer and still not getting my break, it is refreshing to see that there are people out there with a talent that can overcome even the staunchest (Simon) of critics. This performance was one of the best I have ever seen doing this particular song. She made it hers and when she went up high there towards the end her voice was crisp and her clarity was amazing. If anyone has ever deserved a golden buzzer it was Syndie. I hope that I can get a look at her performance at the Royal Variety. Her versions of My Way and Somewhere Over the Rainbow were even better than this performance and she reaslly did stand head and shoulders above the rest of those who made it into the final round.

First of all, thank you for your unbroken playback of the artist's performance. Very rare. When Sydnie took the stage, she had me. Her effervescent personality, the humorous banter with the judges. But, when the music began she was all serious - in a great way. Her facial moves, her clarity and the range of her voice was breathtaking! Then, she got the comments and responded appropriately...then, the golden buzzer. I thought, for a second, we had lost her when she went down. She turned into a child in a candy store, or a child who just received a pony. Unbelievable raw and unpretentious reaction. The irony was the buffer music was Loren Allred singing "Over The Rainbow," which is the version Sydnie chose for her finale. I suppose you know the outcome of the show. She earned and deserved all the comments offered, and then some. Beautiful!

Your the first one to notice that. I kept thinking the same thing and wondered why they didn't point this out upon review of song. I like that she changes up her songs to fit her style and always positive. For example where it says "it's only a day away"to it's always a day away. Also in her semi-final I guess it is a Frank Sinatra She turned it from him to her. So while she uses songs she puts a twist to them to actually own them, I thought that was very clever to do when I heard it in My Way. I had gone back to listen to this performance once again and I noticed about how she says it's always a day away. I've not yet seen anybody incorporate that into their performances not once but twice but three times. She raps to. She has a homemade video doing it.

There is an undertone of despair in the song "Tomorrow" that is glossed over in original Broadway score. In this arrangement and Sydnie's performance that despair rides much closer to the surface especially with the way she ends.

Really, so far I choose to believe that you are the best vocal coach that I've heard critique a singing artist. I can say that as you were talking I was shelling Pistachio nuts with a teaspoon. But during your sweet critique of Sydnie Christmas you yourself sang a beautiful note that sounded so loud and so pure like it was coming out of deep water, your beautiful tone of that note you sang out made me stop shelling my yummy Pistachios and look up at you and I thought, "What!!!??" Holy-cow, please don't stop, please sing some more!!! My gosh that note of yours is still reverberating in my ears even now. Truly, you must be a wonderful lady to be sure. Excellent synopsis. BTW, Sidney brought you to tears...you are not alone. I also learned she has HUGE issue with stage fright. To the point of dry heaving.
I was also amazed that you caught the breathing part and it being tenseness. Never had I heard that quite how you described it. That is exactly the type of thing body language experts look for. Bravo on your evaluation. Sidney needs to always be Sidney and not change. Love to see your critiques of the semifinals in the finals where she won it all.

Adding to my previous comment from 3 weeks ago. Dounia, I was pretty amazed at the reference to Delta Goodrem. Before Sydnie hit the stage, Delta had my ear more than any other female singer. Then came Loren Allred, I don't think that Loren has the stage presence that Delta does, but comparable voices. Then Sydnie comes along and blows them all away. Thank you for you honest and real reaction. Ill be coming back!

@@heatherlea6825 Of course the next two performances will have been heavily affected bythe coaching she got after this audition, from BGT and others, grooming her for greater things. This original audition is Sydnie at her most natural, and all the vocal coaches in the world will only take away from that, trying to put their own stamp on her. But it was Sydnie alone who scored a golden buzzer, and she alone deserves all the credit. Dounia here, herself a vocal coach, had to wipe away a tear during the original, and that tells me all I need to know.

I happened to come across your podcast, and because I was just blown away by Sydnie from her first audition through her final song, I watched your podcast for Tomorrow. I felt while watching your reactions like I was looking at myself in the mirror because our reactions were exactly the same, and I said many of the same things you did. I, then, of course, watched the next 2 podcasts of yours. I was emotionally drained after watching all of each podcast. I knew from that her audition that she was something special. It is even hard for me to listen to a lot of singers now that I have heard her. She's lucky to have you as her vocal coach. I am hoping ALL the songs she does follow the same kind of songs she sang on BGT. Too often I have really liked a singer on AGT or BGT and planned to buy her albums only to not care for the types of songs on it and/or just don't capture how she sounded on on AGT or BGT. There are so many songs that she could transform into what she's done. God bless you.

Thank you for sharing your delight with Sydnie Christmas now you've found out about her audition: she certainly had vocal training for the next song, "My Way," with the coach who worked with her at the BGT. She said, on the breakfast TV afterwards (that is also on youtube, still), that her vocal studies after high school were perfected by this coach.
This tune Sydnie adapted very well from the cover of Marisha Wallace, from 4 years ago during the lockdown, in London: Marisha is now also a fan of Sydnie. The background "Over the Rainbow" during the applause in this video, is by Loren Allred, of "Never Enough": Loren had to persuade Sydnie, with a video message, to adapt this cover for her own song in the BGT final. Afterwards, Loren called it "our" song.
For ten years Sydnie had been trying to find work in London's West End, without any luck, though she did find a bit of other work, abroad. This BGT was her last try to establish her career.
Please look at her other two songs as soon as you can!

@@DouniaRaphael Are you sure you are from Lebanon? You look like an Arab princess, but with some blood from Kurdistan. In any case, I enjoy the fact that you both listen with your ears and a lot with your eyes, these cannot be fooled in any way. They are beautiful too. Hugs Delle in Sweden

Great job Dounia. I love the fact that you had the respect to watch the video all the way through without pausing and commenting. 'My Way' was my fav song Sydney sang in the semi final. Thank you❤

You are the best vocal coach because you listen.....you don't talk so much. You are not dramatic. Your emotions are very clear without hitting us over the head with a hammer. The only channel i have subscribed to.

Thank you Dounia for not stopping the performance and giving your opinio, like others I’ve watched in the past, you allowed the moment to endure our thoughts, of your admiration of the moment! 🙏 for that, I’ve subscribed!

Thank you! I really appreciate you allow the artist to complete their performance without the constant interruptions so many other reaction reviewers deem necessary. I don't believe we can't appreciate the fullness of a performance without hearing it without interruptions.
