    Great video! Sounds like pigs are actually worth farming in FS25. Did you mention what economy setting you were using?

      Hello Andre, So glad you enjoyed it. Pigs are definately worth doing in FS25 even if you buy the pig feed as it is currently only $1000 for 1000L. I think this will be adjusted in an update as this seems very low. I didn't explain it in the video but I was on Normal Economy. I don't think though that the Economy setting changes the prices in the store for goods or the sales prices of animals. I could be wrong about that though. I hope you have a fantastic day and take care!

      Thanks for the reply! I asked about the economy setting because in FS 22 on the easy setting you made more money selling the crops instead of feeding them to your pigs - because the crops were worth more. If you played on hard difficulty the meat animals (and animals in general) were comparatively more profitable because their value remained the same.

      No problem. That makes sense. That was another reason why I focus so heavily on purchasing items from the store to show that even if you buy the items it will get to a point of profitability. Then if the player chose to use the products then the price would only go up from there. Hope you have a fantastic day and take care!

      @@andrerodon3921 I did an experiment. On easy economy using corn, barley, canola, and sugar beets I could make pig food for $1499 per thousand liters. On normal it came to $899. On hard it was $499. I did see someone suggest that carrots might be better than sugar beets. The problem is getting the ratio just right. Until someone comes out with a mod that lets you mix by the shovel full instead of by the trailer, it is going to be hard to get it just right. I did find a mod for a pig feed mixer, but again it would only be practical on hard economy.

    Well, you don’t buy pig food you give them corn and barley. That’s the pig food. You can give them canola for protein a couple of times a week and you’re completely covered.

      Hello JMF Aquatics, You are correct. You can give them just Corn and Barley. I covered this in my "How To | Care for Pigs" video. The point of this video was to show how to get maximum profit and the only problem with giving them Corn and Barley is that they will not reach their maximum potential price as quickly as if you used Pig Feed. You can simulate pig feed by putting in the Corn, Barley, and Canola like you mentioned before as long as you pair it with a root crop like Sugar Beets/Potatoes. This will give them 100% production and allow them to reach their maximum potential price at the fastest rate. I hope you have a fantastic day and take care!

      @@bddgaming9838 There is a problem with mixing your own food. If you play on easy economy, you can sell the crops for more than what a bag of pig food costs. If you play on standard economy the crops and the bag food, come pretty close together but you still have the problem of getting the ratios exact. Only on hard economy does the difference between grown food and purchased bags become interesting.

      Hello Jim, all my testing for these videos are done on normal economy and there can be other factors like the less difficult economy that could throw these calculations off. The videos intent is to show what can be gotten from doing pigs rather than to try and encompass all external factors to affect final costs. I hope you have a fantastic day and take care!

      @@bddgaming9838 Thanks, I wasn't sure if I was going to try pigs or not. Your video helped me decide to give it a try. Not sure if I will do it on my current map or not, but definitely someday.

    I always do buy 1/10th space of my pen of 0 year old pigs each month till they reproduce. Then sell the 9 month old ones every month after that. Not sure if that’s the best way to go though.

    • @bddgaming9838
      @bddgaming9838  12 дней назад +1

      Hello Joel, Based on what I found selling them that early they will not be at their highest possible value but you will eventually turn a profit regardless through the iterations. I do like the idea of it though because it gets to a point where you are able to just sell the oldest batch every month rather than having to focus so heavily on the animal screen to find when they are at their high point. Hope you have a fantastic day and take care!

    I haven't got into animals yet. Does the animal menu display their age in months? What if I have pigs of different ages in the same pen?

    • @bddgaming9838
      @bddgaming9838  24 дня назад

      Hello GamerKatz, Yes, the animal menu will display the age in months. If you have different aged pigs in the same pen then they will be grouped in the menu in their own grouping. The same will happen if you have different breeds. So for example, if you have 10 pigs that are 1 month old and 10 pigs that are 12 months old. Each of the unique combinations will have their own grouping in the animal menu screen. I hope this helps and when you do get into animals that you have a blast with it. Have a fantastic day and take care!
