    Good optics. Nothing in the report about the substance of Germany's participation in the air exercise though. America greatly values German partners in our collective defense.

      Trump mindlessly parroted this stance taken by numerous politicians, generals and think tanks for years, don't make the mistake to portray Donald as a great geopolitical thinker or even an adult man in control of a functioning normal brain.

    All the Countries that depend on the USA for protection need to increase their own abilities for self defense. The US simply cannot continue providing $s and manpower; as is unable to militarily protect it's homeland....

      Years ago I’d have agreed, but it’s not an actual problem anymore - most nations already increased the budget and built up. 6-7 years ago it was sth different, although you have to keep in mind that a not small part of the reasons, that more men and money was needed, were to support US foreign politics and the conflicts the US chose. Don’t get me wrong, the US is our ally and there are many common grounds - it’s not meant as US bashing. 🇩🇪🤝🏻🇺🇸

    All NATO partners need to ensure their commitments to NATO are met AND be in a position to respond to future challenges as they occur.

    Don't bring your NATO to South China Sea..
    It's a PLA Navy pond.
    You will live to regret this bad mistake.

    Boris Pistorius is a capable and likeable politician. Europe needs more deft politicians in the defense minister posts and needs to give them more "strategic autonomy", especially against the European Finance Ministers.
    Europe is only going to.conduct "presence", Freedom of Nav. and cyber defense missions in the indo-pacific however. They always have a trade aspect. They wish to get closer to traditional American allies like Japan and Australia but will never risk real skin in the game like providing article five treaty guarantees. Boris Pistorius aside, Europe yet again isnt serious.

    Good interviewer.
    Pity Pistorius thinks the US colonial Rules Based Order is worth presenting to "everyone in the theatre".
    There are many who want to move beyond WW2 Institutions.

    His hands are tied by Scholz, who fears his popularity. Scholz is desperate to be a weak chancellor again.

    • @Rheinlander1904-uc5od
      @Rheinlander1904-uc5od 4 months ago

      Problem with Scholz is, he’s many things but not weak. Most problem is he doesn’t shows his energy on the federal level. Behind closed doors he has good control over the coalition - nonetheless he should remind the other parties of the coalition treaty on a public level, because that’s what the voters can see. There were some state elections where he showed up to support the SPD politicians campaigns in these states - there he showed emotion, empathy and a righteous rhetoric, but again it’s only noted by people in these states who show interest in the campaigns.
      Long story short - he’s capable but not a good presenter + there is a very suspicious case from his time as Mayor of Hamburg (which is equal to minister-president due to the circumstance that Hamburg is a city state). Pistorius is the far better solution by many aspects.
