The actress who played Sid brought him to life in a way that Pixar didn't. Yes, Sid was menacing in the original but this....she added a touch of punk rock and a little bit of craziness to the roll that made Sid even MORE menacing. And with the part where Sid became a small toy....that was amazing.
He was a stereotype in the movie. In this musical he is a regular troubled kid who attends an art class.

And it has some backstory too; in the play his mom is somewhat verbally abusive towards him, a far cry from her relatively soft-spoken self in the movie. (But even in the movie it’s heavily implied that his dad’s an alcoholic, and there’s even a fan theory that when drunk he may have become violent and to say the least, might have taught sid to destroy toys.)

The fact that these actors spent eight years on a Disney Cruise Line doing this musical is crazy.
Edit: It turns out I was wrong - the actors did change from time to time. By the time the musical closed in 2016, the show featured an entirely different cast.
Am I the only one who loves Buzz's static scenes? Scenes like the one with the cardboard spaceship, or the one with the claw, or the other one, when Buzz has that rocket on his back.
All of them.
My favourite thing about this are the costumes for Rex, Potato head, Hamm, Slinky and the spider baby...seriously these guys would tear a halloween party to bits

This was the version Disney recorded and it played on the TV's on the cruise ship for 8 years... They couldn't be bothered to get another take.

Woody was supposed to fly with buz and recreate the iconic scene from the movie but the harness was not attached properly so they had to take it off and buzz was just flying alone also the “live version” they showed every night was just opening night being re played over and over so it’s funny they decided to choose the one with this huge mistake lol

This is so fun to watch
I think this musical is cool but this scene 10:36 has problems. First off, they used a clip of the Darth Vader breathing sound effect with lasers going off in the background. Could you not find the breathing alone?
Second, he takes off his visor to test the air? Not only would an astronaut never do that but it also ruins the opportunity for that joke where Woody removes his visor making Buzz think he’s suffocating.

I bet you didn't know that the carpeting in Andy's house in the movie was the exact same carpeting in a hotel in a certain horror movie! Which one, you ask? Here's a hint: REDRUM! And sarge is voiced by the amazing R. Lee Ermy, who played Drayton Sawyer/Charley "Hoit" Hewitt in some of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Movies! Also, that Whack A Mole type game at Pizza Planet in the movie was a Reference To the movie Alien. Look closely at the figure the aliens are coming out of to get whacked. He's screaming and the aliens are chestbursters! HELL YEAH! I Love Horror Movies!
