This is not a strange phenomena as there are many other nationalities for example Bedouins, Kurds, etc. who learned to speak Circassian among their neighbors in the Middle East. But it never ceases to amaze me why our own people never bother to speak it.

you are absolutely right sesetsiku -- shame on us, not for not speaking adyghebze, which i do btw, but for the indifference of the older generation about the survival of our language.

@djadow You are absolutely right - I can not speak for other Xasas, but recently some Xasas are devoting some, albeit limited, efforts to teach Adyghebze to members and nonmembers who are interested enough to learn it - our Xasa here in the USA has initiated a program to do exactly that. This should be a paramount goal for all Xasa around the world if adyghabze is not to perish in the diaspora

Wow, such a great feeling. Although they aren't Adiga, they speak incredibly beautiful. Shame on Turkish Adigas. There are 5-6 million in that country but almost assimilated by Turks.

At the end of the day it is the parents responsibility to teach their young the language. If they dont then it is not really the fault of the children (to some extent). We really cant blame the country they live in. Ive seen native born Circassian (born and raised in the motherland) who for whatever reason dont or cant speak Adyghebze. In my opinion it has to do with the lack of national pride, or the will to learn the language

    comment from sesetsiku [ which i accidentaly deleted -- sorry --( ] :
They speak such a beautiful adigabze with no foreign accent! It's just sad that our own Adigas don't know how 2 speak their own language while others r making the effort 2 learn it, although it's not their own language. & they don't think "Adigabze won't take u anywhere" as many Adigas think.

Sure Circassians who can't speak our beloved language should think twice now :) but it do not mean it is too late now :( - they can recover now -and we should restore our Language, history, and unity in Circassia or in diaspora's countries :) our coming test is Sochi 2014!!! be prepared..

The Irony that foreigners speak our language, and many of our own people don't speak and don't even try to.
It seems like beeing Circassian is becoming more like a religion, it means you don't have to be a Circassian by blood anymore, i know none-Circassians who want to be Circassians.

  • @abidachale
    @abidachale 14 лет назад

This video makes some Circassians in diaspora very angry when they watch it :)
They say non-Circassians can speak our language but they cannot be real Circassians. Circassians who cannot speak their own language are angry because they didn't care about it and now it's too late to learn. If Anya says she is an Adyghe Pshashe, who can claim that she isn't? Who believes you if you don't know your own language?

y do Circassians who speak adyghebze
there whole life critisize the ones who cant or dont?
if u want our language strong again
y not open websites to teach this language? y not post on youtube to teach the language?
i been trying to learn it but it is hard with so little information to go off of
its up to u younger generation who was able to keep the language to spread it to the ones who dont know it
cause in some cases like mine there is no one to teach us

abidachale:" "Shame" on Turkish Adigas. There are 5-6 million in that country but almost "assimilated" by Turks."
    ---
For me this is like saying:
"Shame" on Adigas in the Mainland. They are so few. Because the Russians mass murdered, and exiled them.
Why the word shame? Shouldn't the Turks (Turkey) be ashamed for (forcibly) assimilating the Circassians. Who is the criminal here?
My only problem is using the word "shame".
Anyway maybe I misunderstood what you were trying to say. Peace.

Well Turkish Adigas were thrown into jails and their children were beaten at school for speaking their language.
They were subject to exiles and massacres.
In Turkey they tried to create a single-ethnic state! The result was a disaster...
It was an extremely racist authoritarian country 1923-1960.
Terrible times for Circassians in Turkey!
Learn before you talk so confidently about a subject please. Its Haynapa and dishonorable to blame victims. These are our own exiled brothers and sisters.
