Unfortunately most wall wort cases are ultrasonic seam joined together, preventing easy disassembly. I have done it anyway, but it is a royal pain in the ass, requiring using a hammer and flat screwdriver to break the plastic welding until enough purchase into the seam is made that it can varied apart. From that point, my repair is very similar, but I always make. Strain relief knot on the wires since the molded plastic strain relief no longer grips the wire shield. This move prevents strain on the solder joints and pc board pads if the cord is yanked. Most of the wires are not an obvious red and black, but one wire will have a stripe or identification numbers on it.

It is very good, when they do the ultrasonic welding, because people really should not open these... Also, the chinese like to use random colors for their wiring, or maybe they do it for fun, but you can often find Black as +, and red as Ground, when disassembling some cheap USB cables 😅

@@trueaussie9230 i'm a DIYer, and I love repairing things. Yesterday i fixed a heat gun. The more things I disassemble, the more knowledge I have. I passed electrical technician exams and got my paper, but I do not work as an electrician yet.
I have disassembled many similar chargers before and all I can say is this repair is dangerous if you don't know what you're doing, not to mention the absolutely terrible quality and fire hazard of such cheap devices. They can sometimes burst in flames right at first use, or soon after. I highly don't recommend opening them up.
You have to be very brave to put your whole house (or often the whole residential building) at risk, by this kind of "repair". What would be better then? To throw away some damaged charger where it belongs, or lose everything you own, maybe even cause some fatalities along the way? This is the kind of a deal you're proposing here. You can fix many things yourself, but this ain't and shouldn't be one of them. Period.

    @cesargmc572 6 месяцев назад +5

    Suerte amigos.

Well screws are not putting any more with these adapters they're very difficult because they're welded together now. What I do is with a utility knife very carefully score where it's welded 3 or all four sides of adapter. .You score it a few times each side deep enough where you will see the welded part slowing detaching from each other. The scoring just loosens up the welded part. You can see where you can glue it back together again we're just use a thin line of duck tape to hold it together until the next tear

I would normally use superglue to hold the cable in the sleved grommet. Also lead free solder flux is required for lead free soldering as modern solder wire does not have enough flux in it this is done deliberatly to make people waste solder so that they can sell more solder. Its allright to use plumbers solder flux as long as you clean it off with isopropal alcohol.

OK you have a special cable that has a broken wire somewhere? Can't replace cable. So how to find where break is (usually near one end)?.
Answer - measure capacitance of broken wire to one of the others...measure at both ends. Low capacitance means near the the break. Most good DVMs will measure C.

Yes, very nice for this particular example, but often the strain relief grommet is not so easily reused, or indeed broken with the cable. Threading it back through like that is not going to really clamp the cable. A bit of superglue would help. But the elephant in the room here of course is that most of these small SMPS units are not screwed together. So the real art is getting the bugger apart. I tend to use a hacksaw along the long sides and make a slot, then the short sides can be prised apart usually without too much damage. If there is only a single ended cable emergence, I will also cut the opposite short end. Lekky tape around the thing will hold it back together, but a slightly nicer job can be done with hot-snot. Which can also be used to "re-make" the cable clamp/strain relief grommet. We haven't even discussed what about the jack end of the cable? Well if it's not convenient to obtain a user installable replacement part, one can simply shave off the moulding and diggin in will find some terminals where there conductors are actually soldered. They're not as nice to solder as the proper field replacement connectors, but do-able. Then just rebuild the moulding with hot-snot.
